Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Hi everybody, Just checking in . Well, I have news. I have been trying to get Billy and Kathleen added to the reservation for many weeks now. I should have done it a long time ago, but , money was tight and there was some hesitation on Billy's part and also funding questions. Anyway, I have religiously been trying to add the kids with internet checks , calls to DVC, and calls to DCL to make sure that I wasn't missing some opportunity to add them. The ship has been at capacity for some time now and I have been kind of down because of it. I was beginning to think that I wouldn't be able to add them. UNTIL TODAY!!!! I had checked the web site all day with no availability for any rooms for a party of any size. ( I figured that if someone cancelled, it would show up on the list of rooms and I would have to sprint to add). OKAY, so just for kicks, I decided to call DVC and have them call DCL, as usual, and see if there was availability.
TA DA!!!!! Availability!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay to add two adults to the cruise!!!!!!!!!! HOOOOOOOOOORaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are in!!!!!!!! :banana::banana::banana::banana:
Crystal,,, take the "maybe" off of the first post. Billy and Kathleen WILL be there.
Oh,,,, A smidge of bragging for me. Kristen, dd15, participated in a contest with NASA where she did a presentation with another girl from our school with science subject. (the physics teach is affiliated with NASA and Texas instruments) It was an online presentation. They WON! She is now being flown all expenses paid to Cape Canaveral to give her presentation live at Nasa. She will be there for four days. :yay::yay::yay::yay::teacher:

Hello to all my Fellow Cruisers! It's Hump Day!:yay:
Congrats 3DAN on being able to add your family to the cruise. I wish I had some family members that were able to join us, but it will be just my daughter and myself (and all of my newfound DISfriends!). Also congratulations to your DD15 and her schoolmate on winning the NASA contest. She must be very excited!

Wow! Double great news!:woohoo:
Much congrats to your daughter!:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone,

Well we are getting closer now! I think April 5th is a good cut off date for the FE. I would encourage anyone who is hesitating to join us. It's fun!

So the 90 day mark has come and gone.... we are paid, checked in and spa visits reserved. I'm doing the hot stone massage, which I discovered on the Magic. Can't wait. Manicure, pedicure and facial...not on all the same days! I never do spa stuff in my regular life so this will make it a real treat for me. I booked DH and DS 15 for two activities at CC: Wave runner on stop 1 and parasailing on day 2. Normally I am adventurous, but I have decided I want to RELAX on this cruise, so my only CC activity will be bending my elbow with a fruity drink.

Did not even ask DS if he wants to do the Wild side teen thing. I imagine if he meets people and wants to add it we will be able to ...do you think the teen CC group gets filled or limited?

Congrats 3DAN on your daughter's contest win and accomplishment. And so happy you can add your family members to the cruise!

On his last cruise, my son did not sign up for the Wild Side. But onboard he started hanging around a few kids who were going to do it. So he asked if he could join them. I had no problem getting him signed up and it was even the day before!

3DAN - Congrats on being able to add family to the cruise and to your daughter. You must be so proud!:goodvibes

Principessa - Where did you find the hot stone massage??? I've been looking for it. Do you remember the name of the treatment? My first massage ever was a hot stone/facial combo I did on the Wonder last year. I loved the massage and have been wanting to book one for this cruise.

After reading that people were able to book the waverunners on CC I took a look yesterday and book all 3 of us for the 1st CC day  My DD17 & I are a double and my DH is a single. This is the one excursion that looked like fun to all 3 of us.

Is it June yet??

Hi Everyone!
I'm new to the boards, so I'm late in joining this thread...but wanted to introduce myself.

We will be joining you all on this cruise with our best friends and their DD(9). We are all so excited and can't wait for June to get here.

We live in the Tampa area, and like many of you, are complete Disney freaks. We average one weekend a month at WDW and one cruise a year. Last year, we tried Carnival instead...basically because my parents begged us to join them. It was ok, but I missed Disney and will not be trying any other cruise lines in the near future. To make up for missing DCL last year, we're doing 2 this year...in addition to this June one, we're doing a Thanksgiving one for the first time.

Don't want to make this too long...just wanted to say hi and join in on all your excitement!

Welcom TinkBell10! :cheer2: My dad lives in the Tampa area and my DD17 will be spending a week there after the cruise :)

Okay I just have to say I LOVE Southwest Airlines. Finally decided that airfare was about a good as we were going to get and still be able to get flights that would work. Booked the 3 of us on a one-way from Dallas to Orlando. Over the weekend we talked to my dad about when my daughter would visit this year and we decided that he'd meet us at the airport in Orlando, visit with us for a bit then my daughter would go spend a week with him in Tampa. So I booked DH & I on a one-way from Orlando to Dallas. Get the confirmation for the first flight - everything looks great. Get the confirmation for the 2nd flight and realized I forgot to put in my middle name. It's on both my driver's license and my passport. I about had a heart attack. I clearly read that the info has to match. Even called DH to confirm what his license had for his middle name. Called Southwest. Used their call back feature since is was a 20-30 minute wait. They called back right at 20 minutes. Fixed it no problem. Yay!!:cheer2: That was the most stressful 20 minutes I've had in a long time. Visions of $$ down the drain filled my head.

I am definately ready for a drink of the day on Serenity Beach:goodvibes

Well would the same thing hold true if you book the atlantis waterpark excursion through DCL???? If the weather's bad and they still transport you to atlantis and back does DCL refund your money?? We booked a room at the atlantis becuse they allow 5 in a room with one being 4 and under. So for us 1 room at atlantis was cheaper than the DCL excursion and 2 rooms at comfort inn.

I would imagine Disney would have to refund your money. Booking thru the Atlantis seems like a good deal to me. You may want to check with them about their cancellation policy. Chances are the weather would not be that bad that they would have to close the park. I just wanted to let you know of our very bad experience with Comfort Suites. :)

We're doing the bottom fishing at CC. The last time I did that I caught a 6' shark. Hopefully I get another one.
Now I'm tring to get my parents a room. The Grandparents decided to go if they can get a stateroom.

Good luck getting your parents a room. By the way, I see your location listed as Elwood, IL. Is that the Elwood as in small town south of Joliet. If it is, I grew up there. Small world!

Hi there! We are moving to theTampa area this summer when my DH retires from the Marine Corps. We have been looking at the Lithia/Valrico areas. My boys will be in middle and high school, and I hear that Randall Middle and Newsome High are good schools....

Congrats to your daughter. That is so great!! And congrats on getting 2 more added.

That sounds wonderful!! I may have to look into that.

We are so excited too. This was the only excursion DH wants to do. He wanted to do it on our last cruise, but it got cancelled due to bad weather.

Sounds fun. I will have to see if DH wants to do this. He has always wanted to go fishing in the ocean. I grew up in CA and went deep sea salmon fishing every year. Do they catch and release (or what do they do with the fish?)

Hey Bigben,,,, I am getting to know the system pretty well at this point. The paid in full day is March 29. If you are going to get another room, you had better be watching pretty darn close throughout these next fourteen days. A cancellation can occur at any time. It was suggested to me that cancellations may go to bed control at this point so that they can adjust the guarantee rooms appropriately. They would then be released and who knows when that can occur. Changes occur after midnight. I think I also know of another way that might just get you a room. I will PM you this information. I would have tried this if I didn't already have a room that will sleep five. Right before March 29, you better be checking repeatedly and particularly on that day.

Hi Paige. Wishing you good luck in your search for a home in Tampa. My dream is to move to Florida some day, hopefully the Orlando area, or somewhere near there, so I can be closer to the Mouse!! Well, maybe some day I'll win the Lottery!

I'm Rose from NY traveling with my BF Bob and college age son Sean.

I don't think I'd ever try Carnival.
Disney is the best because it's Disney but also because of these boards!:goodvibes
There aren't the same kind of boards (with this much response anyway)
as we have for Disney for other ships.

Lucky you living by Disney:goodvibes

Are you buying a home already? Or renting until you can see the area and look at the homes?
What's Rob going to do next?
