Hi! I am designing t-shirts for me and my mom's Disney trip on Wednesday. I wanted to write our Disnames on them in Disney font. So, I downloaded the font and tried to add it to my font folder. It says the font is in use. Has anyone else ever had this problem and how do I fix it?

If you mean that you tried to copy or cut the font file & paste it into the Fonts folder, then yes - that's happened to me numerous times with other file types...even when the file in question isn't in use. :confused3 I have no clue what causes it & working around it makes me want to bang my head against the wall since I can't rename either usually. ;)

Anyway whatever the cause, it shouldn't matter if you do things a bit differently.

1. Open your Fonts folder. (C:\Windows\Fonts
2. In the File menu of the Fonts folder, choose Install New Font.
3. In the lower left corner, change to the folder where your new font is stored.
4. Wait for the List of Fonts in the upper half of the box to populate.
5. Highlight the font you want to add & click OK.

I don't think you'll get the "in use" error when you do it this way.

Thanks! But that's exactly what it did. I might just have to get a Diser with the font to write something out for me. Do you have it and could you do it for me? :rolleyes1 (I'll pm you if you say you can.)

Well that's just weird! :confused3 Because the file being "in use" shouldn't affect that like it would renaming or moving. Too weird!

I don't know if sending it to me would help...you still won't be able to print it out - unless I send it back as a JPG file. But I'll try if you want. I have Disney Print & Disney Simple.

Another idea...try downloading the font again and this time put it directly into your Windows\Fonts folder. You might also save another copy somewhere else...like maybe your desktop. You can always remove it once you have it installed.

Ummm - I never asked. Are you using a Windows system or a MAC?

worst comes to worse, restart your computer. That usually frees up the "busy" file

Again - I didn't think to ask that! You're right Faerie, of course, but I've been having trouble with this for the past 4 or 5 months...files or folders that just never seem to free up! :confused3 I have a couple that have been that way since before Christmas...and they're just annoying the heck out of me! :rotfl2: I just want to delete them & get it over with! LOL I keep forgetting to ask DS & DH about it. I just figured it something with XP that Microsoft hasn't gotten around to fixing yet.
