DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

Hi Chuck....do you recall your server's last name? Was it Predic and did she look like this?
IMG_1825.jpg
or another picture
IMG_2097.jpg

Now I understand there are many people with the same name but just maybe.... :confused3

yes, that is her. We are friends with her on facebook, but she is signing off the Dream on May 8th and won't be on the ship. We were going to request her as our server.

OK - How do I download it to something I can work with? Tried but failed!

I think the meet is a great idea for both the kids and adults! That time sounds good to me. Have to be out for the drill anyway.

Hi everyone, yes I thot I would take the meet and greet on but this is my first cruise so I hope it goes smooth:goodvibes

So, I have chosen the Vista cafe, deck 4 at 3pm. From what I have read, the time should be before the lifeboat drill.

My idea is for everyone to download (save ) the graphic above, put your DIS name and real name and create a badge. Print it on card stock paper or whatever. I saw plastic name tag covers at the dollar store ( the kind at conventions )

If some of you would like to meet for a drink later, I was thinking 10pm ish at
"District Lounge" deck 4 aft. Looks like a fun place.

I hope no one has trouble with the name badge. please let me know what you think.
Thanks to Philatiger for the help with the graphic:worship:

Know I am late on this, but wanted to throw in my two cents-
Just do whatever you are comfortable with and can afford! The fun for our family is just finding something (anything will do!) in the FE! The other fun is delivery and finding all the cabins in the group. It is meant to be FUN not something to stress about. Candy or stickers would be completely fine. :thumbsup2 I used to get all wigged out about it because I am NOT crafty at all and was jealous of all the cool things people make. Now I just decide what I want to do and go with it hoping people take it in the spirit of fun intended. It's not a competition after all! As far as people joining for the FE, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.
I have to agree with ABCAngie. I was taken back by the FE thread on the other thread. I too am a newbie and went from lurker to poster to sign us up for the FE list. I am not a big typer and online chatter. When I first read about the FE's... I immediately pictured my StephentheBrave sneaking down a hallway putting some candy in FE's. My wife and son had alot of fun picking the colors for the FE that we ordered off of EBay. We are looking forward to it alot. The worry is that we are over our heads. We are on a fixed budget and can not get extreme on this. We pictured it as more like a reverse Halloween. Some of the gifts that are pictured on different threads are way beyond our means. I read that some folks want a smaller FE list, might I suggest a smaller list with people like us who just want to do some candy, stickers, or something small?

Thanks,

Bill

re: fe---we'll be excited for anything and everything we get, cool and crafty, and not! :)

I'm trying to figure out how to upload a picture on here. I know I click the mountains and put in a link to like a flikr picture, but it keeps not working. you guys are going to be the guinea pigs while I learn. Please forgive me :)

Do I have to have X number of posts to be able to do this or something?

anyways, if it works, here is a pic of the girls and I.

Holy cow! Did anyone tell Mother Nature it is April?? That is just not right. Unbelievably, it was 80 here today! Of course tomorrow it is going to only get to 48 or so and storms all night in between. Gotta love Missouri early Spring weather! Hurry up sail date!

If you go to the origianl post of the graphic and rt cick on it. Choose to save picture in a file or even your desktop. After that just open it with whatever picture software you have :) Mine worked great and it looks much better printed on photo paper.
Hope this helps:thumbsup2

RE: my back deck this morning, yeah it is wrong but you can see the blue sky:goodvibes gotta see the bright side, eh

Yep. I did that one-- with the little mountains, right? then you put your URL to the flickr picture there? Not working. Weird. Oh well. Just thought I'd try again.

Do you know if you have to have a certain number of posts to be able to do that?

Anyone do anything exciting this weekend? We celebrated DD7 bday and tried to be productive around here. With a DD3 and a DD7, most things are counterproductive to their whirl-windedness :)

What was the highlight of your most recent Disney cruise?

In general, we love the pirate party. Our last cruise, we really enjoyed the rainforest pass at the spa and doing some group games.

We had a nice cruise on the last one, but lots of downers on it. Still better than being home and at work, though. I got sick. It was cold (President's weekend, last year) and the weather was so bad we could not go to Castaway Cay. The Magic got stuck on Castaway Cay and ended up being a day late getting back. We were on the Wonder - short 3 day cruise. The Pirate party was fun, but abruptly ended with a downpour. We did not care for our server. When we got back to our car, dh realized he left our keys on board. Then we went to WDW for 2 nights, where ds and I were sick. Some virus was going around because every where we went, people were in the bathrooms throwing up. I later saw a friend and in conversation realized we were at WDW that same weekend and she told me her ds got sick while there, also.

The big highlight of our trip is we came to our room at SSR with our room decorated and lots of presents - huge Mickey Mouse, white gloves, embroidered blanket, autograph book, balloons, mickey confetti, popcorn tins and the tin was made in an arrangement with Mickey Rice crispy treats. THere was a card that just said something odd like "From a shareholder." We laughed and kept saying to each other - "they got the wrong room," and the blanket had our last name embroidered on it. We called the front desk and were told - nope - it's for you - no mistake.

We later found out it was from a co-worker of dh's. He did it "just because."

Flicker is a little trickier than Photobucket which I use. Here is what you need to do. Click on your picture and it should open bigger. Just above the picture you will see actions and facebook links.... click on the arrow next to the twitter icon and select grab the HTML code. Select BBCode and copy the link.

On the boards you won't have to select the mountain, just paste the link. If you don't want your user id to show up next to your picture, delete the code at the end all the way back to the ] right before the IMG_your picture number.

I hope this makes sense. If you have trouble I can send you an email with an example. I can't send it you you in a PM since it hides the code and shows the pic.

philatiger, you are my new BFF. :cool1:

and btw, I am sure that I am going to call you phil when we finally meet because that's what I keep calling you in my head whenever i see your posts.

Hey abcangie87 - what part of Kansas are you in? We're from Topeka and can't wait for cruise.

Made some modifications to my cruise plans this evening- gave up a double jetski for day 2 (1st CC day) if anyone wants to go grab it (it was a 12pm slot). Switched because I'm going to do a cabana massage with DH's cousin- this is her first DCL voyage and she said it would be nice to not do it alone so I thought "what the hell" since I've never had one ON the beach. I hope it's relaxing!!
Also booked Stingray adventure for my 5 y/o DD and I. "Girl time" :lovestruc- she's nervous but I promised her she didn't have to feed them if she didn't want to. She's a budding photographer so I will get her a waterproof camera (one of the Kodak ones) and let her bring it.

ALMOST there- just a 'few' more weeks. I go back to work in another week (still recouping from surgery this week) so once I go back I know it's going to FLY!! Between now and then we have 2 dance competitions, my son's 1st communion, and various other mini 'events' going on so we are busy busy busy! Which is FINE because it will definitely help the time go by and before we know it we'll be hearing the blast of the Dream's horn! I can't WAIT!

Favorite part of the cruise:

1. The look on my little ones faces when we come around the bend and they get a look at the boat for the first time! They just light up, and stay that way for hours.

2. Konk cooler and a hammock to myself on Castaway Cay, and nobody yelling MOM!!! I love the kids club!!

We are early dinner, and late show.

I just printed the cute Diser tags on business cards I had left from work. They should fit in our lanyard pouches right?

We are still cruising in the lifeboat ... haven't received our room assignment yet. I see some others who were GTY have rec'd their room assignment, so hoping we will see ours soon. We are booked in 11B GTY. Our res shows 2nd seating with 5 pm show.

8 weeks to go. YAY!!:banana::banana: For those of you who have packed or have the suitcases out, I don't know how you do it. I am a last-minute packer. I have tried to pack early (the weekend before is early to me), but then I am never really sure what I have and don't have. I'll probably be packing the night before we leave.

GreatWhiteNorth, I feel your pain! A couple weeks ago, here in MN, we could see quite a bit of grass and the big snowbanks were slowly melting away. Then Mother Nature decided to give us another 8 inches of snow. Today, I noticed the snow has pretty much melted again except for those larger mounds, but we have snow predicted overnight again. Our first snow this year was mid-November, so it has been a long winter. We are all getting antsy for spring to arrive, but I have seen some solid signs it will come eventually. I saw lots of robins around and the ice on the lakes is starting to turn to water along the shoreline and I noticed a few blades of green grass trying to poke through on the lawn.

We sailed on the Wonder for the 15-night Panama Canal cruise this past January. We had about 100 staterooms participate in the FE. Some people choose to do one gift per stateroom, others decided to only give gifts to children, some did all members in a stateroom. It was all good. Don't let the FE worry you. I think the most fun is returning to your stateroom and just finding something in the FE. Kind of like, "you've got mail." It brings a smile to both DD and my face. We always have fun sneaking around, delivering our gifts.

I have so many wonderful DCL memories. I just love CC but, sadly, have missed it the last 2 cruises. In Nov 2009, I went with my 3 sisters and I was ill (some respiratory infection) and flat in bed on CC day. It killed me to stay in bed while they enjoyed the island. This past January on the 15-nt PC cruise, it was too windy to dock. The captain tried 3 times, but it was a no-go. I figure the double dip, is to pay me back for missing the last two times. This will be my 14th DCL cruise, and I have only missed CC one other time, which happened to be my first cruise back in Aug '99. Hurricane Dennis kept us from visiting. I don't want anybody worrying that I am a jinx and that we won't get to CC!!!

Looking forward to the meet & greets and looking forward to sitting on the beach at CC sipping a Konk Kooler!!! :disrocks: :beach: :drinking1
