Disney Food Pictures...Part II

MEDICAL ALERT:

The Tye Dyed cheesecake is SEETHING with dyes (duh) so keep this in mind if you have autistic children. Many autistic children (and ADHD) can't handle red and blue dyes, and many other conditions are similar. Dyes are made from petroleum. Some of the red dyes you eat are actually made from INSECTS!!!  :faint: Seriously. Look it up.

My son was just diagnosed with ADHD.... Can you tell me where you found this info. I am interested to learn more.

I have a few pics to add when we get home from Disney:

Raglan: Daulky Duo, Ribs, Cheeseburger, Chowder, Bread Pudding and Apple Pis.

Kona: French Toast, pancakes and poached eggs and ham hash.

I did the unthinkable and canceled several other reservations that we had and the others we did go to, I did not take pics...:scared1:

Leonsmom, one of the most common things to do when a child is diagnosed with ADHD is elimination of certain foods/additives. Red dye is a VERY common stimulant in our kids.

Not everyone is affected, but a simple search on Google of the words "dyes autism" or "dyes ADHD" will yield many results.
This is REALLY OT, and I won't mention it any further after this (feel free to PM me) but here's a true story.
At home our son is on a strict dye diet. Not as much now as he was, but at the time dyes really made him angry. On one particular Disney trip he was a MONSTER! Not just to us and our daughter, but to other people, cast members, etc. He ruined the whole trip. I won't go into all the details, but at one point he had an anger fit in the bathroom (DW took him into the ladies room to wash his face) and he kicked my wife till her leg was bleeding. We almost got kicked out of the park twice, and we were both at the point of tears by the end of the vacation. On the way home, in the car, we were all quiet, and my wife and I were discussing how that was one of the worse weeks of our life. (Something that should never be said of a Disney vacation) He was very rude, insulting, hateful, and angry all week. All at once we both looked at each other and said "THE BLUE SLUSHIES!!!!:furious: ". We had completely forgotten the diet in the whole vacation excitement thing, and our son had been living off nothing but blue slushies and water for drink for the week. A few days later he was back to himself. Still all of the traits above, but to a MUCH lesser degree.
Just for the record he is doing much better now. He is learning to cope with his Autism, and we are too. Its a lifestyle and it takes serious effort. Therapists in the home 4 days a week helps too!:thumbsup2

As far as the slushies: (At the POP) The blue is of course bad for children with dye problems, but the Coca Cola slushie is supposedly fine. The color of the Coca Cola slushie is created by caramel if I remember correctly. So now we just let him have the Cola slushies instead.:thumbsup2

Our waitress took our drink orders, and our toast orders as well. In addition to coffee we had delicious fresh squeezed orange juice. I love rye toast with my eggs, she brought us a big fresh stack of buttered rye toast a few moments later.

There was a nice assortment of fresh pastries, and our waitress brought out a few lovely jellies to accompany them.

Although it is set up similar to a buffet breakfast is made fresh to order. Even my children's scrambled eggs were scrambled in front of me. The waffles and french toast were cooked before my eyes as well. Dh had an omelet, the selection of omelet fixins was amazing.

The only items precooked was the bacon, sausage and potatoes. (Well, and of course the pastries!)

Lunch is a la carte, but includes that yummy desert buffet!

As I said in my trip report, I saw so many gems over at the S/D on this last trip. Nice eateries that are overlooked because they are not Disey owned. If you aren't on the DDP or have some OOP meals to get, take the boat from DHS or Epcot to the S/D. The non-signature places give 20% for AAA and DVC as well.

Just want to add that Jenny McCarthy has a book and how changing her sons diet has helped many kids with autism - Holly Robinson Pete also has a son with Autism, and when she heard of Jenny's son, they began to talk - they were on Oprah and I found it extremely informative - that and the doctor on Good Morning America, his son autistic, his friend - Amish - he asked how the Amish delt with Autism - no Autism in Amish community - is it the TV, the dyes? the additives?

and why is there so much resistence in studying?

OK, this reminds me of a dessert I had at a convention at the Contemporary. They were little cheesecake bites on sticks dipped and chocolate. :lovestruc OMG, they were fantastic, and I had to wonder if they were offered any place else on Disney property.

For what it's worth, Disney convention food is definetely on the high end of convention food, especially the desserts!

there are more :offtopic: post's here then food post's - can we get back on track? :confused3

And the food in your post is where??? :confused3 Glass houses and stones! Sometimes the discussions are as interesting as the food porn.......but here is a picture so I don't get in trouble by the food porn police! ::cop:

Treat for my DD14's B-day at Boma on our last trip
