Just wanted to let folks know that I just heard from my broker on the purchase of 100 points at VWL and Disney opted to take it back. She said that all 5 of the VWL resales that she submitted were taken by Disney, ranging from $66 to $71 per point.

I'll just have to wait until another comes on the market.

Sorry for your bad news.:(
Another will come along or you just may opt to buy from Disney. With the rofr bumping the prices up, buying from Disney is no longer a lot more in cost. There are benefits with buying from Disney.

Good luck on your next one!

Hopefully you can get a good deal on the next one!

By the way, how long before you actually found out about ROFR on this one?

I guess I feel lucky then since I picked up 100 points last month for VB at $65/pt with seller's paying the costs plus 100 points banked from last year.

You just never know what they will do, do you?

Sorry, but keep trying!

I don't think that you can spot a trend at all. It's strange. Some go through, some don't. Can't figure it out. Wish we had someone involved in the ROFR dept w/Disney here on the boards trying to explain it for us. That would be interesting to hear.

Dh says they use a dart board.

Rae, could you either post or PM me as to where you found this contract? My DH and I are on the verge of buying 50 points at VB through Disney, but your deal sounds way better! We'd love to find a deal like this :)

I look at the Timeshare Store for the resales. We did a direct purchase for HH, then a resale for both VWL and VB.
If you look there, look at the properties and see both the price they are asking AND the points available. Then when I called Jerry at the Timeshare Store, I asked him if the sellers would pay the costs and they agreed! I ended up with 200 points for the price of 100 at $65.00 point - I never thought Disney would let it go through - but again, the "dart board" theory!

We have THREE different use years, but I use my points to cruise, so it really doesn't matter. Maybe if I get more points, it will!! With all my points paid off, I see this as our retirement vacation investment! And as we get older, it's a better deal all the time!

Keep looking and always ask if they will pay costs or negotiate for a lower price.

Good luck!

Rae
