Can anyone give me an insight into what time they had the Disney Exclusive lumberjack show in Ketchikan? They don't list the time on the disney website and we need to know that to plan the rest of the day. Thanks!!

I'm pretty sure I added our time to the thread above that was already posted but ours was 2:45pm in 6/2013. I decided to book directly with DCL for the "exclusive" side as they add stuff for the kids like the Mickey heads in the wood, lots of interaction, and if I remember it really wasn't that much more so it felt worth it to me. If you don't have kids or your kids might not be into that then I wouldn't hesitate to book direct if you see a time you prefer.

That 2014 excursion times thread is super helpful. I hadn't come across that. Thanks for posting.

We were thinking about doing this show. After looking at the direct site above I am going to book directly. DCL charges the adult price for kids starting at 10 but the company charges kids prices for 3-12.

Hello,
We went to the show in 2013 and would not go back. It was just alright. My daughter who was 11 found it boring. It is geared toward younger kids. Out of all of our excursions that is the only one that was just ok. I am sure the regular show is better. My uncle loved the regular show. This is just our opinion, hope it helps.:)

Yes,it does help! Thanks for letting me know it wasn't great. There are precious few hours on land in Alaska so I didn't want to do something that wasn't great.

I would say our experience was the same. A very corny show. We did the DCL exclusive one out side of the Kid part with the Mickey wood chips, not sure how much it was related to regular show. My understanding is unless there are a lot of ships in port, it will not sell out. You can probably walk up and get a seat.

Out of all the DCL Alaska excursions that we our least favorite. Not as memorable. I guess I would say check out Tripadvisor to see what others are saying.

when i called the company directly, the rep said there is some audience participation at the beginning of the show in the DCL-exclusive one. they didn't even mention the mickey-shaped wood chips.

When we saw it, there was very little Disney stuff. There was a classic three-circle mickey painted on the washtubs they were using for target practice with the kids before the show. And the MC was wearing Mickey ears and introduced herself as some punny Disney-esque name I can't recall. Otherwise it seemed to be the standard show. When we were there, the first show of the day was the Disney "exclusive" and you could easily book it yourself. It was only Disney-exclusive because Disney was the only ship in port early in the morning. The other ships didn't arrive until 11 or noon.

As to the show, it seemed like a perfectly decent lumberjack show. I wouldn't call myself a serious student of lumberjack shows, but I guess I've seen three or four and this one was probably the best. They're not high art, let me put it that way. The "competition" aspect is really just a hook to do a bunch of lumber-related skill exhibitions. This show had an extra plot line involving a masked lumberjack who kept sneaking into the camp and stealing wood chips, and all the kids were supposed to warn the lumberjacks when the masked lumberjack showed up. Amazingly enough, the MC was never looking the right way when the masked bandit stole the wood chips. Amazing. Eventually the masked bandit was challenged to a showdown, or something along those lines, and he was revealed to be: another lumberjack who works for the show. We were all shocked, I tell you, shocked! :)

If you're not expecting Shakespeare, it's all in good fun, and not super long. You can easily do the show and another excursion that leaves later. We did this one (booked ourselves) and the zodiac wildlife adventure. The zodiac thing was fantastic; highly recommended.

Thanks for all the reviews. We are still trying to decide what to do in Ketchikan and this is on our list of possibilities. Our youngest in the group is 14 ..hmmm
