Disney Dream ~ September 15, 2011

My family and I just got off of the Dream for a 4 night and we re-booked this cruise as a birthday present for my (Probably overly spoiled) Son, Andy :thumbsup2

He will be turning 6 the day before and we thought this would be fun for all of us. We include; myself Tony, DS Alex, DS Andy and DW Lisa. We live and work in Orlando.

We had a WONDERFUL time on the Dream and just couldn't wait another year to go again so we will see you there. Plus we have some super cool friends from work that are coming too, so party for all! :cool1:

We are booked in stateroom #9556, this will be our second Dream cruise and 4th DCL so if there are any questions I can help with, please ask. We would love to do the FE on this one also if we can?

:welcome: Well, if you're anything like me, you're just using your son's b-day as an excuse to book another cruise. :rotfl2: It just sort of helps justify it if we use a birthday or anniversary as a "reason" to go to WDW or do a Disney Cruise. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I"m glad to hear you enjoyed your first Dream cruise. I've been reading some posts where people didn't feel the "Disney touch" on the ship. But I read those with an open mind...you can't please all of the people all of the time. :thumbsup2

Of course you can join the FE. Email me at FishExtender@Yahoo.com. Include your disboard name, your first names, and stateroom number. I'll email you the list.

Howdy Spoonces! Me & my family will be one of the noob families for this cruise. Great to have someone who juuuuust did a Dream cruise. I'll prob'ly have more questions before long. :thumbsup2

:welcome: It's so good to hear a positive Dream review! What was your favourite restaurant? What was your kids favourite Restaurant? Did you all play that detective game on board?

I really loved the ship, I can see some of what everyone is saying in the reviews and everyone will simply have a different experience. I went onboard with an open mind but I really didn't need it, all was fine and up to Disney Standards. There are certainly some things that are still coming on-line and being learned. On our cruise they eliminated the assigned show times for the main theater and now only do 2 shows on most days, you simply go to the show that does not conflict with your dinner. There was also only one sail away party on our cruise, another change. There can be some waits with that many people on board and some areas were a bit crowded but it was just like a hotel in that sense. I noticed that in addition to the roving photographers, there will soon be stations where you can get a picture to automatically snap you, I saw one at the mini golf and another at the Aquaduck but they were not online yet. I loved Remy but that is an upcharge, I guess my favorite rotational was probably Royal Palace for the atmosphere, the kids loved Animators, if I have a complaint it would be about animators though and Crush, he simply does not have enough time to work the entire room and only a handful of folks get to individually interact, he did however do a lot of group games that everyone played. We did do the detective game, Midship Detective Agency, it is very cute and a lot of fun. There is some congestion so you may wait one or 2 cycles for someone ahead of you to get their clues but they will be different from yours because you all play a different game and in different order. Some nice additions on the Dream are the wave phones, the fact that you can view your account and some pictures from your room TV, the on-demand movies, the alarm clocks, built in nightlights, dimmable room lighting and the re-worked Shutters.

The Kids clubs are of course, simply amazing, the technology and the activities are top notch.

Thanks spoonces, that was great to hear (read). I'm SO looking forward to experiencing the Dream for myself. I'm a glass is half full kind of gal. I'm not worried about anything on board. I figure even if we don't get the best wait team, it'll still be good. Personally I don't think any team could live up to the magic of the team on our very first Cruise. We were spoiled back then. But I've still had a blast on the few cruises since then, and plan on this one too.
And camera's on the Aqua Duck at the mini golf, AWESOME!!! I wonder if photos taken from those would be included on the photo CD for those who purchase it.
Do you know if there was any evening on board where Families could go to dance, like a Family night club, but where kids can go too? One of the on my list of things to enjoy with my son on this cruise, is A DANCE. He'll be 8 and I might embarrass the heck out of him, or he just might enjoy dancing with his mom, but either way, I think we'll both have fun!:)

Just TJ, I think I read somwhere that they had family dancing and karaoke in D Lounge??? Correct me if I am wrong, those that have sailed!

TJ I think you are on our sailing on 9/11 & in our FE!?

Judy,
If you can get Tim to dance, I'll capture it on camera!:woohoo:
Just think, this cruise you might find yourself in a whole bunch more photos than normal

Yes we are!! You're doing the B2B as well?

I was just out at Michael's Craft store tonight to look for ideas for my FE gifts. Think I've come up with one that will be liked as well as will be small enough to pack for all the families I'm gifting to. Too bad ya'll have to wait till Sept to see! ;) Funny thing is, for being a craft store, they didn't really have any employee there that could tell me how to put these together. I've seen made ones on our last cruise as well as ones my daughter did when she was little at GEMS (like Girl Guides). So I guess I'll have to call on those who I know have made them to instruct me on how. Looking forward to getting started on them though!:)

There is dancing at the sail away party and there is dancing during the pirate party. And like Tessasmom said I think there is a family karaoke night.

Hi everyone!!! I will be on this sailing, soooo excited!!! I was able to sail on the Dream in January and it was simply amazing and I couldn't wait to book another sailing!!

My sister(26), my best friend(26 time of cruise) and myself(23 at time of cruise) will be on it and we all are so excited!! My best friends birthday is September 2nd and mine is September 13th so it is going to be one big celebration for us!! Cannot wait to see you all on board!

Only 193 days left...WAHOO:cool1:

Well, I'm away for a couple of days and guess what??!??:confused3 New cruisers come on board..........I learn new things about the Dream I didn't know before.......I feel so left out!!! Got to keep reading each and every day, huh??:thumbsup2

First off let me :welcome::welcome::welcome: all of the new cruisers sailing with us. Glad you are coming along with us. Like JustTJ and some others on here DW and I are doing a B2B. This is going to be sooooooooooo much fun. Our first B2B and our first time on the Dream!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: And, then next June DW and I are taking our DGranddaughter on an Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy!!!:cool1::cool1::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I hope everyone had a great week-end. We are having a little cooler weather down here in Florida today. High today only 73 degrees. Tomorrow though back up near 80!!!! Hope everyone is having some nicer weather after that winter we all just had!!!

Well, I have some errands to do this morning. Hope ya'll have a wonderful day today. Talk to ya'll again soon.:thumbsup2

David, ONLY 73 Degrees? I'd trade places with you if I could. We got a ton of snow yesterday. It's looking like Christmas here again, AND IT'S MARCH!!!
DH took DS7 for a haircut. Man I've got to stop sleeping in on the weekends!!! I've NEVER allowed DH to take this child for a haircut, not after the stunts he's pulled with my other two boys and haircuts. Well this time, or SO HE SAYS, he told the lady "I want a Hockey Cut on him". The lady then asked if that meant still a little on the long side, but shaggy messy. DH said YES. Then DH claims that DS7 piped up quite loudly "NO, I dont' want it long, I want it Short, like my Dad". I'm not sure who to believe. DS7's hair has always been on the longer side. I think it looks fabulous on him. Currently his hair is now the typical BOYS SHORT cut. WOW, it sure makes his head look bigger, his cheeks look bigger and makes HIM look older than 7!
He likes it, so I'll like it. (and between now and Sept, there won't be anymore haircuts for him :thumbsup2 )

I can't imagine Tim with short hair

Sheri, I'll take a picture of him this evening, and find one of him taken recently but before the haircut, and you tell me if it looks like the same kid! Yesterday they were at a Camp Trillium Monthly Youth Group Gathering at the Super Store, to Bake cakes. Each child got to make and decorate their very own BIG cake and bring it home. Now I have two yummy cakes on my kitchen counter, covered in Chocolate chips and Gummy Bears! Anyway, DH dropped the kids off for the event, and I'm the one who went to fetch them afterwards. It took a a while to spot Tim as for a moment, I had forgotten about the haircut, and I couldn't FIND him! His longer blond hair always stood out. Not so much anymore!:)

I know Judy, it's crazy ain't it??!!??:confused3 This weather warm one day:cool2: and cold the next!!!:scared1: Today I have my long john's on,:scared1: not a sight anyone should see..........and tomorrow....tomorrow I'll have my short pants on!!! (In other words......today I have my jeans on...........tomorrow I''l have shorts on!!!)

I'll be your DS looks good with his hair cut short. Most guys want their hair cut short. They don't want to have to fool with it.....keeping it combed and in place all the time. I like mine short too, but DW doesn't. It's a constant battle all our lives guys!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Happy Hump-Day, fellow Dreamers!
:cool1:

Is anyone else excited to see what DCL's big announcement will be tomorrow??? I was just reading a bunch of speculations...seems some have seen the Magic registered for port arrivals in Grand Cayman in the future...Galveston has been thrown around as a sailing port. Oh how I WISH! That's just over an hour from our house! :woohoo:

Hope everyone's week is going well. I'm especially excited for tomorrow (aside from the big announcement)...we get to go HOME after being away for the last 2 weeks. I get to sleep in my own bed!!!!

...oh wait a minute....that also means I have to clean my own house again....:headache:
