Has anyone heard about this?

I read today on another board that Disney is going to open a section at Orlando Airport and you will be able to do " hotel check in" for all Disney Resorts there!! You would be able to get your keys, tickets, info, etc. Anyone here know or have details about this? I read it is going to be called Disney Earport and that this is on the drawing boards at WDW right now. Sure hope so, this would be wonderful!!

This a 'rumored' part of a new program that will literally digitize and make the guest experience better. The whole idea is to get the guests right away at the airport then keep them on property. Then Disney will subdue them with PDA's and other neato things to help their stay.

Jim Hill had an article on this. Look in his archive.

well in a monthly email update that DVC sends to memebrs they made mention of checking it out at the airport. From what I got from skimming it it sounded like a Disney Store at the airport. But here is the text of what they sent.

A fun new destination
Next time you're making your way through Orlando International Airport, be sure to visit Disney's EarPort. Whether you're coming or going, this exciting new 4,000-square foot shop is a welcome departure offering everything from Walt Disney World ® merchandise and Disney-themed treats to Walt Disney World ® Theme Park tickets.

"We're very excited that this new shop will allow Guests to access Disney merchandise at both ends of the main terminal [with our Magic of Disney ] shop in the West Hall of the terminal," said Sonia Beard, manager of Concept Development for Merchandise Strategy. She added that Flights Fantastic , a smaller Disney shop located in the airport's Delta Airside terminal, will close within several months.

This is all I have heard of it. I didn't hear anything about them doing the checkin. I do remember the thread about the new PDA things and Disney's plan to do checkins at the airport, but have not heard of these together.

This from the same company that is saying if we aren't the only stop for the new bullet train from Tampa to Orlando then don't bother stopping at Disney at all. They want to be the only location to have a station here in Orlando and not even the convention center.
