Disney Dream come True 8/28/2011

Hi Guys ,
I have a tiny problem that started in my brain this morning it has to do with

To be honest I'm too much of a control freak to leave my transportation to anyone else!

So my preference would be for a rental car as it gives you much more flexability and control of arrival time etc and is probably cheaper for a family of four.

bumping up!! sorry i haven't been keeping up with this thread. life has been busy!! hope everyone is doing well! we are counting down til the cruise now, but i hate to see summer go by too quickly. my little guy's bday is in july, and i'm trying to get ahead in planning for that, so i can concentrate on the dream cruise. we are also taking a week long trip to texas in july. i need a few more weeks added to the summer i think!!
i hope to start posting more and getting to know everyone!! have a great nite!!

I have a similar dilemma. We are arriving at WDW August 23rd and leaving the morning of the cruise on August 28th. We will also be doing a post cruise stay at Universal Orlando.

I am debating between two options -

1. August 23rd - 28th - Magical Express - Airport to Pop to Airport
August 28th - One way car rental - Airport to Port
September 1st - 4th - Car rental - Port to UO to Airport

2. August 23rd - 28th - Magical Express - Airport to Pop
August 28th - Private Car Service - Pop to Port
September 1st - 4th - Private Car Service - Port to UO to Airport

I would much rather have someone else do the driving so for me, it will come down to cost.

Right now both options cost about the same. I am waiting to see if I can get a better deal with the rental car. If so, that's the option I will go with.

our last vacation we were driving...driving from coast to coast in Florida and sometimes going to the west coast twice...I got so sick of being in the car t hat I told my husband from now on, we are relying on others to take us where we are going, so we are doing either a cruise or a wdw vacation from now on..he agreed...however...
When we get off the ship, we are renting a car because our flight does not leave until 6:40 that night...so we will need something to do that day. I don't want to spend a lot of time at the airport...

So we are taking me to ASmo, then taking DCL transportation to the port. The last time I did a cruise, we drove down from NH (never again...at least with kids) and got there the day before the cruise. The day of the cruise, I was so completely wiped out I couldn't even stay up for the Golden Mickey's and went to bed around 9...so much for having fun on the boat for the first night. So, don't exhaust yourself either, relax...enjoy

Finally the last day of school/exams!!!! Now vacation can begin, the girls are counting down till our disney cruise!!!! But the sad part is when we return from the cruise school starts in less then a week:sad2: They will have alot to keep them busy before the cruise soccer, basketball, ice skating and dance....

i was wondering where the link is to the updated fe list? is there one?

School is officially over for my DD today... she took her last regent. :yay: We always go to WDW the last 2 wks of Aug, and I also say don't look forward to the trip too much because when we leave then the summer is over and she starts school the day after we come back. Have to get every moment we can in WDW!!! :)

Where is everyone? I hope everyone has a great week!

Hi there! I keep thinking that I will be done (I am a tutor and I 'help' university students learn how to write essays and do presentations) and more work keeps coming at me!! I should be so so so thankful (and I am) because things are rough here in Greece and I need all the work I can get, but I am really getting burnt out. I have one more student to finish with her work, and then I only have some light teaching, but today another student came and said he had another project to do by July 20:scared1: When am I going to sew the new curtains my living room really really needs?? When am I going to make a fish extender??? When am I going to get ready for this trip?? I am just overwhelmed at the moment...Don't even ask me about :laundy: housework....

Oh and I just wanted everyone to see this. It was posted on the board but I figured I'd put it here:

Dreams Unlimited posted this on Facebook:

"Effective August 2nd [2011], there is going to be a change to the operational hours of the Disney cruise terminal in Port Canaveral. The terminal and parking garage will open at 11:00 AM.

The port arrival times under My Online Check In have been adjusted. If guests arrive earlier they may be asked to wait until their scheduled time before they can enter.

If guests are traveling with another family and the earlier time is gone it is suggested that they all check in at the later time. If guests don’t select an arrival time online they may be delayed entry into the terminal until guests with assigned times are accommodated."

I went to check my port arrival time on DCL's website & the site is down for maintenance. I'll check back later to see if my port arrival time was changed. I originally received 10:30-11am arrival time.
