Disney Fantasy Eastern ~ Jan 16, 2016

this is the quietest group I've been with :) Anyone else bummed about the Star Wars Day not being on our cruise?

Since this is a big family with kids crew let's get a conversation going...
" get to know my family"

I'm Ann and my DH is Howard. we live in Arizona (2 miles from California) we all call it the West Coast of Arizona. We have 3 grown children with 17 grandkids age 23yrs to 8 months old. 2 weird Jack Russells.
In November we retired as LMT's / instructors from a massage school. In the process of having our kitchen' living room dining room repaired.( Big story to tell... later)
Howard and I grew up 30 miles from Disneyland, so a yearly trip or more are not uncommon for us. like I said.. we've done many Disney cruises. The last one was WBTA 2014... west bound Transatlantic. Howard has Parkinson's, so yes we have a HA room it's 5686. if anyone wants to see our room... just ask. :)
Now... who are you ? :)

Hi Ann!
I'm Christal. We are from NC, been DVC members since 2009 and in love with Disney since we honeymooned at WDW in 1996. We will be traveling with our DD that is 16. This will be our first vacation without our oldest DD as she will be getting married the month before the cruise and settling in with her hubby. This will be our 4th Disney cruise but first on the Fantasy. So excited!

We booked this morning, so excited!! Haven't been since 2012 and never been on the Fantasy. It will be my, the hubby and our 16 yr old DD.

Welcome!

DH and I are both retired, and Platinum CC members, and DVC members since 2003. We have been on all 4 ships, and especially enjoy the Eastern Caribbean cruises. We honeymooned in St Thomas in 1968! We have sailed with our 3 grandchildren and their parents many times, but schedules haven't worked out for that to happen now that the kids are older.

We live in Ohio, but hope to be snowbirds living in NJ where we already own a home in Cape May, and FL, where we haven't decided.

I have hosted a Local Candy/Snack exchange on DCL cruises. We use the Fish Extenders to pass out the goodies.

Something I learned on the Fantasy last week. "Port" has 4 letters, and so does "Fish" and so the staterooms on the port side have fish extenders. "Starboard" has 9 letters and so does "seahorses" and so staterooms on the starboard side have seahorses to extend! This goes even to the sideways inside cabins, depending on which they are closer to. I do not know about other ships, but it is the case on the Fantasy!

I hadn't read your post before, but wanted to add that we have a great English Bred Black Lab named Belle. She was adopted by us 3 1/2 years ago, she was a breeders dog, never really lived in a house with a family. She's simply a doll, and follows me around like Mary's lamb. That is important because I am going to have both knees replaced and my mobility is not good. The operation will take place at the end of April. Congratulations on your retirement. Tom retired from Engineering 1 1/2 years ago, and I just sent for forms to officially retire from teaching math p/t at the University of Cincinnati yesterday!

Hi! We booked this cruise while on the January 24 Fantasy cruise. We had originally booked a Southern Caribbean, but the school break schedule changed, so we had to switch to a week earlier. It will be me, my DH, DD who will be 17 and DS who will be 12. We are from NC and have been cruising with DCL since 2002. This will be our 12th cruise with DCL and 4th on the Fantasy. We are really excited to go to Tortola!

Hi Group!! So funny, last time I searched for our "cruise meet" thread, it hadn't been started yet and now it's up to 4 pages! DH and I booked this one when they first released the dates. We've been on about 15 DCL cruises, multiple trips on all four of the ships! We were on the Fantasty inagural cruise, what a blast!! As another posted, the Magic had been our "home" favorite ship for a long time, but we're really loving the Fantasty too!

Sometimes we cruise with a group, but so far this trip is just DH and me. We're in our 40s, so too early to retire...yet! We have no bi-ped kids, just the four-legged types (a rescue pup and 2 kitties). We live in CO, just moved here from CA Bay Area about a year ago. We're very excited about this trip, it will be our first trip to Tortola, and our first visit back to CC in quite a while. Our next cruise is the DVC Member cruise to Alaska in May...can't wait to be back on a ship!

Has anyone started a roll call for all of us? Would be nice to see the demographics of the group. :-)

Hello and WELCOME!!!! We are first time cruisers on the Fantasy and can NOT wait!!! I'm not sure about a roll call having been started. I'm hesitant to post too much on here for fear of being booted out by the administrators. I haven't been on Disboards much in recent months so with all of the new rules I'm a little bit scared. We are so very excited and counting down the days to our first 7 night Disney cruise.

Hi! My DH would love to live in Colorado. When he worked, he worked in Denver for 9 months, he was so happy. We have vacationed there a few times, we thoroughly enjoy going to National Parks. I also loved Bolder, Celestial Tea company and Leanin Tree Museum. Are you by any of those?

Our waitlist came through for main dining! We are very happy!:)

Yay for the waitlist!

We are about 1/2 way in between Boulder and Denver, so best of both worlds for us. 20 minutes either direction! I love the Celestial Seasonings tour!!

Hi, we just booked for this cruise it will be our first cruise and our first Disney trip of any kind. So, we are crazy excited. Any advice from those with previous cruise experience will be appreciated. It will be me, my husband and our two daughters ages 5 and 3 at the time of the cruise.

Was the Fantasy inaugural cruise out of NYC?
I've been on the Wonder more than any other ship. I think it's my favorite, but it's close. This cruise will be our 3rd on the Fantasy.

Welcome to the Disboards and to the cruise!

We cruised with Grandchildren and their parents when the kids were your daughters ages, but I do not know anything about the clubs. I hope someone here can help you. You can also ask questions on the Disney Cruise line forum on the Disboards, that forum is much busier than this thread!

No, the "official" inaugural was out of Port Canaveral. With both of the newer ships, the inaugural cruise was not really the first cruise with passengers. I was on the Dream when they did a "cast" preview cruise before the official inaugural cruise. This allows the crew to get more familiar with the ship and for DCL to work out the kinks...and for the Dream there were still a LOT of kinks when we were on the ship. Oh well, that's why it was a cast cruise!! We are lucky to have a very close friend that is DCL cast, so they invited us to join them. It was a great experience, but I would not recommend cramming 4 adults into a standard verandah cabin, LOL! Made for some interesting times in the evenings when we got ready for dinner.

Wow!! Well, welcome welcome! Very glad you found us. I think there are several of us on this trip that have cruised DCL many times, so we have a lot of help we can give you. Do not be shy with your questions! The Fantasy is a beautiful ship, I think you'll like the experience.

Kara, overall, I think Disney's CMs are some of the nicest people, so that sounds wonderful!

Hi guys! Looking to join. We have finally decided and booked.. Jan 16th out of port Canaveral. We are a family of 6, me and hubby , kids 15,13,8,6... We are so excited. This will be the first time cruising for the kids :cool1:

Hi there, I noticed you have a 15 yr old. Boy or girl? My daughter will be sailing with us. She's 16 and loves to hang in the teen clubs.

We live in NC too! This must be a popular time to cruise, as we were on the Magic this past Jan and there loads of families from NC:)
We have a 16 yr DS and a 13 yr DS AND a black lab who will have to stay behind, sadly. This will be our 6th cruise but first time on the Fantasy. So excited for this literary.

LOL, I would LOVE to be able to bring our dog...he is a child to us, after all. But at 90+ pounds, he's like an extra person. But he loves the place we kennel him too, it's one of those open play places during the day, so he has lots of fun. :-)

Our Belle is 80 pounds, and she's well cared for when we're away, but yes, we miss her. I look forward to picking her up, because then our little family is complete!

:chat:wow... gotten a bit chatty since I left .The house is complete!
Welcome all new cruisers....BTW, Boulder/Denver area is where 2 of our grandsons live... Longmont to be exact. We visited there about a year ago. What a beautiful state.
So what are everyone's plans for the spring/summer?
We're just cleaning out the dead plants that our weird winter brought(snow for 2 days) and summer... finally enjoy the pool. then a 5 day stay at Disneyland for the 60th Anniversary with all the family. well almost all .
