Disney Dream - 7 April 2011 for 3 nights

Just booked our first Disney Cruise for our honeymoon. We are planning a Disney wedding for April 4th, followed by the cruise, and then a stay at WDW after! Whew! A little nervous for our first cruise but so excited to get to see the new ship!

Myself: 26
Fiance: 31

Now that I've made the deposit, what do I do from here?

Enjoy yourself! We did the same thing 9 years ago this August. We didn't have the wedding there, but did a land/sea combo and it was our first cruise. It was great.

We will also be on the April 7 Dream cruise. It will be the year of our 10th anniversary and my son will be close to turning 7.

Just booked this Dream cruise today! Soooo excited...it's our FIRST Disney cruise.:yay:

It's me: TJ
DH: Bill
DD: Jillian (17...sailing to celebrate her high school graduation)
DD: Carrigan (13)

Can't wait to meet everyone! Started planning FEs already!:cheer2:

Hi TJ - welcome to our little group. I am sure we will get bigger as we go. Not long now (okay perhaps almost a year - but ya know - time flies when your having fun!)

Welcome TheMouseGeeks - my daughter will be turning 11 on 4/7/11 cruise! She will be very excited that there will be another 11 year old on board.

Hey Everyone,
I am just popping in over here from the 4/3/2011 thread. We are also booked b2b 4/3 and 4/7. It sounds like there are quite a few that are doing both :woohoo:

My DD is 12 (almost 13 by the time of the cruise) so she is pretty close in age too :)

We are also now booked on a B2B 4/3 & 4/7!!! Woot!!!!

I have 2 DS, ages 2 and 7 at sailing!

Hi everyone,

This will be our first cruise...normally have just visited the parks but decided to try the land/cruise vacation. It will be just myself and and my 8 year old son. He is so excited.

:welcome:

Just popping in to say hi! Can't wait to cruise with you all. This was going to be our first Disney cruise (and still will be for our two daughters) but my husband and I have decided to celebrate our 20th Anniversary on the Wonder this Sept. So excited! Getting experience with the FE exchange. What a blast!

I'm willing to keep track of anyone interested in doing an FE exchange on this cruise. When you join...let us know who your cast members are and if you are wanting to participate in the FE exchange. And...yes...I'm a planner!:thumbsup2

Happy August!

TJ

As time gets closer...if there is any teen that would like to start/join a "teen thread" for this cruise...let me know. My 13-year-old would love to get to know you all!:thumbsup2

Hey there...

People make hanging pocket holders that hang from the fish just outside your state room and then you do a "secret santa" type gift exchange with the people you meet on this thread. People do the exchange any way they want...one gift per cabin...then small item(s) for the kids. Or just a cabin gift. Some do the gifts once per day...or multiple times...totally up to how you want to do it and how much/little you want to spend. It's fun.

Obviously we don't have much time since it's only a three day cruise...but it will be fun.

You can search the boards to find examples of the actual fish extenders and there are also some threads that show what type of gifts people are giving/making.

Hope that long-winded answer helps!:thumbsup2

Hi, the FE Exchange sounds like alot of fun....count me in. It is myself and my 8 year old son. This is our first Disney cruise and see there is alot to learn about these cruises. I'm really interested in hearing about the magnets that people put on their doors.

Looking forward to the cruise.

:cool1:

I can ask one of the DISigners to make us a custom one to put on our doors....but we need to name this cruise.:thumbsup2

Any ideas??? Something about "the Dream" and Bahamas. I'm usually creative but for the life of me nothing good is coming to mind.:confused3

And where are all of our chatty Spring Break cruisers????? This thread is sooooo small for the amount of people I KNOW are sailing away that day.:rotfl:

Let me know your thoughts...ideas!!!

TJ

that would be great if we can all come up with a really fun sign. I've been trying to think of something creative and I guess I'm having no luck. I've looked at some of the other cruise dates to see if anyone there has come up with something but didn't see anything. Hopefully more people will join the posting...ours is low compared to other dates.

Lori

Oh, where do you find the hangers for the FE exchange? I haven't found much online.

Try ETSY (search Fish Extender). Got mine from Ebay but wasn't what I ordered (used wrong colors) so I can't recommend them. :(

There is a thread on the boards about making a no sew one too.

You can really do whatever you want...some people hang out bags. Just be as creative as you want!

:thumbsup2

hi everyone...I've been reading some threads about sea lice and some people mention about purchasing a special sunscreen lotion for this. I've normally taken cruises in the month of February and never encountered this. Have any of you experienced this or know anyone that has? Trying to see if I need to order this lotion from one of the online sites.

Thanks,

Lori

Oh no...one more thing to worry about before we set sail! Yuck!:scared1:

I haven't heard of anything of the sorts. Keep me posted on what you find out! :thumbsup2

I lived in South Florida for many years and have visited the Bahamas numberous times and never heard anyone talk sea lice as a problem. I think you will be fine.

We will also be on the 4/7 Dream Cruise. It is our first cruise and first trip to Disney. I am up for FE as well. Son 11 and Daughter 8 will love it. Let me know if I can help plan. Karel
