DISNEY DREAMING! A Nov/Dec 2010 PTR *12/9 ~ Hello Again!

Park Day 1 - Magic Kingdom
Sunday, November 28th
Add on!

Way back in the summer ;) when I was putting together my wish lists for each park, I'd jotted something down for the Magic Kingdom. When it came time to share the plans here though, I second guessed it and decided against it.

Flash forward to earlier today when I was reading Becky's (ladybugmom) PTR and she mentioned that she had an appointment booked at the place I'd once considered.

What is it?

The Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street.

You might think I wanted to go there for George, Alex or Demetri, but in fact I wanted to take Ariana there. You see, she's never allowed anyone other than me to cut her hair. When she was younger, it took a very very long time for her to even allow me to come near her with scissors. She's now at the point where it doesn't bother her at all for me to trim her bangs or go for an all out style. I once gave her a layered cut of which I was immensely proud of. :rotfl:

Alas however, I am not a hair stylist by any stretch of the imagination and so my train of thought was if Ariana was going to allow anyone to cut her hair, it would be at Disney. George has often joked we should ask a hairdresser to dress up in a Snow White costume and see if that would work.

When it came time to put the plans in place however, it seemed to be something that might take up too much time and might not even allow to happen so I opted against it. But then I read how she'd booked an appointment and it got me thinking again.

When I'd first thought about it, they weren't taking reservations. As of July however, they are. I looked into it and decided to call and see if they had availability for the first MK day we're there, the day of the MVMCP. It would have to be after our Ohana breakfast so I asked for noon and on. They had a 2pm appointment available so I booked it. :cool1:

(Examples from mouseforless and the Disboards respectively.) Fun and if Ariana happens to see another girl get it while she's waiting, I think she just might go ahead with it.

I explained when booking that Ariana might not go through with it, even getting seated in the chair and the CM having scissors in hand before she'd call it quits. There is a $10 charge to your credit card even if you don't go so I figured if Ariana doesn't agree to it, then Demetri can fill in and get some cool dude tips. :cool2:

Cross your fingers she does it! :wizard:

You should totally come check out my new update on my PTR... :rolleyes1

You got it!

Hi Tracy!!:goodvibes:

What a great update!!:thumbsup2 So much to comment on!:)

:woohoo: for having your memory chosen! And such a great memory to share too!!:goodvibes I submitted a few a couple weeks ago and was so excited when I found out they were picked.:thumbsup2

Love Ariana's Halloween costume and Demetri looks so cute as a firefighter!

I can't believe how small your countdown chain is getting! Those comparison pictures are great!

Cute mousekeeping envelopes!! I wasn't so creative on our last trip...I think I did a few, but then decided to have the boys decorate some with Disney stickers.:rolleyes1

I know what you mean about The Nightmare before Christmas. We saw it when it first came out....DH wanted to see it and while he enjoyed it. I didn't...:sad2:

:yay::dance3::cheer2:YAY! for Mickey Mail!!!:cheer2::dance3::yay:

Hey Angie!!

Feel free to post links to your memories here, I'd love to see them :) I've had to tuck their costumes away for now or else they'd wear them out before the day even arrives.

Hey stickers require more effort then clicking the print button ;) I bet they had fun putting them together! :goodvibes

Yeah, Nightmare didn't work out so well but at least it was a short movie. :rotfl:

Whew! Okay... all caught up again! :goodvibes

Hooray for paying off and for the Mickey Mail!!

Sending lots of pixiedust: for Ariana at Harmony Barber shop! Perhaps she'll allow the hairdresser to style her if not cut her. Billy hates getting his hair cut, too. Fortunately we found a hairdresser at KidzCutz that has a lot of experience with ASD kids... even still, he squeezes my hand and chants "It's okay! It's okay! It's okay! until she's done. I told her she is not allowed to retire under any circumstances!

Good idea having cool dude Demitri as a backup!

Kathy

My nephew is autistic too and he HATES getting his haircut. He is now 14 and about 6 foot tall. He's a really big boy. But he has gotten better now too and sits, but still complains about it. Well his complaining is noises, because he can't talk at all.

I hope she goes through with it. It looks like great fun.

:wizard: Here's to getting some pixie dust for Ariana's hair cut....and not just Tink pixie dust but from Walt Disney himself! Did you know that his intended apartment is very closed to the Barber shop above the fire station?

Liam had his one and only professional hair cut there and we got some major pixie dust! I have to cut his hair while he is sleeping

Joining in with sending lots of pixie dust your way that Ariana will be all about getting her hair styled!!! That would be fantastic!!!!

If not I'm sure Demetri will enjoy getting his hair done there LOL!!! They do have some cool things they do for guys!

I'm almost positive she'll allow the styling, especially if she happens to see another girl getting it before her (maybe I should do it too! :lmao:) but I'm really hoping she OK's the cut too.

Ah Billy is so sweet with his chant -- good for him! :goodvibes

It took a long time before Ariana was comfortable letting me do it. Even now, I still let her watch movies to distract her while cutting. I just have to make sure not to block her view or she shifts to look around me and... whoops!

That's right! I remember now reading that in Kingdom Keepers, right? I hope we get the same pixie dust you did. While Liam's sleeping??

It's a great alternative to the Bibbiti Bobbity Boutique. We looked at that on our first trip and my eyes would well up at the thought of Ariana all done up but I knew she wouldn't sit through it.

Just might have to get Alex in on the action too if Demetri does it. :rotfl:

OK, doing some math mine should arrive the Tuesday after next.

Woo hoo! I'm still waiting for my resort info but it's probably any day now.

Hi everyone!

Just a quick little posting here about our elementary school's big yearly fund raiser -- Fright Night! Instead of selling chocolates or what-have-you, the school has a big event every Halloween to raise funds. Every year is tons of fun and this one was no different.

While Alex was a volunteer this year to help run it, Ariana and Demetri were dressed up and very much looking forward to the fun playing games, buying treats and coming home with toys.

First... getting dressed!

Every princess needs a candy apple!

Who doesn't love an eyeball cupcake? :rotfl:

Demetri hung up one of his prizes ....

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!!

I really hope Ariana does well at Harmony! :wizard: The Fright Night looks like a lot of fun and now I really want a candy apple! :rotfl:

Totally off topic, but how are you liking working there?

Sorry it took me so long to get back (and sorry for going off topic again!) - I'm having a blast. I love my coworkers, and while the job is the same day to day, interacting just a little more with guests as they go by helps a lot.

In other news, I am not fond of my roommates at all, but at least I don't see them that much - just their mess.

I think it's great that you are going to try the Barber Shop! Like many others on the spectrum, my boys aren't big fans of the haircut either! Alex was the worst! I used to cut their hair until a couple years ago when they started going to my hairdresser. I hope Ariana loves it! pixiedust:

Fright night looks like it was a ton of fun!! :thumbsup2

I'm assuming the candy apple was good -- it was gone verrry quickly! It was at the school she'd graduated from two years ago and it was wonderful running into all the people that knew her. :goodvibes

No worries -- go off topic as often as you'd like. :thumbsup2 Sorry the roommates are a bummer but woo hoo to everything else!!

Hi Amy! I really hope she does it too. It'd be a big step for her. Then if she continues it when she's home again, bonus! :wizard:

Ooohh...I hope Ariana decides to get her hair done at MK!:goodvibes Sending lots and lots of pixie dust she agrees.pixiedust:

Ariana looks so pretty as Cinderella!!:cutie: Love all the pictures! It looks like it was such a fun time!:thumbsup2 Oh and that candy apple looks so yummy! We're definitely going to have to make some this week!;)
