Disney Dream - Nov 3, 2011

It was sad but better safe than sorry. I was up on deck and they really tried to get in there. I thought they were pretty amazing in how they were able to completely change gears and offer an awful lot of stuff to do onboard and reprint the navigator so quickly. I'm sure they lost money by having to cancel all the paid activities on the island. People also drink a whole lot more expensive fruity drinks while on the island. They also eat like crazy. The buffet was open long hours and so busy. Ports of call are not guaranteed. I feel sorry for you since it was your first cruise. The island is amazing. I hope you get there next time. I give them kudos for trying so hard and making it a lovely day. They were able to hide us from the weather until after dinner. That rock and roll party all night long was intense though. Worse seas I've ever been through. I was so glad when we docked. The seas have been battering our beaches here in FL for a few days. Very bad. I hope you have better luck next time.

Yah, I'd rather be safe than sorry as well. I stumbled upon a closed forum thread about this hot topic and it seems like there are other people who are frustrated and some who don't mind going with the flow. The problem is, I expected a bit more than just towel folding and a newly reprinted navigator. When I went to book my future cruise (yay! new york to new england, aug 2012), I asked if they were willing to give a steeper discount or additional onboard credit because of the experience on the Dream - they flat out said no. My experience was very mixed. Aside from missing Castaway Cay, they messed up a birthday present that my parents pre-purchased to be put into my room - it was a graduation themed photo gift set, instead of a birthday one. They also forgot to deliver the surprise birthday cake that my BFF pre-purchased for me to be sent up while dining at Remy. I love Disney and have still have faith, otherwise I wouldn't have booked the future cruise, but I'm just disappointed. I've sent emails and feedback to several folks, so hopefully someone will get back to me from DCL.

Welcome back fellow cruisers!!

Thank you for the wonderful FE gifts!! This was the first time participating. I rec'd 7 gifts!! My ds loved going around to find all the different FE's and he took pics of all of them.

I was really upset about Castway Cay also. That is the best part of the trip, with pirate night the next best. I'm sure the couple getting married on the island were a bit more upset tho. I hope Disney took care of them on the ship. I thought there would be comp drinks by the pool. We had that with another cruise line when they couldn't dock. DS did the midship dectective, which was fun and he went to the pool.

Next time we will plan a 4night instead of the 3night. So much to do with little time.

All in all, it was great trip!! The parks weren't that crowded either! And I finally stopped swaying.

I got my land legs back today!!!!
My head has been swaying all week. What a ride it was. I asked the boss about rebooking onboard and she said "No, that's alright."
I'll ask her again after the holidays, maybe she will have her land legs back by then.

Hope everyone had a nice time on the cruise!

I have a question, since this was my first Disney cruise. Was I the only one that was upset about not making it to Castaway Cay? I understand that Disney cannot control the tide issues that were occurring, but for the amount of money spent for the trip I thought the issue was handled poorly. No onboard credit offered, no additional discount for re-booking... NOTHING.

Very sad.

I couldn't agree with you more! I had a very disappointed and upset 5 year old on Saturday morning :( Honestly, I did not enjoy the cruise as much as I hoped I would of. We had our fish extender stolen on Saturday morning and the rocking/swaying was rough. On Sunday afternoon in DTD, my equillibrium was still off. I felt like the ground was moving as I was shopping HAHA :rotfl:

THANKS everyone for the fun FE gifts, the girls loved coming back to find their surprises.

We were disappointed, but I've been on a few other cruises where we've missed ports before. We've never received anything before from Disney or Princess so I wasn't expecting anything.

Sorry to hear about your FE being stolen and I hope you get your land legs back soon. The seas were about the roughest we've experienced and if I remember right you were near the front which probably felt it the most.

We had our Castaway Cay bag stolen at Atlantis Paradise Island on our 11/7 Nassau stop. I'm betting the person that stole it was disappointed as it only had sunglass, reading glasses, my watch and kids clothes, we keep camera and cash/credit cards with us at all times. The taxi operator drove us back to the ship in a limo once he heard what happened so the girls were way happy.

We received six fe gifts... Very exciting, we are still eating some of the goodies!

Loved all the magnets and gifts. Thanks again.
