Disney Dream! 8/15/2012

Hi Kristen! Glad to have you join us. Can't believe how fast the time is flying now! I still have so much to do!

Sorry you missed the cut-off date for the Fish Extender. This is the first time I am participating in a FE. I've decided to try my hand at a duck tape one. I don't sew, so I thought it would be safer choice. LOL We'll see! I also started with my idea/gift selection; some of it bought, some of it made. Hoping everything comes together the way I picture it.

Good for you for making your own FE! I took the easy way out -- found a really cute one on Etsy that I had made. I did the same thing -- made some gifts and bought others. I made a really cute brown lunchbag scrapbook thing that I gave each cabin...filled the pages of it with a Disney word search, quiz, crossword puzzle...some fun facts about the Dream and then in the pockets I put a refrigerator magnet that I made with the sail dates and then a CD I made that contained music from the shows on the ship. Then I bought some little "Disney" things to put in goody bags (based on age and gender) for each kid in each cabin.

It was a very time consuming thing, but I loved it -- doing months of prep really helped build the anticipation of the trip!

I also made my son an autograph book with each page dedicated to a character (found cute character templates on the DIS design boards). Having a custom book really gets extra attention from the characters (on the ship or at the parks really). Captain Jack really went crazy when he saw he had his own page!

Sorry for the confusion in with the abbreviations, they can get a bit confusing.

I am not a Disney boyfriend, although dalpal's comment made us all chuckle.

Clarification of my group:
In room 9660,
Myself: I'm guessing I'd be a DD (Disney dad) or DDD (Disney divorced dad) or DSD (Disney single dad) or who knows what else, but definitely not a DBF.
My daughter: DD12 (Disney daughter age 12)
My father: DGF (Disney grandfather) not Disney girlfriend LOL

In room 9160,
My sister: DM (Disney mom) or DDM or DSM
My nephew: DS14 (Disney son age 14)
My mother: DGM (Disney grandmother)

Hope that clarifies.

We are making our FE's and most likely purchasing the gifts to had out. By we I mean my mom, if I was doing it it would be made out of construction paper and staples :cool1:

Wow! You were more ambitious than me! I think I'm doing pretty good for a 1st timer though. I will try to post a pic of my FE gifts after the cruise.

Hey, I used construction paper on some of my FE gifts! :lmao: Got to say, don't think those particular items came out half-bad.

"There is nothing wrong with construction paper and staples Might be interesting to see what you come up with."

Agree. It's amazing what creative ideas people can come up with using just about anything!

"Betsy (Dalpal) and I had set up some information for a DIS meet the first afternoon onboard but she never posted it here yet.

I will find the information and post it.

Here it is:

Hello fellow cruisers! Robin and I have come up with a meeting place if it works for everyone.

We will all meet up before the sail away at 3PM-ish in the Bon Voyage lounge.
It is ........
From the disney site: "a bar located on Deck 3, Midship, situated in the grand Atrium on the Disney Dream. It is the perfect place for Guests to enjoy a refreshing beverage before dinner.
...
Bon Voyage offers a sophisticated Art Deco retreat for Guests to relax and unwind at the bar or in its comfortable sitting area.

Beverages
Bon Voyage's full bar serves a large selection of beer, wine and mixed cocktails to Guests 21 years of age or older for an additional fee."

Thanks for doing that! Will try my best to be there. :grouphug:

Does anyone know what night is the pirate party? I have booked Palo for DH & me on the Castaway Cay night and I hope we won't miss too much fun on deck!

We have discussed this previously on the Facebook page and decided that pirate night is usually held on the night that we leave Nassau.

So, you should be okay with your Palo reservation.

(Disclaimer......... don't take this opinion as fact because we sometimes don't really know what we are talking about :rotfl2: )

This cruise has the same Itinerary (Itinerary B) as our cruise from November...PC, Nassau, At Sea, Castaway Cay, PC. When we sailed in November, Pirate night was on the At Sea day...which was Friday. Thinking it will probably be the same this time as well!

Sounds like Kristin is better informed of the current stuff, so we will go with her information:thumbsup2

Hi everyone, I just wanted to join the party. We ( myself ,DW, and 9 yrd old twin boys at time of sailing) just booked this cruise this week as part of a land/sea stay. I have a lot of catching up to do on the cruise forums but a lot of time to do it before we sail. See you all there ( and here).

We are from Rochester area too! I hope you are having fun planning! Are you going to WDW before or after the cruise?

okay, finally have everything booked....... flights, motel room, rental cars..

We are good to go:thumbsup2

where are you staying?

I opted for a motel near the airport. Our flight does not get in until 8:22 pm so thought that was the easiest option. It is a Hampton Inn, I think.

We were without electricity for almost 8 hours last night. It clicked off at approx 5:30 pm. Eventually I called the hydro company to see what was going on (about 11ish) and they told me that the power had been restored to my address. Ummmm, nope :rotfl2: So they said they would check it out. Finally came back on somewhere around 2am. Good thing we have generators. Hooked it up to the fridge and freezer and kept that going at least.

Time sure is starting to fly! I've been busy working on completing my Fish Extender and making FE gifts. It's actually been fun! It's taking time...but, I'm learning a lot as I go along. :goodvibes

We've been experiencing a heat wave here. We've had 3 days of upper 90's with high humidity...making it feel like 100+ at times. Can't wait for it to break! Supposed to do so tonight when the cold front moves in and brings thunderstorms along with it. Hoping for a nice weekend! :beach:
