I read posts dating back to 2011/early-mid 2012 that people experienced awful vibrations in Stateroom 7180 on the Fantasy, so much so that it made them physically ill (headache, nausea, etc.) and they couldn't sleep. Is that still the case?

The Fantasy's maiden voyage was in March 2012, so you won't find anything earlier than that for room reports about it. As far as vibrations go - I'm prone to sea sickness and sensitive to motion when nobody else in my party was feeling it. My mom had 6180. The times I was in the room visiting with her or sitting on the verandah, there was a constant vibration. I would say it was more of a hum than the washing machine on spin cycle. However, she said it did kick up when going into ports and I believe the cabin host said they were right above the thrusters. She's a very light sleeper and had no complaints of it keeping her awake at night. I think it helped that it is a constant feeling. Good luck!

We were in 7680,same stateroom on the other side and didn´t experience any Problems. In fact I booked the same stateroom again for our cruise in2014.

We are in 7182 on the Fantasy leaving this Saturday - remind me in a couple of weeks and I'll let you know how it is.

I'm booked in 7182 in 87 days. Take good care of our room ;)
Here is where I would put the popcorn munching smily if we had one on this board ;)

I am a super lite sleeper. I booked the back to avoid alot of foot traffic. People walking in the halls will wake me right up. However, that feeling you get in a car or plane in motion makes me soooo sleepy. This might be a fantastic but of news.

Just back from the Fantasy yesterday :( Post cruise depression sucks! But hopefully posting on this board will be some much needed therapy!

So, here is my detailed review on our room location of 7182 (I will post a stateroom report later). The location is okay - not the best in the world but we got some much needed exercise! We docked on the port side in all 3 places (St. Maarten, St. Thomas and CC), so the views from our verandah were great!!

The first night was very rocky - the captain said it was a lot of wind and we also crossed the Gulf Stream at that time which added to the motion. It was bad in our room, but it was equally as bad in all other parts of the ship (WDT, by the pools, in the atrium, etc.). When we were watching the show in the WDT, the curtains were literally swaying back and forth. The actors, however, did not miss a beat!

Nights 2, 3, and 4 were perfect. When docking, you do hear the thrusters more in the aft rooms than you do in forward but it's not that loud and there was barely any vibration.

Night 5 was a different story. The CD has told us that the ship would have to travel close to maximum speed when leaving St. Thomas in order to reach CC on time. The vibration that night was HORRIBLE! I was literally shaking in bed the entire night. Also, the wooden hangers in the closet were rattling. Right around sunrise, I finally took a pillow and went to Deck 4 to try to get some sleep. There was no vibration there at all.

A few things worth mentioning about the vibration...
- It didn't bother my husband and he was in the same bed, so the tolerance level depends on the individual.
- I do not get seasick but thought I was going to on the first night (I went to GS and got a pack of pills and I was fine). The vibration did not leave me with that same feeling I had the first night. I didn't feel sick - it was just very uncomfortable and lasted all night.
- I tried laying on the pull-out sofa my son was sleeping on and that was much better. I don't know if it was because it it sideways in the room or if it's firmer, but the vibration on the sofa bed was much less noticeable than in the queen bed.
- We were an hour late leaving that day because the ship actually waited for a family on a non-Disney excursion. I don't know if the ship traveled faster than planned to make up that time or if they had built in some cushion for unforeseen circumstances.

Night 6 was the night before CC and it was fine. No vibrations whatsoever.

Night 7 the Captain said it would be rocky because we were crossing the Gulf Stream again. We felt nothing in the room.

So, bottom line is there was only 1 night where I regretted staying in an aft room. One bad night out of 7 wasn't that big of a deal and we wouldn't hesitate to stay in aft again as long as we chose an itinerary that didn't have multiple nights of traveling at max speed.

Hope that helps.

My sister stayed in that stateroom last year and didn't have any problems with it. Have fun!

Wow, thanks for coming back to post about your experience! Unlike the rest of my family, I'm a very light sleeper. It sounds like I might have problems while in the room and maybe I should look into switching to a forward stateroom. Thanks again; your review was much appreciated!
