I'm considering using Disney with entertainment for my reception, either a jazz ensemble or a dj. Did anyone use Disney, how much did you pay, how much was the tax??? Definitely trying to stay within our budget but still have a wonderful time. :thumbsup2

My daughter used all Disney vendors and their DJ was "Frankie C". Ask your planner if he is still with Disney. He was very good and knew all the music you would want him to play. It was a Jewish wedding and he knew and had all of the traditional Jewish music etc. that is played at the reception. He was great and everyone had a wonderful time. Their planner had suggested him and they had only talked to him I think once over the phone and via email. She had a Wishes wedding with about 120 people.

We had a jazz trio, which they actually customized to be a ragtime trio at my request. They were awesome! I think it was around $1500, but I don't precisely remember.

We're having DJ Steve. He actually just called me yesterday to discuss some things. He seems really nice. Knew all the music we wanted played and sounds so fun! I haven't gotten my BEO yet but I am under the impression it's $1500 (I could be wrong)

Did you go through Disney? I'm considering doing a DJ also, I budgeted for $1500.00...I'm just wondering if there is tax on that?

I'm really trying to stay on point with the money we spend, writing out a spread-sheet as I type, :rotfl:

Yes, I went through Disney getting an outside vendor fo DJing isn't worth it because you get charged a $900+ setup fee By Disney on top of what your paying the outside vendor.

Can you request a DJ through Disney or do you just have to take who they give you? Has anyone had a DJ and a band? I wanted to use the DJ when the band takes breaks. Just wondered if anyone had done this?

I requested a few different DJs. And my planner recommended one for us based on our personalities when we met at the planning session. He just called me and seemed really nice and outgoing.

The DJ's all do a very good job and are worth it. They will work with you and take your personality/requests into consideration. My favorite DJ was the one who played "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" for a couple's 50th Wedding Anniversary/Vow Renewal. Cinderella was having a hair issue so our captain asked the DJ to stall. I'll never forget her running in to tell us that was the song he had chosen! I'm assuming somebody requested it and it was obvious that the guests thought it was a riot. (The couple had a sense of humor). I was always really impressed with their DJs.

Except for the Escape Weddings where they have the violin player, I don't think any of the weddings I did had live musicians, although I'm sure that anybody you would pick would be wonderful. They have very high standards for their entertainers.

We had Scott Messina as our DJ. I seriously can't say enough great things about him. He truly made our wedding the party that it was (and boy was it!)! He has been w/ Disney for MANY years and has his own company as well. Scott's done many big name weddings and simply does a spectacular job. Check out his website: www.mycelebritydj.com

For our ceremony and cocktail hour we had a string trio. I believe it was $1365. We initially planned on a string quartet, but my planner said the trio would be enough. (And it saved us $400 :thumbsup2)

Good Luck with your decisions!

You can request any Disney-approved DJ thru Disney, just do it early, because as someone else said, most all Disney DJs also have their own companies and do local Orlando (non-Disney) weddings as well. Disney will normally confirm DJs about 60-90 days out, but the local market books about 9-12 months in advance. So availability is the key.

You can also have a DJ do band breaks (I have done this a number of times). However you will pay the full rate, because the DJ is paid for total hours, (not just the breaks! :) )

Hope this helps!
