Disney Eggs....Really? I mean, Really?

I never thought I would be one of those people that would buy such silly items. The kids for some reason will eat anything that comes in Disney wrap. We buy apples already sliced, mickey mouse shaped pizza, chicken nuggets etc.

That's cute;)

Is Disney food and produce new back east? We've had it all for several years here in California. I thought it was irritating when I first heard about it back then, but I've gotten some of the stuff and it's actually pretty good. It tends to be pricier, so we usually only get it if it's on markdown. Their apple slices are quite good and taste very fresh and are so crisp. They used to have their own version of Goober Grape Peanut Butter that I thought was better than the other brand. And their milk was SO good.

I figure if Dora the Explorer and Elmo can be on absolultely ANY foodstuff sold to children, why can't Disney get in on it too? It only makes marketing sense to me, especially in the Central Florida area. :flower3:

Count me in the side that doesn't quite get the uproar over this. So they branded some eggs? Is that really the end of civilization as we know it?

We complain about the layoffs; we complain about them cutting corners in the park; we complain about the movies.....but when they try to earn some cash that doesn't really hurt anybody, we complain about that.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I feel like this is (pardon the pun) egg-xactly what they should be doing.

Now we tried the individually wrapped cheese slices a few years ago, they were simply horrible. Not saying IWS ever taste as good as the real deal, but we had to throw them out. They had a very odd, other taste, that was definitely not a cheese taste. I don't quite recall, but it was like they processed them in the same plant as a strong smelling vegetable and the two smells melded. Now that being said, i have tried a few more, but still usually go back to my regular brand or store brand.

We haven't had that many Disney food products. It might have been two years ago they came out with the Disney cereal and then graham cookies. Then I think last summer the Mickey pizza and apple slices. The chicken nuggets you can only get at Costco and they have only been out around 2 months. It is amazing what the kids will eat because its shaped like Mickey. I haven't seen the eggs yet.

I agree.

As the mother of 2 Princess that are very food picky, I welcome the occasional Disney themed product. They swear to me that Princess Fruit Snacks taste better then all the others. :goodvibes So be it, if it gets them to eat their vegetables or eggs. I'll take all the help I can get.

I think some people are missing the whole point. Companies have been putting characters on packaging for produce and other assorted healthy foods as a answer to parents complaints about kids wanting junk because of character representation and commercials so forth.

Now dont get me wrong any of these companies are about the money ( Disney as well) . But the means of this type of packaging is to help parents to convince kids to buy these healthier choices. i.e. Mickey cheese , pizza, apples, eggs , etc. .

There have been several articles written about this new move being done by several companies in a attempt to please parents and be more morally correct.

I even heard that certain major cereal manufacturers were going to limit and in some cases remove character representation on higher sugar type cereals.

Just like America has been waking up to the whole " Go green" concept , parents have been becoming increasingly aware of childhood obesity and the manufacturers are seeing this as a opportunity to jump on board .

Its all about the dollar but the end result is still a positive one.

I know I have one child inparticular that has a severe ocd with foods and this type of packaging can help. Take a kid that hates eggs but loves Mickey and you may have a fighting chance!

BTW I dont like all the Disney foods ( hamburgers , chicken , cheese all yucky)but the pizza , apple slices , and the eggs are all yummy!

I bought the disney eggs at Publix I have small kids. We buy egglands best that are the samething these have cute pics egglands best just have eb stamped on them. In florida they have a store that has been popping up called Sweet Bay they have Donald Duck OJ. I bought that too its so cute. Target has Mickey Mouse shaped burgers. And other disney foods. Even Little Einstein milk.

i would just like to point out

THE ENTIRE DISNEY LEGACY IS BASED ON BUSINESS AND ADVERTISING

long before there was Snow White, there were Mickey faces on everything you could imagine

Walt DIsney was a creative man with the attitude of a business mogul (with a little help from Roy, ok, alot of help)

i love the commercialism that Disney represents, and these eggs are just another example of that capitalist spirit

Disney hasnt sold its soul, because it is only doing what any sound business would do, exploring and taking advantage of every market available to them...

if you hate commercialism, then why do you love the biggest commercial enterprise in the world?
