Disney Dream August 7, 2011

5? Try noon or even sooner!:rotfl: On the MR my sister, DH and BIL started late am...now that is a prob. The drinks add up after awhile, plus we always give an extra tip even though 15% is already added.

I think all that food that we eat sucks up all the alcohol. Your right the drinks are spread out enough that (Atleast for us) it never is to the point of being OOC (out of control). Just fun. I will say I am usually "drinked out" by the end of our trip. Detox time.

OH god... now completely consumed thinking of the great drinks and awesome food...get me on the boat NOW!

I am really looking forward to soaking in some rays at the Quiet Cove pool! It looks very relaxing. The kids are so excited about the clubs, especially my 11 year old. The putt putt looks fun, too.

The 5night DD navigators should be posted here soon. I think the first DD cruise is this week. I am anxious to see what they have listed.

I hear that the Dream is not going to offer the Big Beer Mugs that the Wonder and Magic have but I am sure I will figure something out. I plan on bringing a nice big bottle of Vanilla Vodka and adding it to my diet coke. So hopefully my bar bill will be less than $500. I love DCL for allowing alcohol to be brought on board.

We bought the wine package last time, but I don't think we are going to do that again.

I am looking for a new camera (point and shoot) I have a Cannon SLR but I don't really like lugging it around the islands. My other point and shoot is an Cannon ELPH that I love, I just need to upgrade it.

We're still working on this, as we will have means of going shopping pre-cruise this time. We are admitted beer snobs (Philly has an awesome craft beer scene), so I'm trying to figure out how to get some of my favorite local stuff in Florida. If we can't do that, We'll likely bring one bottle of wine per night and a bottle of hard liquor - probably some rum - for making mixed drinks with the stuff at the beverage station :X (Cap'n and Cokes at the Quiet Cove? Yes? Anyone?)

I'm probably bringing a bunch of assorted Nips. Since whatever we bring we also have to fly in from Boston, I'm thinking glass bottles won't go over very well. Would love to bring a few bottles of champagne, but probably will buy them on board instead.

If you are OK with a bit of a clunker, the Canon G12 is a monster but is their best point-and-shoot in terms of performance. I wavered for a long time between the Canon S95 and the Panasonic Lumix LX5 (which is what my brother takes along when he's not in the mood to lug around a thousand lenses), and ultimately I liked how ultra-compact the S95 was was given its performance. Any of those three cameras will also let you futz with focal length, aperture, etc. if you're used to shoot SLR :) It took a lot of research for me to send what I did on my camera, but I'm super happy...

Is it really?? I thought it wasn't until the beginning of June! Granted, next week is the beginning of June...

We brought wine and vodka on our last Princess cruise this year and I just used bubble wrap to wrap the bottles and then placed it in an old tube sock. Princess doesn't like you bringing on your on alcohol so I didn't even know if it would make it. But it did....;)

Thanks for the camera advice. I will have to go and check out some reviews. :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness I love vanilla vodka in diet coke. That is my drink in Vegas. I snuck it on my first cruise with carnival.

I love it also! I call it my skinny diet coke. At least with DCL you don't have to sneak it on. We can be drinking these together.

I have heard of people bringing boxes of wine on to avoid the glass.

If you want the same drink devoid of all nutritional value, this also works wonderfully with orange soda.

Totally unrelated to cruising, but since we're talking about tasty drinks. My sister is coming to visit this weekend, and my mission is to recreate this incredibly wonderful martini I had out last month. It's a Strawberry Pop Rocktini. From what I can figure, it is strawberry vodka, white grape juice, strawberry puree, and a float of champagne. Rim the martini glass with pop rocks. I hope it comes out even half as great as the one I ordered. YUM!!!

I never thought of OJ or orange soda. I bet that Jones Orange Cream soda would be great. :thumbsup2 The other thing we brought on was grape flavored vodka. We put it in Sprite.

Let me know how the Pop Rock martini goes. It sounds quite tasty.:goodvibes

BTW- Congrats to everyone who is having good luck with their dining requests and excursions. I hope this vacation is magical for everyone! WE ALL NEED A BREAK, DON'T WE???party:
yes:goodvibes

While I've never stayed at the Polynesian, I *love* visiting it. It has some awesome dining and the whole tropical feel is great, not to mention being on the main monorail track. Needless to say, I'm pretty jealous!
I love the Polynesian!:worship:
I am doing Palo's the last night. It is always sad the last night when you pack your stuff up. I cried in February. Love Beaches and Cream...yummmm
'we are also in Palo the last night!

Palo the last night for us too!!
:goodvibes

YAY! We have a reservation at 8. I looked at the estimated sunset for that day and it should be at 7:50. So it should be beautiful as we eat! We have the 7 show so we will head over to Palo's after. I am looking forward to the restaurants.
I think we have 7:30
Oh, sweet mother of pearl, don't make me so jealous. Kids' last day up here is June 16th, my last day is an entire week of in-services later. Due to the crazy budget cuts happening up here in PA, many of us are also going to be transferred to different grades/rooms/subjects/buildings in response to some program changes as a means of saving jobs...so I really just cannot wait for the year to finally end! Next week should at least be a nice break in routine, though, as I am helping chaperone the annual 7th grade overnight trip to Williamsburg, VA. It's a bit of a crazy time every year, but three days away is still three days away ;)
What district Mackie? I work in CR and I can relate!!

BTW...any chance we can keep this up tonight for long enough to swipe an elusive pirate from jla? ;)[/QUOTE]
muhahaha:banana:

PIRATE!!!!pirate:pirate:pirate:pirate:
:woohoo:

You rock!!!

What and how much alcohol is everyone bringing onboard?popcorn::

I am thinking about 4-5 bottles of wine and maybe some beer.

We should have a progressive happy hour like they do progressive dinners. We all make a mixed drink in our staterooms and share.LOL:rotfl:
:dance3:

We have been arriving on private transportation. This allows us to buy on the way to the ship, arrive early and not have to have heavy luggage.

So.......wow, we are really getting fun! Woo hoo.......love, love, love it!!:cheer2:

I'm in TE. It's so sad, but I guess teaching has always been about doing more with less....now let me at those "creamsicles"!

Also, JLA wins the "most epic post in the thread so far" award. Not sure what you win, though..
