Disney Dream! 8/15/2012

Merry Christmas everyone.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day.

:santa:

I had a great Christmas!
How was your Christmas in your new home?... Did you enjoy decorating it?
Are you missing your parking fights with the people across the street yet?...LOL

I think this will be another dying thread, because of FB!:3dglasses

Have a great day!

TTFNpaw:

This thread is very quiet. Maybe it will pick up when the cruise date gets closer?

Hope everyone had a great holiday season.

Nope I have a funny feeling the disboards are not going to be doing so well since FB.

It really made me wonder why they were so nit-picky about me letting you all know about my disney articles, as I would mention the disboards in them:confused3 you'd think they would be glad to have others find out about them.:confused3 Also not to ostracize a long term user and advocate of their site. The warning kind of irked me.

Oh well I am just glad to have FB to go to when these get dropped by everyone...Id miss you and all my boards friends ...BIG TIME.

Well have a good day Robin:wizard:
Cant wait to get this cruise going!.. Ive been trying to talk Mandy into joining us...That would be cool!

TTFNpaw:

Just a few things I found on Trip Advisor...Thought some might be interested.
:thumbsup2

:3dglassesI have been looking and we may hire a taxi to drive us around Nassau, just to see something other then the straw Mkt. or Atlantis.
I hear there are a few really nice beaches. Did you know you can get day passes at their Breezes resort use of all their facilities..Here is a quote from TA.
The Breezes day pass($60.00) is from 10:00am till 5:00pm it includes all your drinks, main dining room buffet for lunch(12:30-2:30pm), pool grill(11:30-5:30) where they have a variety of food, watersports(non-motorized) that are available to Breezes guests. You get use of the pool and beach. It is a very good deal.

or I found this on TA too.It sounds like another good plan...
#10 bus, for $1.25 it will take you all the way down bay street out of downtown where you'll see stores and crowds, then past cable beach area where you'll see hotels and mansions, then past restaurants and shopping plazas with grocery stores and townhouses and condos across from small strips of beach, sit near the front if you can and ask the bus driver to take you to Travellers Rest restaurant, maybe 10-20 min bus ride depending on traffic, have lunch or just a drink there after exploring the small local beach with waves lapping at your feet, enjoy your drink or lunch on the patio overlooking the beach then make you way back to town again on the #10 bus for 1.25

or.... I also found this... Sounds like a more reasonable price!
Wanted to buy a day pass at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort while on a cruise. Pass was $25 per person to use their beach, pools, hot tubs, towels, chairs and umbrellas, and hotel facilities. We ended up booking (online) a room for the day for $119 for four adults - only $19 more than four day passes! We took a jitney for $1.25 each to the hotel from the port. Stopped in a duty free store to buy adult beverages. Put all of our stuff in the room, made some drinks to take out to the pool, used all of the facilities, took turns going back to the room to shower and change before heading back to the ship at 6 pm (by taxi). Beautiful resort hotel, great pools, beautiful beach. Perfect way to spend the day if you love the beach. (Note: hotel room was supposed to be available at 7 AM. We arrived at 9 am and had to wait until 10:30 for a room but were able to change into swimsuits and go to the pool/beach while waiting.

Don't know about getting the room but $25 for the rest sounded fine to me.

I'm just thinking with the water slide, and what I have been reading. A LOT of people don't get off the ship in Nassau now and it has been many years since I have visited Nassau.

Just a little over 7 Months!

TTFNpaw:

Betsy- that sounds like a good idea. We have been thinking of the Ardastra Gardens. It is reasonably priced. But, we are torn. Some of us want to spend the day on the ship just to enjoy it with less people. Some of us want to go shopping a bit in Nassau.
We'll debate and research and figure it out by June when it's time to book excursions.

Any plans for Castaway Cay?

Hi everyone! Just found this thread for our Disney Cruise. Had previously posted on Cruisecritic, but didn't get many responses. Glad to see there are others on this Disney Cruise with us! Haven't had a chance to read all the posts yet on this thread, but will do so. This will be our first Disney cruise and we are really looking forward to it! It will be myself, my daughter, and my two granddaughters, who will be 9 and one month shy of 4 by the date of our cruise. Looking forward to chatting and getting to know you all here before we set sail!

Need help. I forgot how to add a Ticker I created. Thanks!

Hello and welcome tripster, glad to have you and your family aboard with us.

I have been spending a lot of time over on Cruise Critic these days because I am cruising with Royal Caribbean at the end of the month. And also because I have a real hard time getting on the DISboards these days for some reason. It drives me crazy at times LOL.

Your first Disney Cruise? How exciting. If you have any questions please feel free to ask and we will help if we can. This will be my ummm, 14th Disney Cruise!

I have the signatures all shut off at the moment trying to make it easier to get on the boards but I think if you hover over one of them you might be able to click on it and it will lead you to the proper place to make your own?

Hi Cruisin:
I had already made my ticker here on the site, but couldn't figure out how to get it to appear on my posts. I know that you need to copy and paste it somewhere. Is it part of your signature or is there somewhere else that it is placed?

I love Royal Caribbean! Most of my cruises have been with them. I loved learning so much on Cruise Critic and even started my own Meet & Greet last time! It was great!! Is this your first time with them or have you cruised with them before? I did the Southern Caribbean, Western Caribbean, and the Alaska-Inside Passage with them. I've also cruised with Premiere and Norweigen. And like I said, this is my first time with Disney! I'm really looking forward to this one with the grandchildren!

As far as questions go, I think I've learned just about everything already on Cruise Critic. But, if something new comes along, I'll let you know. Cruise Critic is a great place to learn and talk with others. I also find it a much easier site to use than DIS; better organized. But, looks like most Disney Cruisers post here, and I wanted to meet fellow cruisers and chat. Not too easy to find our Disney Cruise Meet thread, though, as they aren't listed by ship; so you kind of have to shift through all of them! Oh, well.

Looking forward to keeping in touch and talking to you and all the others taking this August 15, 2012 Disney Cruise! It won't be long now!!

How many of your are flying in the night before? Are you staying in Orlando or closer to the cruiseport? Would love to hear. Also, what type of transportation are you using?

I see that you tried to get your ticker to work but it isn't showing properly.

This will be our 5th cruise with Royal Caribbean and we have cruised twice with Norwegian also.

You can subscribe to this thread and then a little blue checkmark will show up beside this thread and that will make it easier for you to find it amongst the others.

As for the rest of the details transportation/where to stay etc, I haven't even begun to think about that yet. I will start to look at that after we get back from the upcoming cruise.

We nearly always fly in at least the day before a cruise and we would most likely stay in the Orlando/Disney area the night before.

Your code at the bottom doesn't look anything like the code that makes my ticker work.

when you copy and paste into the box in the "edit your signature" area, try using the preview signature option to see if it works okay.

tripster, I figured out your problem with the ticker.

When you made your ticker and you get to the end it gives you several options to cut and paste on your edit signature area.

You used the wrong code. Go back and do it again and use the second option down..... it starts like this: [url=http:// and continues on from there.

That should fix the trouble. Good luck!

Hi tripster, Robin,other fellow cruisers:wave:

Just popped in to say.........
HAPPY "SIX" DAY!!
:boat:six months and six days until we get to board the Disney Dream! yea!:cheer2:
(notice the Disney cruiseline colors?;))

We(my husband and I) will be flying in five days before the cruise.Staying at the world until the cruise, and Flying home the day we disembark. We will do a one way rental to get from WDW to the port. (much cheaper then taking Disney transportation).
I know a few people are going to WDW after the cruise, but our APs expire the 15th, so it's before for us or we dont get to visit the parks. I cant go all the way to Fla, and not visit the parks. Especially since we will have no grand kids in tow this time.:cool1: We normally take a few ( we have 15) grand kids every other year and then have a trip for ourselves the years we don't take them. Its a totally different kind of park enjoyment sans kids. ::yes::

What are your plans tripster?

Well I am getting very excited!:cool1: Too bad we have to wait all summer before we can go.:rolleyes1 Oh well I have you all to suffer with me.:grouphug:

Shopping for me today...exciting stuff...lol:rolleyes:

TTFNpaw:

I hope you all have a great day

Oh my Gosh:cool1::thumbsup2:cool1:
6 months + 6 days!

Can't wait! Plus in about 11 days I can make the ADR's for our WDW visit post cruise!:cutie::banana::cutie:

As you can see, I did as you suggested and was able to post my ticker. The only problem is, I don't think it's working properly. The ship doesn't appear in the right spot, so I don't think it will be moving. ???

How do you "subscribe" to a thread? I would love to do that! I hate having to fish for this thread every time I go on!! Thanks.

Hi Betsy.
We will be flying in the night before. My daughter and granddaughters will actually be going to Disney World later on this month, so we won't be going there right before or after the cruise. It will stictly be the cruise this time around! Because of that, I am thinking that we will get a hotel close to the cruiseport that night. Unsure what we are doing about transportation to and from. Right now, it looks like we will probably go with a private shuttle. Either that or rent a car; though, really don't want to go through that trouble. Would rather relax and have someone just pick us up and do the driving! LOL
