Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Gooood evening Fellow Cruisers!!

Run run, rush rush!! The finish line is quickly approaching and I better hurry up or I'll miss it! LOL I am the worlds biggest and worst procrastinator! I have my list on the counter of what needs done this week...a few phone calls, Connor needs a physical for football etc. Some how, some way, I always get it done!!

Thanks for the heads up on purchasing booze on board. I'll call her and tell her to BYOB.

Not sure what we are going to do about rebooking? On one hand, I can't imagine taking a cruise and NOT rebooking, but I have also priced out some future dates and just about had heart failure!! They have really gone crazy with pricing!! Maybe it's time to look at Carnival more closely.

You know, a bunch of us Dis'ers that have sailed together and we've remained good friends, we've all talked about how much we'd love to sail together again but the price can be so much that we've talked about taking a trip together on another line.

As for shorts...I dunno...we have worn shorts before as well. I think, as long as they are nice, resort, golf type, why not? a few pair I bought this week are longer, Bermuda shorts...they come to my knee, I also have a couple pair of capris that come below...I'm going with those. I think as long as it's dressed up, you're fine.

Yes, I think that I'm having the boys bring a few pairs of pants that they can rotate around for dinner if needed, but we'll see the atmosphere, if there are others wearing decent shorts (like my boys have) then why not.
Same with me, I'd planned a skirt or dress most every night anyway but one night I had some nice dress shorts I wanted to wear, I'll see how it goes.

I feel like I have hit a brick wall tonight...don't know why...really didn't do a lot today....I guess I better get a good night's sleep so I can accomplish more tomorrow!

Double Dippin' Memorial Day Thankful Dreamer....
Michele :cloud9:

I know what you mean about not getting a lot done Michele, I always have huge lists but my focusing problem keeps me from getting stuff done without wandering around aimlessly alot:upsidedow
Panic mode will work last minute for everything:rolleyes1

Hey nice new tag again today, but now that's it's after Memorial Day you need a new one, and I am always anxiously awaiting your new creations!popcorn::

Today wasn't as productive as I had hoped. I only got the cruise shirts done. None of our shirts for the parks. We had to run out to do more last minute shopping. At least I got some laundry done. Plus, I downloaded the Verizon Disney Mobile App. I tried to download the blackberry undercover tourist app, but its not working.
I'm getting nervous. So much to do, so little time. Work keeps getting in the way. Time to do a little research. I don't remember the rules for rebooking on line. Don't you get some type of discount? Does that discount apply if you need to change the date?

I believe you get some kind of onboard credit, but the vacation price is better than you can ever do after the fact. And I do believe the discount carries to a new date too:goodvibes

Just home from the lake for Memorial Day Weekend. I would have rather not gone since I have SO MUCH to do before we leave for our cruise, but that is just not the way it works in my husband's family haha.

I spent Sat and Sun in some absolutely wonderful weather NOT!!! Rain, storms, tornados etc. I could have gotten so much more done at my house than there but i did make some serious progress on our FE gifts. Still need to, finish them this week and makes the actual FE but I refuse to panic until next weekend. We did have nice weather today and both girls and my husband got quite a bit of sun. My idea of relaxing was chilling in my chair in the shade and breeze and enjoying my book so for once I am not sporting that fun pink color.....

That's me too Patti:headache:

Michelle, I feel your Droid pain. I am on my second on and the only reason it isn't at least the 3rd is because my husband took it over to the store the couple times we have tried to dump this one and they convinced him it was me not them. Gee force closing all the time, I have to turn it on and off at least one if not more per day, text messages lock up all the time, phone sending random old texts again, never holds my stored speed dials, looses my calendar details. Yeah sounds like it isn't the phone problem. The Verizon store is definitely on my list of to-do's this week.

I am 98% done with our shopping. A few minor things to gather and then the actual packing can begin next week. I have already told the girls that all cruise clothes are off limits after next weekend. One daughter has to wear uniforms to school so she is no problem and the other can gladly live in sweats and tees for school for 5 days.

Our school system actually is in session the Monday of our cruise after having 7 make up days for snow this winter. The high school has not been real cooperative but I think we are set with all her teachers and finals. Middle school is no big deal that is a play day anyway, she will just miss the end of the year carnival. Lets see bouncy Titantic slide or Aqua Duck - yeah hard choice.

We will be leaving to drive to Indy on the 10th and then flying out on Sat am spending the night before and after at Saratoga. My parents (Grandpawelch8) are DVC members and got us rooms on their points. This is a resort I have never stayed at so this is very exciting.

It is hard to believe that we only have to wake up 11 more times before we start this vacation that was booked in Nov 2009.

:cool2:

Hi everyone!!

Happy Memorial Day!!

Me and Bob have spent the whole weekend trying to finalize wedding plans and honeymoon plans. I think we are 90% done.

It crazy how much time things take up - being this is also our first cruise - we didn't know what stuff to take - I think we got that done.

Trying not to stress over everything - lol

We got the FE gifts done - just waiting for the FE to be delivered :)

Can't wait for everything to come together - we have been planning this for a very long time!!

Its good to know so many GREAT people willm be on this cruise!!

:bride::yay::love::lovestruc:banana::cheer2::grouphug::flower3::dance3:

:goodvibes
I forgot your wedding details. Are you getting married onboard or somewhere else and just honeymooning on the Dream?

I hope to rebook on board, but will move it to 2013 or beyond; according to when we have another child. I agree about the pricing...nuts! But, we went on two Carnival cruises at one time: our first one and our last one :). I don't think we'll do them again...we may try Royal Caribbean. So far we plan to do WDW in 2012, if not Thanksgiving 2011.

Steven

I'd agree with you there, I've heard that Carnival isn't always the best even though it's much cheaper.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! And a big thank you to all the veterans!!

I can't believe it is getting so close! I agree with others who have posted it seems so unreal since we booked this in 2009!

I think the busy schedule with school's end has caused it to go faster at least for us. Nathan's graduation is this coming Thursday, then we just have one week until we fly out for Florida!

We can't wait to meet everyone on deck 13:dance3:

Less than 2 weeks away! can't believe it:)

Hi Nancy:wave:
Glad to see you're still around.:goodvibes

Wow, lots of graduations coming up this weekend!

Morning everyone!

Busy weekend for us. Think all our shopping is finally done. I finished up the FE gifts. And we picked up my daughter's new to her car. We're not letting her drive it until we get some new tires on it but she's still pretty excited. I'm excited not to have to be without a car when she has plans. (I don't like my husbands car :P)

Rose - I'm bringing a pair of nicer capris for dinner. If that's not good enough too bad. Personally, I don't care what anyone wears to dinner. As long as nothing's showing that shouldn't be showing ;) It's vacation. Relax and enjoy.

Not sure if we'll book a dummy date on board or not. Thinking we won't. Unless my husband really loves cruising.
I'm sure there's more I was going to comment on but haven't had caffeine yet.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Cool! Rowan's first car!:goodvibes

My son's car is his computer(s), he's spent more money on all of them to buy a pretty nice new car:rotfl:
He obviously has different priorities;)

Thanks for your input too about the dress code. We'll pack a bit of both and see how it goes.

Boy speaking of how people dress. I have been shocked on Pirate night on 2 different cruises how a few women wore very short and suggestive pirate outfits:eek:
I mean they were very nice but I think those are made for adult parties and not quite acceptable to wear around little kids and at family parties:rolleyes:

Hi everyone. Well, I am sitting in my living room as packers are packing up my house. My DH, Rob, is down in Valrico, FL, closing on our house. We will move in there right after the cruise. The movers will be here tomorrow to take everything away--yeehaa!

Graduation is Friday and until then---chaos! :rotfl:

Can someone please post again where and when all the dis meets are happening? On Saturday night, we are staying a CI&S, so if there is a meet there, we may make it. Not sure though, as it will be our last night at WDW, so the kids may choose to stay late...

My DD18, Emily, is finishing up the FE gifts today. I have had nothing to do with them, so please be forgiving, as it is her first time. She is just putting together a little taste of Louisiana for y'all. Nothing extravagant, but a little fun, nonetheless.

We are so proud of her, as we found out this week that she is the Salutatorian of her class, and will get to meet Mrs. Obama, the guest speaker for graduation (sorry if I am repeating myself). Apparently, she is a big supporter of military families, so she contacted our school (Quantico High School, Quantico Marine Corps Base, VA) to come and speak at graduation. We are thrilled for Emily because she has worked so hard these 4 years. In the Fall, she will attend LSU, majoring either in speech pathology or special education. She is not sure yet, but she knows she wants to work with special needs children.

Ok, sorry to go on and on, but honestly, I am always a little unnerved when we move.....so I am using the DIS as a DIStraction..:goodvibes

OMG! That is awesome Paige! Congratulations to Emily!:cool1::thumbsup2

Sorry about all your stress and chaos, I'm sure it's no fun at all:headache::hug:

I know what you need to combat all of this!
A Disney vacation! How about that? A cruise on the Dream:yay::woohoo:

Hi everyone

I have been lurking some but not posting :guilty: Congrats to all the graduates and their wonderful accomplishments! I started quoting all these and it just got silly so congratulations to everyone. :thumbsup2:rotfl:

We are getting so close!! :woohoo: I'm looking at the tickers on your posts and getting all butterfly-ish

I will admit I haven't 'technically' packed anything. We have an over-the-door shoe organizer from last cruise that needs to be "replenished" and I have thrown some things into my suitcase that already had some stuff from my FL trip earlier this month..& that's it. Oh and I bought some sunblock, and gathered the FE items. :rolleyes1

The goal will be to have everyone packed and ready to go by Sunday evening, because who knows what the week will bring at work last minute :headache: What's nice is our flight leaves Friday around 5:30pm, so that gives us most of that day to grab last minute stuff. :thumbsup2 That will be SOO much better than stumbling out the door to go to the airport at (the typical) 5:00 AM :scared::upsidedow
:banana::banana: Getting excited!! 12 days!! :banana::banana:

You know Angela, I have bought a shoe holder/organizer for every cruise and I guess everytime I must throw it out when I'm done to save space in my suitcase. Because once again, I checked my home and I don't have one:headache:
So I have to go buy yet another one:rotfl:

Well, it looks as if I'm the only one on here.
I'm stalling between coming home from work and going off to make dinner and do chores the rest of the night.
But :sad1:WHHAAAAA, I don't want to:rolleyes1
Don't I deserve to come home from work and relax the rest of the night?
Everynight?;):rotfl::thumbsup2

Ok so I'm stalling again........:surfweb:
