I’ve searched the boards and could not find out the experiences with purchasing the Travelex insurance over the last few years. We purchased the insurance through DVC on their recommendation because of the pandemic interruptions….which made sense. It clearly covers trip interruptions and medical emergencies etc. well, we’ve never purchased before but because of today’s environment it made sense. During our final day at Aulani we were shopping and I began to have cold chills, vomiting and severe leg pain. I ended up in the ER and had to extend our stay while Doctors determined what was going on. We called travelex/ DVC and followed their guidance. Saving all our receipts, medical reports etc knowing we had to submit for refund. Well, come to find out TravelEx out sources the policy coverage to Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. What wa suppose to take 4 - 6 weeks turned in to 13 weeks with 1 e-mail for communication. The only e-mail sent was an e-mail that claimed the extended stay at Aulani would not be covered because we did not book through DVC. This was 100% incorrect. We did book through DVC. sending additional booking information demonstrating the booking and use of my point….they responded by thanking me for additional information. They did not pay. More importantl, no where in the policy we have does it indicate that we must book through DVC? Why make that statement? We Are at a junction where we need to escalate this and advise Disney, DVC Members, other avenues, dispute the assessment etc. that this is unacceptable and that BHSI is applying fraudulent insurance business practices. We’ve had legal review the policy purchased and reviewed the costs incurred for proper interpretation. is there anyone else who has experienced this response? we are so disappointed…..never once having an issue in life….like this…

We've never purchased the DVC insurance, so I can't contribute to that. I just wanted to say that I hope you made a full recovery from your medical issue!

Yes, thank you. Heck of a way to finish our 35th anniversary! I would also say ” The Queens Medical Center“ Hospital staff was awesome! I was diagnosed with cellulitis and phlebitis. No root cause was determined but possibly the air travel could have contributed. Thankfully no blood clot! This could have been much worse. For additional 3 days total ER cost was $17K and our out of pocket for Aulina, out of pocket for hospital, rental car and food was ~$7K….which alll should be covered…..Travelex/BHSI insurance buyer beware! DVC member since 1994…..
