Has anyone stayed in a Veranda room midship Deck 10? We are currently book on Deck 9, in room 9544, but the more I read about how crowded mid ship elevators are, the more I'm considering switching to Deck 10, so we can utilize the stairs.
My only hesitation is the noise above, and I've read some negative reviews about overhang on the balconies on 10, which is why I booked 9 in the 1st place.
Also, my son will be 6 at the time of travel and I think we will spend a ton of time at the Aqualab, which appears to be on Deck 12.
We are doing 4 days at Disney World first, where we will be go,go,go the entire time, so the more convenient and less walking, the better.

We had rooms on deck 10 and 9 for our Fantasy B2B. Deck 10 we were more aft than midship (underneath the starboard entry to Cabanas). Deck 9 we were more midship port side (with rooms above and below us).

Truth be told - the deck 9 room was noisier than the deck 10 one. Mostly due to the 3 connecting rooms on one side whose kids felt that running laps through the connecting doors/verandahs was a great deal of fun, and the 2 connecting room on the other side where the kids (I hope they were kids) felt that jumping off the bunk bed was the only way to get down (screaming while doing so). There was also a large group of people (on deck 10) who felt that the only way to get down the passageway to/from their room was running foot races.

Deck 10, while underneath a fairly used space, was much more quiet.

That being said, unless it's been fixed, the aft of the Fantasy had really bad vibration issue. Think cheap motel vibrating bed feeling - that's what it felt like in our room. We felt it more in the deck 10 room than the deck 9 room (maybe because it was more aft), but it was still there on deck 9.

Thanks for the response! On deck 9 we are currently booked more forward, I think @ 8 rooms up from midship elevator. Deck 10 rooms left are also a little more forward from the mid ship elevator. From the deck plans I'm looking at- we would probably be directly under Flo's Cafe/Luigi's. It's a very merrytime cruise, and only 2-3 rooms left, I need to decide quick lol. I'm definitely leaning to switch to deck 10.

Oh, what about the overhang? Did you notice that at all on 10?
Deck 10 verandah:

Deck 9 verandah:

It's noticeable, but I wouldn't automatically decide against a room because of it. But we're not really big in "must lie in the sun" department. I like being outdoors, but in the shade.

Thank you! I'm a sun girl, but my son prefers shade, and the trip is for him..so, I'm going to call and make the switch now. Thanks so much for the pics and your help!

Several comments on this:
  • We were on the Dream earlier this month in 9540 and 9542. These cabins are more or less between the mid-ship and forward elevator/stairs. We didn't find the walk up two flights of stairs to be any problem at all.
  • After 14 cruises, nine of which are on the newer ships we prefer deck 9 rather than 10 exactly because of the overhang. Noise from above was not typically a problem except for early morning and later in the afternoon/evening when they were moving deck chairs around.
  • Going to/from the pools from deck 9 or 10 really isn't a big deal. We always take the stairs. I wouldn't have a problem with an extra flight of stairs to get to the Aqualab, especially for a 6YO with lots of energy. :)
  • Even if you do walk up and down the stairs, that's a lot less walking than what you will have become accustomed to in the 4 days at WDW.

We were on deck 9 forward for our recent B2B on the Dream. We used the stairs at every opportunity and did not find the two flights up to deck 11 to be a problem. The fwd elevators were less busy than mid, but we sometimes walked to mid or even aft and used the stairs there (e.g. down to get to the MDRs).

One particularly nice thing for us was the close proximity to laundry -- it was just around the corner from us and easy to get to.

We chose 9 primarily because it had staterooms above and below, and our hope was that would reduce noise. We did not have any outside-the-room noise, just the creaking inside the room during rougher seas :-)

We had room 10656 on deck 10 on The Fantasy for our Western Carribean cruise and it wasnt a problem at all for us. Easy access to Cabana for breakfast and lunch etc and to the pool area so it was great for us as I have 2 DD. I guess there is always something that it not going to be 100% on all cruises ie: noise levels, ship vibrating, kids running, overcrowded stairs and lifts. Try to enjoy your cruise and not worry about the little things - you are going to luv it. Happy Cruising.

Does that over hang go all the way around deck 10? We booked deck 10 for the first time; always stayed deck 8 or 12 on previous cruises and i am not sure i like it!
