Looking for 10 days to spend at WDW for a family of 4. I know the crowds are heavy.
Should we go a few days before Christmas and leave before NYE? Or should we just be there for both Christmas and NYE if we can?

If you're already inclined to be there, just be there for both...

We've gone the week before Christmas the last two years, both times coming home around the 22nd or 23rd. We do quick 4 night trips basically to just soak up the atmosphere. Yes, it's crowded but as long as you go knowing that, it's fine.

I should have said that we are planning to be there for Christmas. But should we just plan to be there for the entire holiday or leave before NYE?

I would stay for NYE if you can to see the MK and Epcot fireworks.

With 10 days, if it were me, I'd do both Christmas and NYE. But I'd also get Park Hoppers so I could try and move around if one park was just too crowded for my taste.

We just returned from our first Christmas trip and we did an after xmas/new year trip about 4 years ago. This trip we checked in on the 22nd and checked out on the 30th. We spent a full day there on the 30th before leaving at night to start the drive home. Honestly, I was glad to be home on the 31st. And being there as long as we were I don't feel like I missed anything not being there for the 31st itself. The year we went for New Year's we didn't even go to the park NYE because of the crowds. We spent that year in Disney Springs for New Year's Eve. Either way you can't go wrong but I thought it was nice to be home. We actually left on the 20th and then spent 2 days in Universal first so I was ready to come home.

I would definitely at least stay for Dec. 30 MK fireworks. They were amazing and despite crowds I would do it again. I would definitely recommend doing a dessert party that night. There was plenty of room in the plaza garden and it was nice to sit there for a bit after the show while the crowds dispersed
