Are these hours reserved for Disney Resort Guests only or can anyone attend? I know, I silly question, but had to ask....

A bit of both.

While anyone can REMAIN INSIDE a park offering PM EMH, only on-site guests can
ride the open attractions during the EMH.
(Guests must show their current WDW Resort key-cards to enter a ride queue.)

Off-site guests can stroll the park, dine and shop, but without being able to ride attractions,
most tire quickly and exit relatively early in the EMH.

For AM EMH off-site guests are restricted from entering the AM EMH park until regular hours begin.

It's just for guests who are staying on property, along with a couple of other resorts who have a special relationship with Disney, like Swan/Dolphin or (I think) Shades of Green...
One advantage to staying at a non preferred hotel is that you're not torn between going to the EMH or going to the less crowded park of the day....

Anyone can remain in the park during EMH, but only those with resort keys can ride rides or other attractions. Non-Disney guests can shop and eat, too.

Yes, unless you're talking about morning EMH...they won't let you into the park at all.

You're correct. I was talking about evening. You can't "remain in the park" unless you were let in to begin with. :goodvibes

Yes, I wasn't correcting you, just letting OP know that they won't let her in for morning EMH to shop...(though I THINK she could do an ADR during morning EMH....then they'll let her in if she's on the list)

But now that they have cut out evening EMH characters, cut down EMH from 3 hours to 2 hours AND just cut the number of Magic Kingdom evening EMH to one day a week, what are the advantages of staying on-site and paying more money :furious:

I was just asking my dh that very same question, and I really like being onsite.:confused3

Ditto! My family is feeling the same. Not so sure what our relationship with Disney will be in the future. We are DVC members, but you know, that can change too. Or, we'll just keep our membership, and venture off property. Just not sure yet.

I have a feeling they're weaning us off of EMH and will be introducing special FP+ perks to onsite guests.
I'm going to UO/IOA for the first time in August...you can buy a pass that will get you express line access for one time per ride for the day, the price depends on how crowded they expect to be. The more crowded, the more expensive, but the more you need it.
However, if you stay onsite with them, you get an unlimited express pass that gets you onto any ride that uses it (most of them) as much as you want all day long... No waiting for windows to open or timing your FP around your meal....
Don't you think people would stay on site for a similar perk at WDW?

Perhaps, but those who stay onsite, love their EMH. Plus, as of now, the chatter is that the fastpass+ will incorporate making "ride reservations", unlike UO/IOA, starting 60 days prior to arrival. Some like this, some don't. I can see how this could benefit a family when planning around an ADR, but I am not so sure as a whole, how much my family would like it. Life changes quickly on a daily basis. To plan rides 60 days prior to arrival could backfire. Just not sure yet. I guess we have to do the wait and see.

I was just "resort shopping" for my next trip, but reading about all the changes, and knowing that FD isn't looking good, I think I'll be staying off property for the first time ever. With a family of 6, the perks don't seem to justify the cost any longer. :(

I helped two families plan their trips for May and they both came to the same conclusion. One of them decided to spend two weeks in the Florida area and only 4 of those days in WDW. Things are changing for sure. :crazy2:

This is us, too. I love Disney, but these changes are not anything we are impressed with. Our intention last year was to purchase Aulani and G-Flo DVC contracts this year when G-Flo starts selling. However, we decided not to buy in and we are going to sell all of our contracts except the one that is paid off.
