Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

So... we leave tomorrow afternoon on our drive to Disney World. We will have our laptops with us for that leg of our trip... but I wanted to get another idea of what we're doing and how we're going to meet some of you.

I saw that there will be a meet at the port. Is that correct?

Also, I saw a meet at Pink the first evening. Since we don't have anything lime green... or anything of that nature... how would we go about introducing ourselves?

Just curious.

Just had to send out a message - - with 4 days until we depart for the sunny skies of Florida and wondering and hoping that everything will come together........I receive a call here at work that I have a delivery.

A beautiful arrangement of fresh flowers from my husband with a note thanking me in advance for all I have done to make this trip a reality. Wow! I cried when I got them. Better pack the tissues for the cruise. I am very lucky!

[Disney On A Dime!]

So... we leave tomorrow afternoon on our drive to Disney World. We will have our laptops with us for that leg of our trip... but I wanted to get another idea of what we're doing and how we're going to meet some of you.

I saw that there will be a meet at the port. Is that correct?

Also, I saw a meet at Pink the first evening. Since we don't have anything lime green... or anything of that nature... how would we go about introducing ourselves?

-DIS-STUFF FOR OUR CRUISE-


AT THE PORT - Whatever time you get there - we will be congregating in the middle section of the seating area. Most of us will have luggage tags or tote bags with DISigns on them. Some might have something lime green (The DIS color.) We are just going to have to reach out and say "Hello" and introduce ourselves. We might need a cheat sheet of some sort in order to remember names instead of DISnames!


PARTY AT PINK - The first night after late dinner seating or the late show...come to Pink. Again...we might have a tote or some tag that represents the DIS. We might just be the loudest group in the room??? Again - we are just going to have to be forward and introduce ourselves to people.


DISmeet - 9AM on deck 4 outside of the Skyline Lounge (Left side of the ship...don't know the nautical term.) We might venture up to the top deck to see the ship docking...or we might have a perfect view from deck 4. This ship is new to all of us...


Mango Rum Run - 10AM outside on the dock right next to where you disembark. If they have two stations...the one closest to walking into Nassau.


FE Exchange - For those that are signed up...this runs continuously throughout the length of the cruise. Remember to zip-tie your FE to the fish. Also, didn't we say no deliveries after 10PM...because some people were bringing in the FE for the night? Or we could just all check them at 10PM...and make sure that nothing gets left overnight...just a precaution. Thoughts???


That's it! We are ready to rock and roll...literally! If I missed something...let me know...

Isn't Pirate night on the 3rd night? If so we are still safe for the game...if not it's no big deal...we watch sports all the time...Disney Cruises not so much!

I should go find one of those lime green body suits you see some people wearing at football games, then everyone would at least know who I was...maybe I'll look!

Do y'all recommend paying gratuities before the cruise, adding them at guest services during the cruise, or paying cash directly to the CM? I doubt I take cash but may do one of the other options.

You're welcome! I enjoy every moment that I get to talk about Disney and cruising! Well, basically, vacationing! I lost my brother back in 2004, he was 29, and it was unexpected. It totally changed my outlook on life. And it changed my outlook on making memories. When all is said and done, what those on earth are left with, is memories. Not the day to day things that we do over and over again. But the unusual stuff...the venturing out to see new things...meet new people...experience different cultures...watch the ocean go by...talk with those from other countries. Anyhow...not to get anyone down...but these new memories that will be established by this upcoming vacation...will be cherished forever.


So on an upbeat note:

I like the way that you summed it up..."Pink, Rum Run!" And the lime green body suit...I was going to request CY up in another post wear one of those...you know he was asking how to spot people from the DIS! Anyhow...I wouldn't put it past any of you to wear something unexpected to the port. Heck, I have been thinking about it...But I am afraid that my crew might leave me back at the hotel!


As far as gratuities...I don't really know that best answer to that. The easiest way is to prepay. But we have always just followed the system used on the ship...and never had any problems. Some people also opt to give extra cash. It's totally up to you...sorry for no real answer!


Pirate night is on Castaway Cay night...so day 3. Is that game night? If so...one of the bars will definitely have it on. My husband might join you in watching...especially if VCU is in it. Not that we are fans of VCU...just that we are from VA and it is neat to see them in it! My youngest son won our bracket at home. Everyone is out now...due to...well you know. But you all should be able to find the game on somewhere!

It's grey, raining, and cold here in Seattle(not surprising..lol). my husband and I will be stop by the first night at Pink and say Hello! I also wanted to say a big thank you for all you have done to keep us excited about our upcoming trip~ it has been so much fun checking the thread each day! Can you believe you started the thread in November of 2009??
I will definately try to find you at the terminal.

Forecast calls for rain again here tomorrow, so the sun & sea in just 4 days is looking mighty fine!!!

HI EVERYONE

I would also like to thank Crystal and everyone who was on this post giving so many great ideas and info We can't wait to "Let the Memories Begin" as we set sail on our DREAM vacation

The past 24 hours has been kinda...well, really hard....things shaking out ok but boy, AM I REALLY READY TO LEAVE THE "REAL" WORLD BEHIND and get LOST in a TROPICAL DREAM

I have to jump in too and thank Crystal for all the organizing she did as well... made it so easy to join in the fun and stay organized. In my family I am the perpetual planner so its been nice having someone else planning along. That last list of meets etc was great. Trying to keep it all organized so we can get out to meet all these great people on this board. I'm liking the "Pink, Rum Run" Except we will have to miss out on the Rum run part. If we can get another spa time we will get to the Nassau morning get together also. I will be looking for those lime green dis signs and a large group of outgoing friendly people in port. 4 more days...ok 3 since this day is just about over. BTW I had to smile this morning watching the snow flurries knowing that in 4 days it would be nothing but a memory. Right now I am living towards the Dream. See Ya Real Soon...Wendy

Tiffany Howard on ebay....she is a "FE Goddess" We ordered 4 pillow cases and a 5 pocket FE, BEAUTIFUL!!!! Did such a quality job Just wanted to pass this on for anyone who might want one for the next cruise

Thanks for the kudos! Like I said before...I really enjoy Disney and cruising...so this past year and a half have been great! However...none of this would have been possible without the great DISers that have joined our thread! So we all must be pretty awesome!


Hey - I keep updating the first post (The DIS names and real names) just in case anyone wants to print that. After a night at Pink and a Mango Rum Run...I think I might need name tags to remember everyone's names! That's a good thing, though. The more the merrier!

Hi everyone!! It's been a while since I've had time to get on and catch up - so glad to see you all are still here

Crystal - I need to give you extra special thanks for everything you've done to keep the excitement going (I've needed the breaks throughout this long year) and a HUGE thank you for reminding me to stop and take the time to do the FE - my DD and I had a great time Saturday putting our stuff together - it's nothing fancy or as creative as some - but there is a lot of laughter and love in our little goody bags

I cannot wait to meet everyone - we'll see some of you at the Radisson!!! Party on the bus on the way to the port

Another person that I wanted to send my thanks to was kikids for organizing the FE (with the awesome spreadsheet) and her DH for the ship deck plans with all the staterooms marked!!

I know when we get on the ship and people start going all different directions, it will be hard to get those thanks across. So I want to make sure I get it said now

Thanks JETSKIGIRL for reminding us that KIKIDS did the awesome job on the FE organization....I forget that we had two great organizers in this expedition. SO to KIKIDS THANKS!!! I love the spreadsheet and the deckplans with little mouse ears for our locations. I have it packed in my cruise docs already. It was truly fun to participate being led by such great organizers....all this help from everyone (thanks for last minute reminder about the zip ties) should make this a cruise to remember....you guys are gonna be a tough act to follow as we plan next years cruise.
