Disney Family Traditions

Some of my traditions include:
Eating fried chicken & a coke float at Primetime 50's cafe
Watching Festival of the Lion King at least once
Watching Wishes
Having at least one princess meal
See Chip & Dale as many times as possible
Eat at the Crystal Palace
Ride the Haunted Mansion
If at Christmas, MUST do the Candlelight Processional

First morning/breakfast: Chef MIckey's.

plus Hoop Dee Doo revue has been done every single trip as well!

I donno if you can call it a tradition, really, since I've only been to WDW once yet (Feb. here I come!), but I know that since it was what I did my first trip and fell head over heels in love, every time i go to WDW I will go to the Magic Kingdom and head straight for the Carousel of Progress. "There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!!!!!!!!!"

That ride sealed the deal for me, and I am a Disney addict forever and ever amen, til death do us part. I just can't see any other way to do it! :wizard:

My DD buys a glass from the glass shop on Main Street every year. They engrave her name on it. This year she decided to put the year on it as well. She has four glasses now. I love that she started her own tradition. We always do Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys. We take lots of pictures. I love looking at the pictures year after year and watching the kids grow up.

Many years ago when our children we growing up, now both married, our almost annual Disney tradition, now this is in the late 70's and 80's, was to check in, most always the CR and don our suits and jump into the lake. Back then, swimming was allowed and we most always went late June or August, very hot, lake like bath water.

Still a tradition but now we jump into the pool, usually first thing, though resorts have changed, we're now Poly and WL stayers, and the other tradition is going over to FW at Crocketts Tavern/Trails End in the evenings for some pizza and pitchers of beer, watch the EWP from shore and boat back for a late night pool dip at the resort. First day hardly changes for us so I guess its our tradition.

we always do pin trading when we go and on our first full day we go to the magic kingdom and take the train around the park.

We always seem to arrive around lunch time on our first day so we always have a late lunch/early dinner at tony's town square. We toast the beginning of another wonderful vacation and we always talk about what we can't wait to do. :cheer2:

We get a Christmas ornament too. (Actually we do that for every vacation -WDW or other). We loved the POR carriage ride last time, and we think that we are going to do that every 1st night we are at Disney. It was beautiful and relaxing and exciting all at once.... :goodvibes

We also go to Epcot right after check in, just for a couple of hours and ride the "golf ball" (as our kids say) and walk around a bit. Then we head back to the resort and eat at our resort. This year we will add the carriage ride to our 1st day's tradition.

Our daughter chose the number one tradition herself when she was very little. She loves Spaceship Earth, so we ALWAYS go to EPCOT first and the first thing we ride is Spaceship Earth.

Long before we had kids, my DH and I started a collection of Disney figurines. We've even included a couple snow globes in the collection over the years. Also included has been Disney Cruise Line.

Long before we ever leave for our trip, it's become tradition to have a family meeting (or several) to plan our dining for the trip. Everyone gets to pick a couple restaurants and we try to fit it all into the plan. This year, we included a couple old favorites, but the plan is to try places we either haven't been to before or haven't been to in a long time.

I'm hoping to start a new tradition on our upcoming trip (10 more days! :Pinkbounc ) Since DH and I met in a photography class and love to take pictures, we want to get the kids more involved in this process. I plan to call a 10-15 minute "photo time" each day. Each of us, kids included, has to take a minimum of 2 pictures during that time. It will be interesting to see the unique things the kids see that we as adults overlook. DH will probably go off with DD and I'll take DS in a different direction during that time, so we can help the kids out a little with composition, etc.

We also have a little competition each time we ride Buzz Lightyear. DH writes down the scores after each time we ride. I'm sure we've got scores written down somewhere for years. The person with the most "high" scores of course gets major bragging rights.

Ice cream break each day is another good tradition. It's a good time to just sit for a few minutes and relax. ::MinnieMo

We eat at 'Ohana the first night.

We always buy a Christmas ornament with the year on it.

I usually buy a frame with the year on it for one of our family pictures.

We always have dinner at Chef Mickeys the first night and then we ride the monorail. We dont go to the parks until the next morning.

We do this also! :) We also spend part of the first day exploring the hotel (we like to stay at a different one each trip). We go to the MK on the next full day. We must do dinner at Ohana and LTT each trip. On our last day we are back in the MK and have dinner at Tony's Townsquare!

Eating at Crystal Palace EVERY trip there hasnt been a WDW trip we have been on that we didnt eat there and I will continue this tradition with my kids.
