Disney Dream Nursery - is it usually full?

This will be our first cruise on a DCL - this will also be our first time using the nursery. Every where I have read said you can book 75 days in advance. The problem I am finding is - I only want to use the nursery for a few events/shows/etc. I won't know the time or day until we receive our daily navigator on board. Has anyone had trouble finding an open spot in the nursery during these times? Is the nursery usually to capacity and not accepting drop ins?

Thank you.

Following along because I am interested in this as well. My other concern is booking nursery time for my twins 75 days in advance and then not needing the time I have booked. What if they end up having a nap in the cabin and I don't want to wake them to bring them to the nursery? Does DCL have a cancelation policy for nursery time booked?

We were on the Fantasy and had no trouble booking extra time. We usually would ask the night before for the following day. We had DD in the nursery 5/7 nights for dinner, and we just would ask if we wanted to put her in for a few hours during the day, for the spa, adults pool, a mixology class.

Sorry, I don't remember what the cancelation policy.

I agree. And I had 2 that I was booking into the nursery. I ended up using it A LOT!!

I just got off the Wonder....I was pretty stressed out because at my online booking time there seemed to be HARDLY any spots in the nursery. BUT onboard, it was a totally different story. I just stopped into the nursery, and they were SO helpful. I was able to drop my son off any time I wanted without problem. Just a FYI or a tip--bring a small travel pack of wipes and some diapers in a big ziploc bag and label it to leave in the nursery with your child. I was really happy I happened to have a smaller travel pack of wipes with us!

Also, the nursery workers were ALL fantastic. I don't really leave my kids with many people (my parents, one babysitter) and I felt totally and completely comfortable leaving my 18mo son with them!

We booked 10 hours for our DD last year on the Dream (mostly evenings after dinner), but managed to change them and book other hours with no problem. After a few hours on CC we simply called the nursery with the wave phone and booked her in for 30min later! They also didn't charge us if we picked her up early (if we collected her after 2 hours, not the 3 we had planned on). As above, the nursery workers were amazing - some of my favourite CM's on the ship. Plus, Ariel told us the nursery is her favourite place on board so they get some special visitors in there ;)

How did your son do with the separation? We'll be leaving in a couple of weeks, and while I have a fair amount of time booked in the nursery for my 19 mo DS, I am a bit worried about how he is going to settle in. He's the type that will usually cry for a bit after I leave (anywhere) and then adjust and be fine as long as someone is engaging his attention, but I'm wondering how they handle that sort of thing. I'd really like to get a chance for a few adult dinners....

We have sailed 2 times on the dream and going a 3rd in april. We have a 3 yo and have taken him to the nursery a few times and it was nice. We signed up early on the website and it was never full but always had a good amount of children and plenty of people working it.

I don't think there is any penalty for canceling, they just ask that you let them know.

Food question for those of you with older toddlers - did they just feed your kids what the kids club was having for meals? I'm leaving mine for a day while we are in St Petersberg and just wondering if they'll feed her lunch and all or if I have to go bring something for her... shes not a picky eater thankfully!

I would check the website under the nursery area and see how they handle it.
On the dream we had a 2 year old and they feed them lunch and snacks and dinner. We supplied his favorite sipply cup and his blanket and pacifier for nap ......infants you need to bring formula and baby foods. I am not sure on every boat but they were very accommodating and kept him happy. He is 3 and we planned one adult afternoon/ evening for this trip in april and signed up on website activities for the nursery already.

They feed him right off the kids meals as long as they are eating solids....he had nuggets and Mac n cheese fruit....those type of items.

My son did OK...same like you, he cries a bit when I leave, but he latched on to one particular CM and was either sitting in her lap or sleeping in her arms every time we came to get him :) made me feel good because she was so sweet
