Disney Fantasy problem?

Honestly I never seen such a mess with the departure

Shameful

Ironic is every day you're on the ship you see tons of Disney cast but for some reason on this busy day and they all decided to sleep in

According to guest services they recommended getting in line early so therefore we skip breakfast waited in line for two hours we were number 70 or 80 based on my count however as we get closer to port folks got up closer they started pushing shoving

Why have a line??

Where were the ropes??

It was crazy and a mess.

I understand there are issues but Disney had no plan

Horrible ending!!!
we found this on our last cruise as well. the do need a rope system. i realize everyone wants out but tempers were flaring. no one knew where the line started or ended. as we were trying to find the end of the line a cast member showed us where we needed to be. unfortunately the person we were put beside didn't see it that way and she started to throw a hissy fit. no other word for it. her husband kept telling her to calm down, she had a child in a stroller that was witnessing this. we ended up calling the cm over to figure out where we were supposed to be and he told us to stay and told the woman there was no problem, that we were fine.
this was embarrassing for her (even though she didn't feel it, people were staring at her), her husband (who walked away after telling her to hush) and us (we didn't know what to do). it could have all been prevented if they had a roped off area with true direction.

sorry your cruise ended this way. not the most pleasant. it would be nice if they learned from these things.

Yes terrible isn't it that they work 10/12 hours a day 7 days a week for 4 - 8 months and they have a lie in on the one day they can.

The only people that cause the chaos is the guests.

IMHO: I don't think they were "sleeping in". They were all probably getting the ship ready for the next set of passengers.

There was a TV show about "turn around day" on a different cruise line. It was very informative about what all goes into that morning. It gave me a whole new perspective. It is a crazy busy morning for all of the crew.

It's my understanding that the crew must go through immigration checks before doing anything that morning. Since the ship was late, possibly the immigration checks were late, also.

I know on our Hawaii, cruise, our asst server wasn't at breakfast when we first got there, but showed up toward the end of the meal. He said he was "doing his check".

Others were posting that Disney was showing movies in the theater and on the pool deck to keep everyone from trying to get off the ship at the same time. Usually the ship docks at 6:30am and people start getting off a 7am. With everyone all trying to get off at 9:30 it's going to be crazy. The beat thing would be to hang back at bit.

I was on board

Issue 1 was deviation from original course

However last night engines over heated

It was a nightmare getting off. Pushing and shoving.

Disney have more control over lines for Pluto then the lines for exiting

Miss flights

Hi,
I am curious if Management was asking for people with earlier flights be allowed the courtesy of getting off first. Just sounds crazy!

We were on this sailing, and felt we were well informed about the late arrival. We ate breakfast at 8:45, got our bags, got in line by the aft elevators on deck 3 for self debark, and it started moving as soon as they announced the ship was cleared. Took less than 20 minutes from that time till we were at the budget shuttle. Sounds like we were just in line early enough to miss the chaos! We were late due to the deviation, and heard nothing about problems with the engines. Time they told us last night we would arrive was very close to our actual arrival time.

One of the reasons why I like second seating for dinner is that the late breakfast seating makes disembarking less stressful. By the time we are done with breakfast, we can pretty much stroll right off the ship without waiting in line. On a day like today with the ship getting into port late, I definitely wouldn't be rushing to disembark. But then again, I don't like to schedule my return flights before mid-afternoon.

And yes, disembarkation day is extremely busy for the crew. None of them were sleeping in this morning. They were likely going through their immigration check at the time the PP was complaining that they were sleeping in.

Just got off of the Fantasy and will report that it was chaotic and dangerous this morning. I was called over to help a woman who had collapsed and there were people more concerned about the woman blocking their path to the exit. There were literally people stepping on this woman and not stopping. After getting her up, wiping blood and carrying her to the side did people stop and realize their stupid behavior. I also observed several adults pushing or kneeing children trying to get off of the boat instead of remaining patient and being good examples for the children. Having been on numerous cruises thru the years, I will say that I was greatly disappointed by the behavior of numerous passengers during the debarkation process. In the future, I would kindly advise fellow passengers to think about how actions affect more than just themselves. Remember this is Disney not professional wrestling or rugby. Thank you and happy sailing!

Gee, what a mess, hope that woman ends up OK.

Any further info on the engine overheating mentioned earlier?

We were not briefed about any of the particulars regarding the engine. I do have absolute confidence in Disney and know that they will have the problem corrected as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Last night, Commodore Tom shared with everyone that we would be docking around 6ish and the early bird folks could get off around 7ish. Sometime following that briefing, there was an apparent engine issue. We were given a paper on our stateroom door early this morning that stated due to some technical issues, we would be arriving at the dock later than originally anticipated.

For those just off the Fantasy could you share the max winds and sea hieghts encountered please.

Curious as a Fantasy hurricane Sandy sailor. Many of us from that sailing were thinking/concerned about you. Hoping DCL learned from the past.

Welcome back :)

I agree. I can't believe Disney would DARE to inconvenience you or be off schedule by two hours during a Category 5 hurricane. This whole deal with the Earth's atmosphere and the warmth of the Caribbean has GOT to be sorted out. Just a mess. Two whole hours? I mean, we're only talking about a hurricane which could bring an entire coastal American city to it's knees for five years. REALLY. I am SHOCKED. Shameful indeed.

Disney's job during a hurricane is to get us back to the coast in one piece. Those of us who live on the coast and have seen the massive, terrifying and unpredictable power of hurricanes appreciate our lives being put first. I do not care if someone is standing in front of me. I don't care if the ship must be diverted to take a safer route. I don't care if that makes us a few hours late back to port. I don't care if the process seems less than smooth. I don't care about my belongings. I only care about my own safety. When it comes down to safety, the whole experience becomes less posh, and I just don't care. I'll go without a sit-down meal for 12 hours. Just get me back to port alive. If the Disney cast members do that, they have done their jobs.

I was thinking about the ropes and having so many people in one place with the potential for the ship to list. In the event of extreme ship movement from wind or waves, maybe the ropes would cause more danger as people try to run or right themselves? I was trying to think of reasons they wouldn't have queue directing systems like ropes or chains. I'm coming up with nothing.

This is not about a hurricane or coming in late.. Perhaps you should re-read some of the comments that this has to deal with crowd control and safety..I understand life happens. There are no issues on my end regarding that. I don't mind coming in late, BUT Guest Services when called said at 7am that folks were already in line and they do recommend if you have a flight before 12pm that you may want to get in line early to gain access early. Therefore I took their advice.

The ISSUE is that Disney Team Members were not there to assist a mass crowd that had issues. They wanted lines, but received a mob due to lack of control and lack of presence. It started out with 2 lines but as we reached port, hundreds of guests formed their own lines and came down the stairs pushing their way into the line to gain access. It was out of control. I saw children being pushed, luggage running over feet, etc They were not prepared nor had enough staff to assist. Most of them didn't know what to do and said this was a learning experience for them.
