We use FEs to give out candy or snacks of local or regional interest. Sign ups continue for quite a while!

Hi Bobbiwoz, how do I send you a conversation? We'll sign up for the exchange but can't work out how to send you my details. Thanks

You need to have at least 10 posts on the Disboards. Once you get those, you click on my name by my avatar and there should be something there about starting a conversation.

There's lots of time to get your cabin number to me!

We use Fish Extenders to give out candy or snacks of local or regional interest. I will keep the group(s) between 6 and 11 so no one gets a sugar shock! There's plenty of time to sign up!

Thanks - better work on those 10!

The candy exchanges sound fun. I'm not sure that I have a fun regional candy and I'm not sure what a fish extender is either or how to get one. I think planning and prepping for this first cruise is going to be stressful. How does the kid's club work? My girls with be 3 and 5 at the time of the cruise. Do young kids generally like being there? How long do kids usually stay in kid club?

The Fish Extender exchange, or the Candy Exchange, should not be stressful. We did not do them on the first cruise we went on, and it may be best to just plan for your first cruise, and see what you would like to join during your next cruise. These things are unique to DCL, you don't see them on the others. In DCL, it's fun to walk the halls and see how people decorate their doors. Some decorating is done with magnets, some with the fish extenders, FE. Go to any search engine and type in Fish Extenders you'll see lots of examples.

Our grand children who cruised from ages 4 to 11, did not go to the kids clubs, except during the times the parents could join them. As a family, they wanted to be together, but lots of kids go to the clubs. I'm sure someone will chime in for you.

Hi all! My wife and just booked this cruise while onboard a 5 day Bahamian cruise with our kids. But we are really excited to be going on this cruise without the kiddos!

We live in Kentucky, have been DVC members since 2006, and are generally Disney-holics. This will be our 4th cruise on DCL in 4 years! We LOVE the Fantasy!

On a previous cruise, our Disboards group did a private mixology class on a sea day. It was a ton of fun! My wife and I would probably never had done this without the group; neither one of us is really a drinker. But we had a blast on the rest of the cruise with people we met that day (and on the boards leading up to the cruise). If there is enough interest (I think you need around 25), maybe we can pull that together.

Bumping to find some charter mates....

We would also like to visit Norman Island and snorkel at the Caves!!!

We are looking for 8 more people to fill a PRIVATE CHARTER to The Baths in Virgin Gorda.

Please let me know if you have interest in joining a private charter. I have contacted a reputable tour operator whose captain will pick us up and drop us off at the same pier where the Fantasy is docked. We would not need to travel to the marina for their boat. This is a nice time saver!

The charter will be customized to our group, so you can help plan the itinerary! Per the Captain’s suggestion, we will go to The Baths in the afternoon when the tour groups supposedly thin out a bit. We can stop for lunch at an additional cost. The charter will include snorkeling and refreshments (water, beer, soda and rum punch).

The power boat can hold 12 guests and will cost $1500 for the day. We are a family of four including our 21 & 18 year old children. If we can fill the other 8 spots, the price will be $125 per person.

Any takers?

Welcome to the group Rob! We also love the Fantasy (we've been on all 4 ships, cruised about 15 times now) and are DVC members, since 2008. What is or are your home resorts? We have BWV and Aulani. Love em both!

My hubby and I are always up for those mixology classes! The have a ton of options now for different classes - beer, wine, champagne, tequila, martinis, margaritas, etc... Count us in as 2 interested attendees!

We've travelled through KY many times en route to the Smokies. I love to stop at Ex 77 off I 75, the Kentucky Artisan Center. It has such beautiful crafts.

Tom & I would love to join the mixology class. He has done tequila, we both have done the wine, and the chocolate tastings in the past!

Hi DvclurkerRob,
Welcome to the group! Our family would be interested in a private mixology cruise. There are three of us. My DH and I have done a few tastings on past cruises but this is the first cruise our DD will be 21.

:drinking1Sign DH and I up for the private Mixology class ... we have done Mixology on our two previous cruises and had planned to sign up as soon as we boarded but if we can do it ahead of time that's even better.

It sounds fun. I can't see mixology classes as onboard activity. Where are you looking? Probably lots more I've not seen

The mixology or other liquor classes, except for private bookings, are not open to sign ups until you get on the ship. I have never booked a group, but I think DCL takes reservations for a group around 60 days out. Someone contacts DCL and gives them the list of participants and their cabin numbers. There's a minimum number for participation, and it is understood you will be charged if you are a no show. I do not know exactly how that works, because we were with a wine tasting group and fully 1/2 were no shows. The wines were poured and those present got to drink the extras.

Hi, this is the first cruise for us. My kids will be Max 7 and Malia 6 at time of cruising and my sons birthday is the last day of the cruise. I'm excited to learn all the tips and about the FEs?

Welcome, and it's going to be especially exciting for you because of your son's birthday!

That's a long thread about FE's. There used to be a basic "FE 101" thread, but I cannot find it.

I organize a Candy Exchange (or snacks) and keep the number of cabins between 6-11. You have plenty of time to read and decide. It's a 7 night cruise, and that does have sea days which are more relaxing and I think you more easily can find time to distribute your goodies.

We are empty nesters who enjoy DCL cruises a lot! We are Platinum.

I am having both knees replaced on Friday, so I will be in rehab for awhile. Do not know if that means more or less time on Disboards! Also, until I know how I make out, I cannot plan on shore excursions. I love snorkeling, and hope to once again be able to do it again! Now, my knees just do not get me back up on the boat!
