Is that about the same pretzel bread as they have at Le Cellier?

All that food look really good!

Biergarten, dinner
salmon, pork w/applesauce on top, spaetzl, schnitzel, sausage, potatoes

Is that chicken schnitzel?? I really want to eat here but I'm scared of unfamiliar food...but if that's chicken, I'll eat it! It looks good.

Well, I won't get a chance to try Biergarten this trip because I have a VERY picky eater and her won't eat there at all. Maybe on the trip I take with DH next year!

now I want a pretzel!! No fair! Can you send one my way pretty please?

My DD17 is a very picky eater also. She doesn't get to determine where we eat. We have eaten at the Biergarten many times and she always manages to find something. Here's one of her plates. Chicken schnitzel, mac & cheese, pretzel roll and roasted potatoes. She also eats the salad and chicken soup.

Those Beirgarten pix look good! I've never had German food but the menu looks appealing and I know DH will enjoy the flight of beer! (Any idea how much that costs and have any pix I can show him??)
What is spaetzl & schnitzel by the way? The schnitzel looks good, whatever it is. Not so sure about the spaetzl. Do they serve all that at lunch or only dinner?

I'm pretty sure schnitzel just means breaded and fried. There is an AWESOME german restaurant close to where I live and I was so afraid to order anything (except drinks ;)) until I saw someone else's plate of chicken. The waitress told me it was just chicken schnitzel so now I get it every time. And DFi gets yagerschitzel which, I think, is fried pork.

Schnitzel is meat pounded, breaded, and fried. Usually pork, veal, or chicken. Spaetzle is a noodle. It's boiled, then served plain or with a sauce.

I believe it says Pork schnitzel at the Biergarten! we went twice when we were there in January. It was very good! I think they had fried chicken when I was there. I did not get it but it looked good. I was a little nervous about trying the food but I really liked it very much! My kids liked it too and my 2 year old is picky! Give it a try! :thumbsup2

Spaetzl is comfort food for me, only we make it into big dumplings and boil them and serve them saute'd in butter and onions. Mmmmm...

Here is the beer flight:

I can't find the price anywhere. I remember it wasn't too bad. :confused3

Since I am German, I can help with that! :goodvibes

The original would be the Wiener Schnitzel (schnitzel from Vienna) which is breaded veal cutlet. Schnitzel does not mean the way it is made, but the cut of meat. It is usually pretty good meat, very lean, either veal or pork. The most common variation is the Schweineschnitzel (pork schnitzel) which is breaded porc cutlet. The Jägerschnitzel (hunter's schnitzel) normally would not be breaded, but the meat is pan fried and served with a mushroom sauce. Then there is also the Zigeunerschnitzel (Gypsy schnitzel) which is served with a sauce made from bell peppers. Actually in Germany we do not know a chcken schnitzel (Hühnerschnitzel), we call it a breaded chicken fillet :goodvibes

Spätzle are a type of fresh made pasta. The dough is much softer than normal pasta dough, so you could also say it is like tiny dumplings. They are made by cutting the dough of into tiny stripes:

They are either served as a side to meat dishes with a sauce or they can be mixed with cheese and served with fried onions: Käsespätzle!! Absultely delicious!!

Happy birthday! :bday: They also have one stuffed with apple cinnamon that sounded pretty good, but we didn't try it. I thought the cheese was pretty mild, like a really mild nacho cheese.
thanks for the birthday wishes and the info..the apple cinnamon sounds perfect!!:goodvibes

Soft Pretzel- Germany

Spicy Cheese Stuffed Pretzel- HS

We used snack credits for these during our 12/08 trip. We love the pretzels in Germany...

Oooh where can I find one of these? The Cheese Stuffed pretzel, I mean. Looks soooo good.

The stuffed pretzels are at Min & Bill's Dockside at Echo Lake in the Studios.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this info!!!

The spicy cheese pretzles are my absolute favorite snack in all of Disneyland, so when we went to WDW last summer I was really hoping that they had them. I searched high and low, and couldn't find them anywhere! Now I know that they do exist in Florida.

Just over 100 days and I will be heading to Min & Bill's to have one! :thumbsup2

Amen! I purchased a spaetzle maker for my husband. Best gift ever! It's a nice change from noodles or potatoes. We just use them as noodles though. I can't imagine how you could make dumplings. Sounds yummy.
