Disney Dream come True 8/28/2011

so many back to backs! u had me confused!

let us know what sort of discount you get!

Sorry about the confusion! :goodvibes Sometimes it is hard to explain yourself in a foreign language.

I will definitely let you know if we can get a discount on both cruises for next summer. They usually give 10% off and a 100$ stateroom credit. Every little bit helps if you travel for 4 weeks! ;) (Yes, 4 weeks again next summer)

Thank you! :goodvibes We usually stay for 4 weeks as it makes more sense when travelling during the most expensive time in the summer. We are stuck with travelling at the height of the season, since I am dependent on my school holidays! ;)
Wow! A river cruise in Europe. I often see the cruise ships on the Danube and they are SO pretty!
And since you asked - we live in Linz about 120 miles from Vienna. Vienna is VERY beautiful, lots of history! I am taking my class to Vienna in November and I was just reporting about it (with photos) in my pre-trip report for WDW! Feel free to check it out if you want to.
If you need any information or if you come to our area as well, please let me know.

Hi disney67 happy 4th of July weekend! We did a fishing excursion from castaway cay ,well my 2 grandkids and dh did I stayed on the beach soaking up the sun! They really enjoyed it,dh and my granddaughter swam with the dolphins in Cozumel and loved it! May book something like that if possible in Nassau for my other grandkids that will be going on this cruise. We had an ocean view last cruise it was awesome Im sure you will be glad you booked that cat. Im hoping to book onboard for the next year when the fantasy will be sailing, it does give you a better deal to book while onboard so keep that in mind. We added our tips to our payment when paying off the cruise it made it much easier and will do that again for this one. Hope that these tidbits help!:cool1:
thank you for the tip about adding tips to paying off thank you

Hey Howdy Hey.

We are booked on this cruise. This will be our third cruise. We have done a 4 day in 2007 and a 15-day eastbound repositioning cruise from LA to Fla thru the Panama Canal in 2008.

For those who have never sailed w DCL - it is a wonderful vacation... and once you've taken one... you will be looking forward to the next... they are quite addicting.

I would recommend doing parks before the cruise. That said, I have done both (before and after).

As far as Nassau goes, I highly recommend renting a day room at the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island. This will give you access to the Atlantis pools and facilities (which the DCL excursion does not).

We are doing an inside stateroom for the 1st time (we did Balcony Staterooms previously).

Any interest in fish extenders?
Hi silmarg welcome aboard this is starting to turn out to be alot of dis friends and growing . thank you for the advice on before or after but this time due too meeting some magical friends on dry land i booked after how did you like it after ?

Hi! :flower3:

We will be on this cruise as well. It will be the second leg of a B2B for us. We have been on the Disney Wonder in 2009 for our first cruise and loved it so much we are going back for a B2B this summer. (Aug 26 - 29 and Aug 29 - Sept 2).
I am going to book the cruise while on board (I am the discount lady! ;)) hoping they will do the book while on board discount again.

I travel with my brother Tom who is a HUGE lover of all things Disney and we usually stay at Disney for 4 weeks. Travelling from Austria on a 10 hour flight it is just so relaxing to have such a long vacation during the summer.

I would also LOVE to join a FE exchange! We had so much fun on our first cruise doing it! Loved the comments from walkers by that we were with the "fun group"! :goodvibes

To the OP - you are going to love DCL and are going to have a blast! :thumbsup2
Hi dizneeat welcome aboard . What is an FE exchange i think i know what it is you have a shoe thingy hanging on your door and each day a fairy god person puts something in it am i right?

Guys im really sorry i have not posted in a while but ive had a back problem arise and starting to work 7 days and my computer fritzing on me . it was like Murhy's law every day (it means anything that can happend will happend ). I feel like i was going crazy lol .

Hope your feeling better disney67, yes this meet seems to be growing and hope it continues to do so! Dizneeat you can bet I will have some questions about Austria, hope you don t mind answering. It looks so beautiful from what I have seen in pictures! IM still trying to figure out what time of year to go do you have any input as to when would be best ? thanks for any help you can provide me with!:cool1:

Fish extenders - First off - they are FUN!!! :rotfl2:

Here is a photo of the one I made for last year's cruise.

cruiseklein_5.jpg

And here is some more info I borrowed from the DIS.

:boat: Lots about Fish Extenders :boat:
Fish Extender 101
Fish Extender Info

It's kind of like a Secret Santa thing. You have the FE hanging outside your stateroom and everyone who signed up on the exchange leaves little gifts in it. Can be done with one gift for the whole stateroom or several little gifts over the course of the cruise.
It was our first cruise last year and we were with another Disney group and had a blast with the FEs. All of us decorated our stateroom doors (remember, only magnets are allowed) and whenever we got back to our stateroom there was "something" in our FE - HUGE excitement!
We got LOTS of comments about being with the "fun group" and questions on how to join! :thumbsup2

Here's a photo of our loot!

We are doing FEs again this summer on our B2B and hope we can do it again on the Dream cruises as well!

Nothing worse than having health problems and starting new work AND having things go wrong! Hope everything clears up VERY soon!

Best time to visit?
Well, I would say late spring, early summer - 2nd half of May to early July would be wonderful - Austrian schools are still going at that time, the weather should be nice and warm and not too hot by then - flowers and trees should be in full bloom!

Let me know if you have any more questions! :goodvibes

Going to WDW after DCL is fine - heck in my eyes any trip to WDW is fine!

If you frequently travel to WDW, you will often feel like you could use another vacation when you get back home due to exhaustion. Well, DCL could be that vacation since its far more relaxing than a trip to WDW.

That said, if you are used to that exhausting feeling after a trip to WDW, then this will be no different.

What is an FE exchange i think i know what it is you have a shoe thingy hanging on your door and each day a fairy god person puts something in it am i right?

Yes, fish extenders are the shoe thingys. There is a lady who sells Disney decorated FEs on ebay at a reasonable cost (at least that was the case a couple of years ago.

When we did the east bound Panama Canal cruise in 2008 we had 120 DIS families participate in Fish Extenders! There were so many participants, it took me a couple of hours to give out our gift!

Thanks for the welcome! :goodvibes

We are doing FEs again this summer on our B2B and hope we can do it again on the Dream cruises as well!

Nothing worse than having health problems and starting new work AND having things go wrong! Hope everything clears up VERY soon!
how do we get this started for our cruise ??? or is there a thread for this ??

dizneeat thank you for sharing those beatiful pictures of austria they were amazing My aunt has friends that live there but that is all i know im not good with anything outside the US sorry .

how do we get this started for our cruise ??? or is there a thread for this ??

We just make a list and post it here.

I did the same for our cruises this summer - here's the link to my thread - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=35163235#post35163235

Once there are a few people and we are all closer to the cruise a list of all the details can be put up.
I just had a list of the people's screen names (+ number of people cruising devided by adults and kids) until about 3 months before sailing - then I started the one that is currently up.

Let me know what you think of it. :goodvibes

BTW - 120 participants sounds pretty scary! :scared1: They should be devided into several groups! ;)

As disneet says, we would use this tread to collect the families interested (and prob use post #1 to keep track of who is in). You would prob want to collect the stateroom number and number of guests (w ages) who are in the FE.

120 participants sounds pretty scary! :scared1:
I think because the Panama Canal cruise was a "special" cruise, it had an inordinate number of DIS fanatics aboard. That cruise was sold out by noon on the first day it was available for booking. We held weekly chats on the DIS starting 18 months before sailing... there were pre-cruise meets held all over the country (I attended a meet at Yankee Stadium about 12 months before the cruise with about 20 fellow cruisers). There were some who gave very elaborate (and expensive) FE gifts. Some needed to take an extra suitcase just for the FE gifts they gave out.

Here's a picture of what we gave out.
scan0001.jpg

Its missing a Panama(or Canal Zone) stamp - but the ones I actually gave out had the Panama stamp

The stamps (except for Arubas) were postally used stamps that I got for a song on Ebay. I think I had to spend $100 on the Aruba stamps from their postal authority and get it sent to me w expedited shipping. I spent the whole cross country flight (and then some) assembling the 120+ post cards!

Thinking back to that cruise, it was because of us that the DIS had to limit the number of posts that a thread can have before they need to close a thread and start a new one. I think all told we had like 150,000 posts. We used to have a competition between the men vs woman re: who would capture each 1000th post.

One thing I put together was the Roaming Gnome door magnet (u guys know that the doors are metal and can be decorated w magnets?).
ROAMINGGNOME.jpg

scan.jpg

Here is a door magnets we used on our 2007 cruise. For the Panama Canal cruise we had a different magnet for each port. And many of the FE gifts were magnets. By the time the cruise was over the whole door was covered.
untitled.jpg

Oh my gosh! I LOVE the roaming gnome! Something we might keep in mind for this cruise! :lmao:

120 participants is just enormous - I can see that this was a special cruise, but it would freak me out - the stuff I carry for my b2b this summer fills half a suitcase! LOL - we do small things every day and a little European sweet every day, so there is quite something to "transport" and with airlines limiting the number of suitcases you can take ......... :scared1:

So, if we have a FE exchange - may I officially say - I am in! ;)
