Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Kimberly,,,,,,WOOHOO!!!!!! Well, since you asked,,,, no,,, I didn't get to meet anyone on the cruise. It seems that all I would do is think about all of the trouble back at the office. It was a lot. I thought we might have to get new employees. It was bad. I don't really remember much about it now, but it was always a rush to be one place or another. And then we were always worried about Kathleen and whether or not Billy was actually showing her the things you need to see on your first cruise. We can't rely on Billy to do that, you know. I would really like to meet you this time. Oh, Prior to boarding , Billy lost our camera in the Target in Merrit Island, we think. Wonderful???
I think we were so preoccupied that we didn't even think about the boards. Will you ever forgive me? Hey,,, assuming that something similar occurs with each cruise, come up to the room and say ,,,"What are you doing and come and meet us!!!" I think we are in 12022 for this cruise. Kristen wanted to have concierge and we broke down and used a lot of points. WAH!!! I am at the office right now and seem to always be here. Usually up to midnight or 1 or 2 AM. This stuff is getting old(not the cruise). We never have any time for fun anymore.

Just wondering if anyone has been to the American Girl store in Atlanta? Kimberly

We took my DD8 to the American Girl store in Atlanta last summer. She loved it! It was a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be. I have never been to any of the other AG stores, so I am not sure if it is about the same size or not. We didn't participate in any extra activities like the cafe' or the salon, as we were on our way to a Braves game and didn't have much time. There were lots of little girls having their doll's hair done. It looked like fun! If we go back, we would like to stay at the Marriott or Residence Inn in Alpharetta. They have AG packages where you get a free bed for your doll and cookies and milk. How fun!

Hello everyone. I'm still around, just been nuts around here. I switched jobs at work and was doing 2 jobs trying to wrap up my old duties and start my new ones. At least things are starting to settle down.

I can feel for everyone with snow. It is snowing again...
The cruise can't get here soon enough for me. still one more winter to go.

I'm excited about all of the girls on the cruise. Sydney will be 10, but she gets along with everyone. Maybe we can set up a way for the girls to email before the cruise to get to know each other.
Hope we get just as many boys or Ethan will be following all of the girls around and teasing his sister.

Here is a very rough idea for a cruise logo, but I wanted to get feedback. I did this in just a couple minutes using Paint, but it would make it much better if people like it. Saw several other really cute ideas of other double dip logos, so I will try to make a couple other later.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I had two new ideas about possible names for our group. I love the Double Dip idea and DMMom's graphic, but I was thinking about the fact that 2/3 of the cruises that summer will be double dips. Is there something that makes our group a little more unique?

I thought of two possible themes -- so I thought I would throw them out here and see what people think. Or maybe these ideas can trigger an even better one from someone else.

Idea #1
We have a lot of teachers and (with all the kids) a lot of students in our group. What about something like "The CLASSless Cruisers -- School's Out for Summer!" I am not particularly gifted with graphics, but maybe one of you with more talent in that area (like DMMom) could do something like Mickey, Minnie, et al running out of a school house and towards the ship.

Idea #2
We also seem to have a lot of birthdays and anniversaries that will be celebrated while on board. (Or those celebrating the end of the school year - as mentioned above.) What if we did kind of a take off on the current park promotion "What will you celebrate?" and instead did "What will you SAILebrate?" For a graphic here I am thinking we could tie in to the park image that goes with the "What will you celebrate?" Instead of the castle in the clouds with the Mickey-head balloons, we could have the ship with the Mickey-head balloons.

Just some thoughts. I encourage any feedback -- pros or cons.

Hey everybody,,, I don't know if you are interested, but you can go online and get pirate names. Mine is Mad William Cash. Angela is Cap'n Beatrice Skullcrack. Billy is Pirate Tobias the cash strapped, and Kristen is Voodoo Rose. I forget the web site, but I think I remember that if you google for pirate names, it is a name generator. What do you think?

Great ideas! I like them both and DMMom's too DH is a graphic designer so he said he'd work something up graphically. Maybe everyone could come up with ideas for themes and/or logos and we set a date to take a vote? Just a thought...

I love this idea too!

I haven't been on in a while, trying to suffer through this awful winter. We ended up with 4 inches of snow last weekend and my sister that lives in Myrtle Beach got almost 6! Her boyfriend took some beautiful pictures at Atalaya. I'll get them posted.

Since there are so many of us getting into the FE's, does anybody have any objections to spliting up the group into 2? I will still get it organized for everybody, but thought it might be an easier task to split the groups. I don't want to spend my whole vaca delivering gifts, but really do enjoy the experience.

These pictures were taken by my sister's boyfriend at Atalaya at Hunnington Beach State Park - Enoy!

Hi everyone. Hope your Februarys are going well. June 2011 still seems so far away. Can't wait to hit that less than a year mark. One month til spring thankfully. So hopefully warmer weather and no more snow will make June '11 seem closer.

As for the name/logo, I like the original or your 2nd idea better. Our family is traveling with 4 other families that have no teachers and no school agers. So don't want to make those groups not feel like part of the group. The good news is we have plenty of time to think about it and decide. :)

Just booked.:thumbsup2

Been holding off for awhile to see if I could afford it and if the boyfriend and son would give me a hard time about it.
But it's a go!

This will be my 5th Disney cruise:cool1:
My son's 3rd.
And my boyfriend's 2nd.

We just did the B.O.B.(Bash on the Boat) cruise last in October 2009 with friends from our KK (Konked Kruisers) cruise in October of 2007.
And so far there are 3 other families besides our that are traveling again with us from the last cruise.

I see they haven't been on here yet.
I'll get them over here soon:goodvibes

So I'm Rose, 45 from NY.
Boyfriend is Bob 43
Son is Sean now 19 but will be 20 cruise time..... sadly just short of the drinking age by 2 months! Not that it should be so important.

Sean and Bob are not related.
We're a mixed bag:upsidedow

Anywoo! Yipee:yay:

Hey, we need a name for our group!

Sorry, still have to read back through all your pages, maybe you've already named it?

I like the second variation:
Something like Sailebrators?

I've just been reading about FE's. We didn't hear about this on our other 3 cruises. Please add us to the list. If there are a lot doing it, 2 groups seems like a good idea. Thanks to all those who are being creative and coming up for group name ideas! After the snow storm last weekend, we are now in the mid 60's which seems so warm and has us "Dreamin' "

Holly, I like your second idea too. Even though my family doesn't have any milestones to celebrate on this trip, we are *certainly* going to be celebrating being on the Dream and not at work/school. :woohoo:

Welcome to the party! I'll get you added to the first page. LOL about your DS - I recall those last couple months before the BIG 21 being rough - I can't imagine being on a cruise and not being able to partake in the spirits. :rolleyes1

Hey, we need a name for our group!

Sorry, still have to read back through all your pages, maybe you've already named it?

Welcome to our group! I love to see more veterans join our group. This is our sixth Disney cruise.

We definitely want to do this as well. We just got our FE on our last cruise, as we had never been on one that wanted to do it. It is lots of fun, and for those not sure about buying FE's, you can also hang a bag on the fish if you don't want to go go the expense to get one. Just didn't want anyone to be excluded for that reason.

As for the title, we aren't really celebrating anything or teachers, but I'm game for whatever title you guys come up with. I'd probably lean towards the original suggestion (or maybe since double dip has been used so much, Castay Cay Squared... though that might be too weird) or the Sailabration.

They are predicting more snow here. Considering our last snow lasted in places a week, another unheard of here in the DFW area, this is shaping up to be a crazy February. Since we really don't get it that often it wouldn't be that big of a problem for us, but DS14 was picked as the only rep from his 7th grade basketball game to play in the district All-Star game and it's tomorrow night... after the snow we are supposed to get tomorrow. Thankfully, until last night we had gotten pretty warm again so maybe the roads won't be a problem.

Have a good day my fellow cruiser! :)

Hi everyone! We are one of those three families Rose mentioned. I'm Paige (just turned 42), and I am travelling with my DH, Rob (40), and my children, DD16 (18 at cruise time), DS14 (15 at cruise time), DS10 (11 at cruise time), and a guest of my DD (haven't decided who it will be yet) because we will be celebrating her graduation and my husband's retirement from the Marine Corps.

We are cajuns from Louisiana, but we currently live just south of DC. This is my DH's and my 4th DCL cruise and my kids' 3rd. We were with Rose and the Konked Kruisers of '07 and the BoBers of '09. What a great time we had! And we are looking forward to more fun with y'all.:yay:

Since the school's out and sailebration ideas might not apply to everyone in our group, I came up with a few more possibilities. (I figure we still have over a year to brainstorm and decide, so I am happy to continue throwing out suggestions.)

Idea #3
Something very simple like the C2D2 Cruise (Castaway Cay Double Dip). This could go with the graphic DMMom worked up earlier -- it just gives us a slightly different name from any other cruise meet groups that might use the double dip idea.

Idea #4
I always thught these cars were a little odd looking (no offense if any of you own one) but how about the PT Cruisers - Paradise Twice. Maybe with a picture of Mickey and the gang hanging out the windows of a PT Cruiser.

Idea #5
The Mighty DUCCKs - Doubling Up on Castaway Cay Kruisers. (Maybe someone has a better idea for the K). I was thinking we could just use the logo from the Mighty Ducks movies.

Keep the comments coming. I think it will be fun when we can put a name to our group.

Holly

The math teacher in me loves the squared concept, but your idea also triggered another thought ... we could go 3-D (Dream Double Dip). :3dglasses Maybe a graphic with Mickey and the gang in 3-D glasses. Something like "This Cruise Brought to You in 3-D."
