IKR?? We were considering going back to Disney next summer and after reading all the threads on the other boards, I am not going back anytime soon.[/QUOTE
I enjoy reading those to see how the Disney apologists are defending all that nonsense.

From the looks of it we are in those few people who like the parks equally. I love the thrill rides of US/IOA but also like certain rides at WDW. We have never stayed on site at US, but we have found the lines very manageable. We like them both for different reason. I am a Harry Potter fan, and the theming is AMAZING!!! Have fun.

You really really should try it out. :)

We still like WDW and nothing has scared us off, AND we like Universal. If it weren't for owning DVC I'm not sure we would stay onsite at WDW as often as we do. But when we know we're doing Universal we stay at Universal. The perks there are SO much better than the perks at WDW for staying onsite there!

Speaking of the two parks and the changes...I keep waiting for Universal merchandise people to create some sort of fabric, Universal-themed, cover for "bracelets" tourists might possibly be wearing. ;)

IN fact I think I might have to check out fabric stores this month, see if there's some fun fabric that I can make my own covers with for the WDW portion of our stay. I already love wearing my Tink lanyard pouch on my Ravenclaw lanyard...why not take it further? Show my Universal-love. ;)

you mean a darkside theme character to cover the motherland magic band.....

i'm just pulling your leg...

We've gone to Universal on 3 occasions and have had a lot of fun; and we love WDW. We have not stayed on-site, so I can't comment on that.

I think they are quite different theme parks with different types of rides. Universal has nailed the ability to incorporate film into the immersion experience, and that is fascinating to us. However, we haven't been in a position to say that we wish we had more time at the parks.

Interestingly, on our last trip, we found the walk-on lines faster, in some cases, than the express lines, but I am sure that was more of a fluke that day.

When we visit Orlando, we always do both Universal and WDW. Can't compare the two, both are so different.

We stay on site and wouldn't go otherwise. All three hotels are great, but we love The Hard Rock the most because it is closer to the parks than the other two. Makes it easier for us after long days of rides!

Don't forget to see the horror makeup show! We love it!

I wouldn't advise a trip to Universal if you don't like thrill rides, but we have friends who won't even get near a roller coaster and they really enjoyed Universal this year.

Universal is just so amazing! I'm always so immersed into whatever area I'm in. WWOHP made me feel like I was in Hogsmede. I'll be walking around, and then I'll think "Oh yeah, I still have the entire park to do. Forgot I was in a theme park." Transformers is just so unreal. When the Transformers speak to you, you can really hear the emotion in their voices, I forget that it's a ride. I've never felt like I was a part of the story in Disney, but Universal gets me so involved and that's what I love so much about it. Anyone that has never gone seriously needs to give it a shot. It's not about the thrill rides, it's about being a part of your favorite things.

'tis exactly what I'm talking about. :)

FWIW, we barely touch the thrill rides and still love the place.

I don't like them.
DH will love them once he can fit on them.
DS now loves them but I won't let him go alone (b/c I'm a nervous wreck who the books "Worst Case Scenario" were written for) so he can only go on them when I can deal with going on them.

And still we find a ton to do in the parks.

Our friends did too. ;) they stayed busy the entire 3 days. We go for thrill ;) ;)

Your post makes me excited about trying Transformers.

I also love much of the theming in Universal. I even enjoy the New York area in the Studios and only wish that there was more.

You will love Transformers. Next to FJ and Spider-Man, I'd say it's the most guest immersed attraction. And yes, the theming is incredible. I could probably spend hours looking at all the little details. They did a really great job with the parks.

My favorite attraction is Harry Potter Forbidden Journey, Spiderman was pretty much my 2nd favorite but in my opinion Transformers is better than Spiderman. It's similar but way faster paced, I love it! It's nice and smooth, not rough or anything but it's pretty much non stop action through the entire ride. It's cool that I like it so much even though I never really paid much attention to Transformers, that's my idea of a good ride, one that you can enjoy even if you never really followed the material that the ride is based on.

I would strongly recommend not doing Spiderman before Transformers during your trip. We did and I simply could not appreciate Transformers for anything but "isn't this just Spiderman?" :(

And with my hearing I couldn't understand a single word that was being said, so I ended up with a very different opinion of the ride than hubby and son. Sniffle. I hate not loving something at Universal.

Loved Spiderman ride and I don't even like the Spiderman movies. Transformers was just "eh" for me. But you might have a point, we did go on Spiderman first (several times!) before getting over to Transformers.

agree..I didnt care for Transformers at all..It was hard to hear, hard to follow and just too much going on

same here.

i had to do the TF ride three times before i could catch what all was being said.

for me, spiderman ride was smoother.

TF is not a bad ride, in fact i did enjoy it.
and i plan to go on it again in my next trips.

if i had to chose only one to ride, it would be spiderman.

Just a thought...I wonder how the BTGs (Brazilian Tour Groups) will affect stand by lines at WDW once FP+ is up and running? We know how bad they are now but all I can say is...it won't be pretty. :scared:
