Disney Fantasy, August 18, 2012 - Western Caribbean

What night will Pirate night fall on. I am trying to figure out when I should book Palo when they open up the reservation line for us commoners.

How late are the kids clubs open while dh and I dine.

Great to have you VeryBeachy.
It is starting to get a lot closer. Its only just over 3 months for us until we leave for Orlando. We also booked 18 months out . Its amazing how quickly the time has gone.
I'm in the middle of making FE gifts also. We must have added a few to the list over the last few weeks alone and I reckon we must have lost a few of the originals as we haven't heard from them for months. It would be great to get an up to date list so that we know who we are making for.
We are within the 120 days now so I guess all those concierge and platinum cruisers have begun to book their excursions, palo etc.

Thanks PrincessBelle! I've seen pics of various FE gifts on the boards. There are so many great ideas and some very creative folks out there.

Less than a month to go to for on-line check-in and booking excursions. Hard part is narrowing it down to which excursions.

Anyone planning to sign up (once on board) for a beer, wine, champagne, tequila, etc. tasting? Or tastings? We did a beer tasting on the Wonder in 2010... it was so much fun. The CM heading it up was so entertaining and informative. The ship seemed to have tilted a bit during the walk from Diversions back to the stateroom. Or maybe it was just me?

It is really hard to narrow down the excursions. There are a few in each port that I'd love to do. Cozumel was a hard choice for us. We did dolphins at Chankanaab last time and just loved it there. But we've chosen the Fury Catamaran this time. Although Mum is going off by herself and doing the Atlantis submarine. I think we will do Mayans Through the Ages in Costa Maya. Sounds interesting. Grand Cayman - no idea.

We did the tequila tasting last time which we enjoyed. We will try one of them this time, just not sure which one. I guess it will depend on when they are on. There is just so much to do onboard.

From what I can gather Pirate night is on the day we go to Cozumel. I have no idea what day to do Palo either. The menu's look great every night. Its a shame to miss any of them. And I dont want to miss any of the Animators Palate shows. I'm thinking I might go for a later Palo reservation (if I can get one of course) and then still take the kids to the main dining room for dinner. But then I would have to be strong and not order anything. :)

Not sure exactly how late the kids club close but on our last cruise there was a day that I was dragging (not literally) Megan out of the kids club close to midnight. I'm sure she could have gone all night if they'd let her. :rolleyes1

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our new cruisers!

Sorry I have been MIA lately. A 9 month old daughter, training for a marathon, and being a budget analyst for a near bankrupt municipality will do that to you.

I just updated the FE list with all of the new people who said they wanted to participate. I am also going to PM all of the people who have signed up for the FE or roll call and confirm whether or not they are still going on the cruise and want to be on the roll call.

We should figure out when to close the FE list, I figure around 75 days out is pretty good, it will give people enough time to prepare, but if anyone feels strongly one way or the other about it, let me know.

I got back last week from a 5 night double dip on the Dream, and cannot wait until the Fantasy (my parents and brother were on the maiden voyage, the stinkers). Cruising with an infant really is a different experience than cruising as a couple.

Hope everyone is doing well, and I will be around more now (I hope).

Glad you had a great time on the Dream. I'd love to do a double dip. Two days in paradise :lovestruc

75 days for the FE sounds good to me. I don't have any definite feelings one way or another. That gives us plenty of time to organise ourselves.

Hi friends!
I'm nervous:scared1:.I don´t know that tours do:sad2:.Anybody speak Spanish:flower3:?. I could help a lot. I like to participate in the FE, but i don´t understand it. It is difficult for the language. I am sad.:guilty:
I would like go to georgetowm and seven mile beach in gran cayman? it is possible?is sure?what diference is there between maya ruins tour and maya ruins tour (only adult)?

Thanks. PrincessBell! I think planning excursions and when to eat at Palo is causing me the biggest anxiety!:confused3

I have bookmarked a few excursions. I know the 12 yo want to zip line and I want my girls to see some ancient Mayan Ruins @ Costa Maya. We are going to Discovery Cove before the cruise so I am not going to book Dolphin Adventures.

I would love some suggestions for my family. We have 2 - 12 yo girls and a 7 year old girl.

We are in the first seating! I booked this cruise back in Jan 2011. We were having a nasty snow storm and it was an impulse buy:yay: I guess we could go to the dining room with the kids and the tweens can go to the edge and my 7 yo to her club.

What time does the 1st seating end so I know when to book! Yes. It will be hard not to eat while my kids are eating. Maybe a little appetizer?;)

Oh, Olympia, I feel so sad for you. I don't know Spanish at all so I can't help with translations.

I FOUND SOMETHING FOR YOU!!!!!! :yay:

Go to Yahoo's Babel Fish. Under the "Translate a Web Page" section, type in http:// disneycruise.disney.go.com/cruises-destinations/shore-excursions/ , select translate from English to Spanish, and click Translate.

You will be able to read every excursion description in Spanish!

We're planning on doing the Mayan ruins at Costa Maya. Looks really nice and the transportation to and from isn't as long as on Cozumel. DS and I plan on snorkeling in Grand Cayman while my mom and DB go on the Nautilus reef tour. In Cozumel, we'll do the Island Highlights and Ruins tour. :yay:

Glad that translator worked for you!

I don't think the excursions with or without children take different routes, I just think the "adults only" is for people who prefer to tour only with other adults. :goodvibes

From what I've read, you can book excursions on June 4th (us first-time cruisers) but you don't pay for them until we're ON the cruise. The fees are added to your room bill and you pay it at the end of the cruise. If you book excursions through Disney and the ship can't dock or the excursion is cancelled for some reason, we won't be charged at all. :thumbsup2

That is good to know. The same time last year Hurricane Irene hit! I have been a bit concerned. On the Disney Cruise Board I asked those that cruised that week how it was. They said it was rough the day of the hurricane. The rest of the cruise was great. They said they were unable to port at Castaway Cay.:sad2:

I have read that this hurricane season is going to be very mild. I am hoping and praying for wonderful weather!

I've never been to Grand Cayman and was looking into what I wanted to do while there. I wanted to go to Stingray City and the Turtle Farm but because the ship gets in so late (10:45) and leaves at 4:45, I don't thing we can do both. I'm slightly annoyed because of the short port time (especially since you have to take the little boat into the port!).

I'm arranging my excursions outside of Disney (for me it's the better price and better flexibility - I've cruised several times and prefer this) and decided on doing Captain Marvins tours - they actually do the Disney excursion for Stingray City. I emailed them and they told me they set up a special time for the DCL Fantasy that will leave at 12 - cost is $38 adult and $27.50 for child
which may be lower than Disney (I tried to check website but it's down right now).

We are able to book a week from Saturday.

Not sure what excursions we are going to do. I want to do something to see the ruins, but having a (then) 1 year old, that might be tough.

I read that the farm of turtles was boring and to did not like. I will go by free in taxi. I hope to return in time to the boat. it is certain that there are few hours to enjoy the island:. In cozumel I would like to go to the beach of carmen, but also i will go in taxi.

if somebody wants to share excursion ....
