We planned to go to WDW wrek one Dec and stay at Poly...but we are toying with inviting my parents and brother's family too! We would treat and thus Poly is too expensive as it will be three rooms.

Where could I go? The family are all first timers!!!

The players
My family...DH, me, DS 6, DD 2
Brother's... SIL, Dd 12, DSs 10 (twins)
Grandparents...2 seniors

Plan...
MK 3 days
EP 2 days
HS 1 day
AK 1 day

We go early for 8 am TS b'fast or rope drop. We rest at park. We return after dinner except on nights we will stay for CP, Osbourne, Wishes

Preferences
A major requirement for me is transportation...easier the better! We won't have cars
Comfy beds and bathroom room...double sinks a plus
Price under 260 a night!

Advice?

well would you consider Pop - it does not have the double sinks - but it is a fun place.

otherwise you might consider renting a reservation from a DVC member - OKW you need to rent a 2-bedroom villa and a studio - or 3 studios.

both of these places only have buses for the parkis.

BLT is more expensive even from a DVC member - but it has walking to the MK and monorail to Epcot.

WL is less $$$ than the Poly, but has nice theming and a boat to the MK.

YC/BC is also less than the Poly, but you can walk or boat to both Epcot and DHS. And the pool there is great.

:goodvibes

For the budget that you quoted (I'm assuming that is per room, not total) and for the first or second week of Dec, you are probably not going to find a room at a deluxe resort, unless a really good discount comes out. But a moderate is certainly possible.

I have no idea how much a 2 or 3 bedroom villa would run you, or if it would even be possible to rent one for that time of year.

Thank you...the WL villa would be 900 a night and would not accommodate 10...

Looks like a moderate is right...

So...thinking PORiverside? Any thoughts on that one knowing we have only stayed at deluxe in past.

My concern with values is the transportation.

I think either of the PO resorts would work fine for you. POR would be my favourite for a pre-Christmas trip, but if you're really concerned about the multiple bus stops (it was never a problem any time we stayed there), you could opt for POFQ.

CSR is a great moderate resort to think about. The Dig Site pool are great, each section has a quiet pool. The beds are really comfy but they don't have double sinks. Also they don't share buses with any other resort which was great. We went the first week of Dec and only had to stand one night after the fireworks. Bus service was great!

I would book 3 rooms at POR. That way your brother's family can all stay together. We stayed at POR 2 years ago and loved it. The buses were fine.

I think any of the moderates would work for you. Look at photos and read about the resorts and pick the one that appeals to you most. POR or POFQ would be my first choice, but that is just personal preference.

Is the middle family a family of 5? You mentioned your brother's family but then just said sister-in-law and the 3 kids (older girl and 10 yr old twins). If a family of 5 and all 5 members are going on the trip, you would have to ask for the POR room for them that sleeps 5. Or maybe one of the kids could sleep with the grandparents? I have 3 kids and it is a challenge to find hotel rooms for us sometimes! Dolphin/Swan rooms can sometimes be within your price point but they don't provide magical express from the airport. But once you are on-site you can walk to Epcot or DHS.

POR is our favorite Mod resort. Its beautiful and centrally located as it pertains to the parks. Also it has a nice boat to DTD. You can pool hop to POFQ if you desire or just walk over in the morning for a beignet, yum! This would be my choice and we have stayed at each of the mods with the exception of the cabins. Good Luck!

Hi! I have to chime in here because we had only been to Disney 1 other time and only stayed at the Poly. This past trip in Dec, we stayed at a Mod. First was a value but going from Deluxe to value...I just couldnt do it so we went with a Moderate. PORiverside actually. We loved it soooooo much we are staying there again in November! We also have a big group (11) and we have 4 rooms booked there. Its not the exact same as the Poly but I still loved it!. I dont think you will go wrong staying there. Its beatuifully decorated and the lobby in nice with the Christmas tree. The buses arent as bad(well for us anyways) as I had imagined. The only night we had trouble was DHS as we lefted when everyone else did. We did love the convenience of the Monorail though. POR has become our new 'home' :) HTH!

I had the same request over on the OKW thread and by the time we finished POR was the only and best for our ten. Three rooms together in AB and seeing POR was our favorite we new what we wanted. Request 3 rooms at AB16 GV. As close to prefered without the up charge. Quiet pool and laundry, short walk to everything. Also POFQ if the seniors don't like a 5 min walk. I am 64 and POR works for me. The map looks much bigger than it is. Read the first page of the POR FAQ thread.

I think getting a two bedroom villa that sleeps nine will be very difficult for early December. That time frame is very popular with members so many of them books those dates 11 months out. A Grand Villa will be even harder to get since there are so few of those.
