Disney Dream Deck 5 - can aft stairs get to kid's club?

We were on the Dream several years ago but I just can't seem remember this.

Are you able to walk the full length of the ship on deck 5? I actually want to know if you can take the aft stairs up/down to deck 5 and get to the kids clubs.

I can't tell from the deck plans. The deck plans actually make it look like you can't take the aft stairs to the kids club. It looks like the hallway ends at cabin 5150.

I'm trying to figure out a cabin aft deck 6 and would love for the kids to go down the stairs to the club. But I'm wondering if they need to walk forward to the mid-ship stairs and then back to the club.

Any insight would be great! Thank you!

We were on the dream about a month ago in room 5190 (aft facing cabin) and regularly walked past the kids clubs.

OP, I totally agree with you about the deck plans! I was very unsure before our trip this past Aug., but don't worry, you can definitely get to the Oceaneers Club and Lab from the aft stairs/elevators. We were in 5152 and 5154 - had LOTS of kids/parents running outside our rooms going to and from those areas. Not a problem!

Thank you both for your reply! I'm so glad you can use the aft stairs. That will make things easier for us!

THanks so much!

Slightly off topic, but probably something people familiar with that part of the ship might know: I have long been curious as to what the "mystery area" directly forward of Room 5650 is (it probably also has a twin directly forward of Room 5150 on the other side)? Looking from above, there was an odd-shaped balcony just forward of the (very large) 5650 balcony. Is that part of the Oceaneer Lab, or maybe quarters for an officer? I never saw anybody on that balcony. Thanks. Just something I've been curious about.

Yes. It's a turn or two, but very easy to get from the clubs to the aft stairs.

It could be storage or a "void" for ventilation ducts or pipes to run vertically... It's not staff quarters.

But what about the balcony? I don't think that's used for storage.

The lifeboats are right outside the windows across from the kids clubs. The balcony could be a work platform used when launching the lifeboats or it could be just an extended balcony for that first room off the club hall. Look at the attached picture of the Fantasy, the ships are virtual clones of each other structurally. There are no windows to indicate a room in that location.

It's definitely not a stateroom. We stayed in 5150 and there is some sort of machinery over near that empty boomy. We heard it running all the time when we were out on the balcony. It's pretty loud, actually.

Thanks. Good thing I avoided the room directly above it. We really need a list of noisy rooms on the Dream and Fantasy that people should avoid! That might explain why 5150 and 5650 have the double sized balcony (to compensate for the noise), but 6146 and 6646 just have regular sized balconies.

You can absolutely use those stairs. Just pick the correct side to walk down for the club/lab. There are signs that will tell you what side the kid stuff is on.

We just stayed in stateroom 6666 and apart from saying it and the looks we got when we said it, we LOVED that room and that location. SO EASY to get to the Lab. So easy to get to the adult venues. So easy to go on up to Cabanas! Easy easy easy.

We've actually picked out a different room to try that's right nearby (seriously, try saying 6666 repeatedly, it's annoying) but that location was fabulous for us.

Disney ships have fewer "you can't get there from here" situations than other cruise lines. I believe that on the Dream and Fantasy, the only "you can't get there from here" situations are:

Deck 1: You must use the appropriate elevator / stairway to get to the announced gangway. You can't walk between forward, midship, and aft on this deck.

Deck 2: You must use the forward or midship elevators / stairs to get to Enchanted Garden and the staterooms on this deck. You can't use the aft elevators / stairs to get to any passenger areas. I don't even think the aft elevator even has a 2 button.

Deck 12: You must use the aft elevator / stairs to get to Palo, Remy, and Meridian, and the forward or midship elevators / stairs to get to anywhere else on this deck.

Deck 13: You must use the forward elevators / stairs to get to the adult deck; the midship elevators / stairs to get to the teen club; the aft elevators / stairs to get to the sports deck.

Deck 14: You must use the midship elevators / stairs to get to Outlook.

This is just talking about physically being able to get to different areas. I'm not taking into account rules that may or may not be enforced, such as wet swimsuits probably not being allowed in the buffet, children probably no being allowed on Deck 11 or 13 forward, and children probably not being allowed on Deck 4 aft at night.
