Disney Dream ~ September 15, 2011

Hi David!
I would say that I'm the better half but we each bring things to the table the other doesn't have so I say we complete each other! I know she will be reading this! I started reading the thread and have gotten to page 10 so far. I saw you were retiring but then Deb said you went back to work. You missed it that much?! I myself work 2 jobs, a full time with a local municipality and a part time at a restaurant. The Mouse can be quite expensive! Thanks for your warm welcome and I'll be checking this thread daily for some fun interaction!

So far I've met Kelly, David and Stephanie or Stefy? Is that your real name or just one that wasn't being used? Just trying to get the names straight cause sometimes I have a hard time with em. I'm at my second job now and if I get home early I'll try to post a pick of me and the fam. If not, I'll get to it tomorrow.

Kelly. That's kinda cool your son met the guys from sons of guns! I don't watch it but I did see them on American Chopper one episode. They seem pretty cool!
I live in Northwest Indiana just outside Chicago and it a little over 1100 miles and Deb and I have driven that straight through a number of times. It's usually an 18 hr trip but with kids it's more like 20 cause we stop at a Micky D's playland so they can burn off some energy. So 800 and something isn't that bad!

Yay!!! People DO post on here!! I was beginning to wonder.

Congrats to those who have received their cruise docs! It's always a welcomed sight especially when you've been waiting so long for the cruise to come!!

By the way, my name is Junior and I'm a Disaholic. My wife is Debbie(luckymomoftwo) and I just figured that I would try and meat some of you that are gonna be on the 9/15, the first of our B2B. So please, if you would be so kind as to indulge me, introduce yourselves to me so I know who I'm talking to at the Dismeet on the ship. Thanks:goodvibes

Intoductions!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello Willy Nilly! This intro was taken from my PTR, pictures didn't cross over though.

Let the introductions begin!

Cast of characters, I truly mean this! With the Ring Leader being DH.

My name is Latoria, aka Toria on the DIS boards. I am a DW first and foremost to Jerome, a mother of 2 lil people, DS Jayden(10) and DD Nakyla(7) and walker, feeder and groomer of a lil silly yorkie named KINGSLEY. For a living I make people GLOW in the DARK! At least that is what I tell them and they get a kick out of it. I am a X-Ray Tech for a wonderful hospital in Northwest Florida. I am a laid back person(hubby would beg to differ) that loves to travel and meticulous planner.

Next character up is wait for it, Jerome the Disney Resistor after a round with Animal Kingdom 2 years ago.

He is the head comedian of the household. Loves all things PS3, football, basketball, baseball, track and field, golf (ewwww),nascar, Ultimate fighting, Boxing, Cooking shows....... Do ya get my drift? I am surprised our Flat Screen has not exploded yet However, he is in the Air Force and has 5 years until retirement. More on how I convinced him to cruise later.

Next Character up is DS Jayden, first trip to Disney was with mommy at the age of 5 and he had me all to himself for 5 days.

Jayden is a quiet, kind and sweet child outside of the womb! I say this because he had me on bedrest for 5 months straight He just did not like his living situation at the time. Anyway, he made his way into the world without the help of my doctor. You heard me right, just slid right on out onto the bed. He didn't even cry, just laid there looking around, probably thinking "I finally made it out and they didn't stop me". He loves any gaming system that he can get his hands on. He comes out of his shell every now and again to be silly. He is super excited about the Edge on the Dream.

Final Character up is DD Nakyla aka Kyla, first trip to Disney was at the age of three. That was a bribe to get her potty trained She kept asking to go to Disney, so hey I made it work in my favor. Potty trained in less than a week.

This lil person unlike my son was a handful. She was trouble too in the womb! Bedrest for 4 months with this one( I just think my living quarters were horrible for them ). Anyway, she had the cord wrapped around her neck when she emerged(really don't hang yourself, it couldn't have been that bad in there ). The doctor turned to get the scissors to cut the cord from around neck, SHE YELLED GERONIMO and came flying out! He caught her by one leg before she hit the floor. I knew at that moment that I had a DIVA on my hands. She is a DIVA and holding strong. With all that said they are really great kids. We can take them to fancy restaurants and they know how to behave. We often get compliments about how well behaved they are. I tell people it is because they know that their MOMMY is CRAZY!

Junior, I'm the world's worst with names. That's why everyone will end up being "Sweetie" or "Handsome" for a little while at least. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I was wondering, is anyone sharing their port plans with each other. Would be interesting to know if some of us are doing the same adventures. But if not it's fine, I get wanting to keep some privacy on your vacation :goodvibes

Hi everybody!!!! :wave2: I haven't posted here since the very beginning of the thread. But I wanted to pop over and say I am SO psyched about doing our first B2B cruise. This 3 day is our first part to be followed by the 4 day DVC member cruise (same state room).

Cast of characters : I am Terrie and my DH is Wally (W@LL-E). No kids, except the four legged kind but we are kids at heart. We are obsessed with all things Disney of course. Some of the other B2Bers that have posted here are friends we made on last year's DVC cruise and some are friends we made this year on the DVC cruise thread. Looking forward to cruising with everyone and having a great time!

Wow toria! Don't you think you planning is a little militant? What do you use to keep everyone on schedule, a taser gun or maybe a Billy club? Have you always used military time or is that something that rubbed off from DH?
My son, Brandon, is 11 and maybe he and Jayden will hook up. I don't know what he will have planned on this cruise. The last cruise we went on was the first time we let him do something on his own which was stay in the pool till it closed. That was a couple years ago. This time he will pretty much have free reign on the ship. Not so much on the beach. I guess there will be a Dismeet on the first day, still don't know what since I heard someone on here is getting married. To think... The selfishness of some people! That was supposed to be written in the sarcasm font but I can't find it. :confused3 very looking forward to this trip! I need a vacation! Haven't been on one since last years SSMC! Can't wait to meet you all!

:lmao: I was in the military as well, so the military time has stuck with me. The hospital that I work in prefer to use military time as well. That should explain the planning thing too. I don't need a stun gun or club; I can make this one face followed by a deadly silence and the family knows to get their act together. When they experience that, they know that Mommy is about to go COO COO FOR COCOA PUFFS in 10 secs flat.:rotfl2:

.Hi Junior
Nice to meet you. My name is Maya, I will be traveling with DH Paul, DD Velia 6 and DD Alessandra 2. This is our first ever cruise so were trying to relax and do everything easy peasy.
Especially crossing fingers DH doesn't get sea sick, if so then I guess he's banished to the stateroom:sick:
Don't really have plans to get off @ Nassau. Just CC for some tubing and snorokling.
Just look for us we're the little people, well almost.:thumbsup2
By the way so excited my FE came this week (I CANNOT SEW TO SAVE MY LIFE) so it was ordered:confused3
WE are planning on leaving home maybe 6ish:confused: to get to the port in time. We are on deck 7 and maybe going to disney before going home or something like that:cool1:

Junior, the only thing I bring to our table is my hunger for the food on the table!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: But seriously, she has her special points and I have a few also, so I guess like you and Debbie, we balance each other out as well.
Yes I did semi-retired back in January this year. I continued working part-time for the same company. I worked 3 days a week - 7 hours a day. Then my boss ups and decides he is going to retire. So the company brought in a new supervisor to run the estimating dept. I work as an estimator for a commercial printer in Clearwater, FL. The owner of the company asked me if I would consider coming back to work full time until the end of the year to help the new boss adjust to his new duties. :scared1: And, crazy ol' me said yes!!!! I know what ya'll are thinking.............why David? Why? My social security stops until I go back to part-time - I don't have those nice 4 day week-ends any more - I have to get up at the crack of dawn E A C H and everyday. Just chalk it up to.........stupidity.........thanks sweetheart for that word I was searching for!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:
Well, It is time for me to start to work. Talk to ya'll again soon.:woohoo:

I am attending my dd's wedding on CC :thumbsup2

Ok I think you know I am Aimee's mom. She will be the bride on CC. Very excited as she has wanted a Disney wedding since she was old enough to figure out she could get married at Disney (about 5 I think?)

My name is Becky and my dh is Dan. I work 3 jobs (kinda crazy I know).

My full time job is in a theological library where I wear 4 hats (like I said earlier crazy I know)
1st - I am the library Admin Asst (the boss still calls me a secretary) :rotfl2:
2nd - I am the processer (which means I get the books "shelf" ready - labels, security devices, pockets, etc)
3rd - I fix books (so if a spine is ripped [this is the small end of a book where the title usually is], a books pages are torn, the hinge is coming apart [this is where the text block [books pages] fit the spine], or various things that can go wrong with a book - I fix it)
4th - I "bind" books (basically I take paperback books - take the cover off them [which all you have to do is heat it up really hot] reinforce the cover, laminate it - then put it back on) this makes books last lots longer for library use. - Been at the company for 9 years - working in the library for 2 years

First part time job - I work on Saturday nights (3x a month) for an organization where we take people (21 and older) with developmental disabilities into the community to social activities such as bowling, dancing, plays, dinner, mini-golf/game room, etc. This is large scale group activity (i.e. we take anywhere from 50 - 90 clients every week) I have been doing this for about 15 years.

2nd part time job - I work anywhere from 20 - 60 hours a month (in my spare time from the other 2 jobs) :rotfl: where I work with adults age 50 and older that have developmental disabilities 1 on 1 to help them plan for and enjoy their retirement by keeping them active in social activities and connected with others (most people with dd work in sheltered workshops and when they retire they loose their connection to their peers - so we help them keep these connections with their friends) - been doing this for 2 1/2 years

In my spare time I am planning a Disney wedding :bride: with my dd and local reception here in St. Louis when she and my new son-in-law get back from their Disneymoon.

My dh is the mobile network administrator for the police dept - which translates to old city cop turned computer geek :lmao: Seriously he is responsible for all "mobile" devices - i.e. laptops in police cars, laptops out of cars, mobile ticketing devices, cameras for the LPR (license plate recognition) cars etc

I am a Disney lover and dh (Dan) never went to Disney until he was 50 (which was 12 years ago). Since then I have had him to Disney at least 6 times (wish we could go more) He whines and complains everytime but I know he really likes it.

Ok - bored you enough!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Becky

Hi everyone! Cam (DS-16) and I will be on the cruise. This is our 3rd Disney Cruise but first time on the Dream!

DH and Cam will drive to Orlando on Sunday, Sept. 11 for a few days of guy time. They plan to go to Universal and do some pin trading at Disney.

On Tuesday I'll drive down and we'll have a couple of days together as a family.

DH will leave for home on Thursday morning and Cam and I leave for port. Our arrival time is 10:30 but due to new port opening time, we are going to target getting there just after 11 am.

We haven't booked any excursions. Just going to relax and have some fun!

See you all soon!:woohoo:

Good morning to all the 9/15 Dispeeps! It's a great day today. Temps are only gonna be in the high 70s so doing asphalt today will be a breeze! I'm off tonight so I can relax at home a bit, can't wait for that. And I leave in only 32 more days!!!:woohoo:

I too will be spending some one on one time with my son starting the 11th. We are also going to Universal!:woohoo: It might sound crazy but I spent $400 for my son(11) and I to go to Universal on Monday the twelfth. Plus I got a hotel room that I'm not even gonna use just to get into the park an hour earlier to get to Harry Potter before the general gates open up. I also got the VIP tickets so we can have front of the line access at almost every ride!:thumbsup2 This will be his first trip to Universal in about 6 or 7 years so this time he is ready and big enough to do all the good stuff! It's gonna be a blast and know I'll have to buy a wand.

WE are planning on leaving home maybe 6ish:confused: to get to the port in time. We are on deck 7 and maybe going to disney before going home or something like that:cool1:

This is cruise number 8. Number 9 is SSMC right after this one and number 10 will be in January!:woohoo: On one of these three sailings we will book a Fantasy cruise too! We will be platinums for that one! I can't wait for my free Palo dinner, yummmmm!
Yeah you don't miss much by not getting off at Nassau but Paradise Island is very nice. So if you want to leave the ship, take a taxi over there and check out Atlantis or something. Otherwise just stay on the ship and get a massage or something.
"Little People"? What do you mean by that?
I think we are done with our FEs. My wife Deb is the one that is organizing the list for that. Doing the FE exchange is a lot of fun. It's Christmas every day on the ship! Plus we are doing the SSMC so DVC gives you stuff every night too! We will need a couple extra bags to bring all that stuff home with us!
Nice to meet ya!
