My family (wife, 11yr old son, 8 year old daughter) just returned from the Disney Dream. We flew in the night before and stayed at the Hyatt in the Orlando Airport. I highly recommend it as the next morning we checked in with Disney Cruise Line, had breakfast and headed onto a DCL transfer and boarded the Dream. We boarded the boat and the atrium was beautiful. We headed to cabanas for lunch and enjoyed the buffet. Soon we went to our room, 6544 with a verandah. I loved the verandah. It really added to the trip. Nice to get that fresh air. The kids and I really had fun waving goodbye to the Floridians. So the first night dinner was at the Encharted Garden. The boat at this time was out in the Atlantic and man could we feel it. The boat was rocking big time, 39 mph winds. My family all felt lousy and left dinner early. I was ok and went to the Golden Mickey's. Unfortunately many others were having issues and there was a lot of clean ups throughout the ship. It made for easy sleeping.

The next morning we were in Nassau. My wife is pregnant so I had cancelled our Atlantis trip and hung out on the boat. Aqua duck was a lot of fun. That night the wife and I ate at Palo's. Once again dinner was negatively impacted as the boat left port the winds picked up. My poor wife struggled but at least the meal was good. Again the family went to be early and I went to watch the Villans show which was enjoyable. The next day we were going to Castaway Cay. The previous trip couldn't make it there would we get there....

Well the next morning we docked at CC. Paradise for me, I love this island. I got a good location by Pelican point. Now I was debating running in the 5 k. I have reversed my life and lost over 200 lbs in the last year but had not run yet. When I found out about the 5k a month before I started running 5k's on the treadmill. Never did I run one in public. Today was going to be the day. I completed it in 31:25 and I was extremely proud. I then played with the kids in the water before my son and I were going parasailing. First time for both of us. I am 41 and he is 11. What an amazing experience it was for the both of us. I will never forget it. What a thrill. The afternoon was a lot of fun and once again CC rules. That night was Pirate night. I was hoping it would be similar to ones I experienced we're in the past. We went to dinner and our main server was noticeably slow in serving us. We couldn't get his attention. The head server was down right rude. Our assistant server did all she could. By the time we got our meal we had missed some of the pirate show. Needless to say that was annoying. This confirmed that our servers were disappointing. Wait until the last night for more on that. The pirate show was not as enjoyable as it had been back in 2008. This night I submitted a card to book a future cruise.

The next day we were at sea and hit aqua duck frequently. Lots of fun and a great ride. Well my daughter got her princess autographs and both my children loved the detective games. That was a home run by Disney designing that game. My wife and I went to book a future boat but was told the system was down but they would book our trip for us. That evening I got a letter saying they would call us to book the trip within two weeks of returning home. I still haven't heard from them today. Anyway, animators palate was our last meal, great nemo interaction. The food was so so. I felt the Magic had better food in 2008 than the Dream had in 2011. Well the service was even worse tonight. The assistant server told us she was embarrassed by the team. Horrific service slow and non responsive. Disney should be embarrassed by the poor service. at least our housekeeping server was phenomenal.

The next morning we were off the boat and headed for a few days at WDW. That part of the trip was way better.

The bottom line is the trip was disappointing from a service perspective (dining and future cruises). For the high cost of the Disney cruise I expected more. Too bad.
