DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

Hi everyone, yes I thot I would take the meet and greet on but this is my first cruise so I hope it goes smooth:goodvibes

So, I have chosen the Vista cafe, deck 4 at 3pm. From what I have read, the time should be before the lifeboat drill.

My idea is for everyone to download (save ) the graphic above, put your DIS name and real name and create a badge. Print it on card stock paper or whatever. I saw plastic name tag covers at the dollar store ( the kind at conventions )

If some of you would like to meet for a drink later, I was thinking 10pm ish at
"District Lounge" deck 4 aft. Looks like a fun place.

I hope no one has trouble with the name badge. please let me know what you think.
Thanks to Philatiger for the help with the graphic:worship:

Thanks for working on setting up some meets. Looks good to me.

I did our tags on photo paper. When I did it on card stock the blue washed out to a dark grey. With photo paper it came out true to color. Had to work a little adjusting size & fonts because I just got a new computer & was working with a new photo program. Now all I have to do is get some badge holders.:thumbsup2

Miz-Diz -- We booked through Disney and on our reservation our total cruise price was lowered. When I checked our previous copy of the reservation it was a higher dollar amount. Thanks for the tip about south Atlanta, we will not stop there

Angie-- The Dis-green name tag looks good to me:thumbsup2. I just need to get the name tag pouch for it. Thanks for heading up the meet and greet.

This week has been dragginf for me at work even though I am busy and of course the nights/weekend flys by! I can't wait for our cruise.
Oh, I maybe getting to spend a fews days at WDW after the cruise- keep your fingers crossed for me! Hoping for a deal to "sell" DH on it. It is star wars weekend:darth::yoda::chewy::ewok:

Thanks everyone, glad to do it, I was not sure what paper would work best but photo will do :)

We never got connecting rooms, but it will be fine. I am just so excited to be on this cruise!!! We will be in rooms 9606 and 9602 and I will be in one cabin with my girls ages 8, 7, and 5, and my DH will be with our twin boys who are turning 4 on the ship-June 1. Our oldest turns 8 on may 22 and the middle girl turns 7 on June 17 so this trip is one big birthday party/present for everyone. I'm sure my girls will want to meet yours and hopefully play together in the kid's club! We are booked for the early show and late dinner. We are doing the FE and have already started working on our gifts. This is our first Disney cruise and the kids are so excited, but my DH and I know that they will be so blown away when we get there because even though they watch the cruise-planning DVD almost everyday, there is no way for them to fathom how awesome this ship is going to be!!! We will be driving from Birmingham, AL and plan to leave on Saturday and spend the night somewhere in Florida that night and finish the drive on Sunday. We are really looking forward to meeting everyone on this thread! I am planning for all of us to dress up in our pirate gear, but DH says he is not sure if he wants to go beyond a bandana and an eye patch. I am packing him a cool costume and hope he will get into it! What about the other guys out there? Will there be a lot of you in pirate clothes??pirate:

:woohoo::woohoo:

EIGHT MORE FRIDAYS?!?! WOW that is soooo DOABLE, right?! Can I get an Amen? Chuck I love your pictures/graphics you put on your Friday posts. Are you a graphic designer or something? (speaking of which, did you do the questionaire thingy? I can't find it, what page is it on?).

5griffins, if you can get your hubby to wear the pirate bandana or an eyepatch, you're way ahead of me. At best I will get Matt to wear a Pirates of the Carib or Goonies Tshirt to celebrate his piracy. LOL. My girls have pirate costumes I think I might pack. Me? I'm not sure what I will be doing.

Off to get my April Fools birthday girl (turning 7 today) ready for school! Have a FABULOUS FABULOUS day everyone!!!!!!!

I wish I had the talent to be a designer. I just do a google search for the numbers. Somewhere along the way I did the survey and posted a pic.

Did you see the thread recently started that asked "what do you think of people who join your Meet group just for the FE?" (I don't know how to link to it so you'll just have to go look).

I read the post and it sounded just like me?!

So I just wanted to tell you, my cruise group, that I'm EXCITED to get to know some people before and during our cruise, and that I didnt even know what the heck an FE was until after I did some reading on this page.

I'm doing the FE because it's just totally my kind of thing. And let me tell ya. I've got some awesome ideas rolling around in my head for you FE-ers. :)

But anyways. Just wanted to mention that here. I'm all about new friends and acquantances, (or however you spell that), and I'm so thrilled that DisBoards helps us create a little community for our very own sailing! The FE is just the icing on the cake :)

may your day be full of pixie dust!

I have no problem with people just joining for the FE. Some people are chatters (like me) and others are not. Disney is all about the magic and each of us has his or her own way to enjoy and share it.

So I will keep chatting until some one says shut up :rotfl:

I have to agree with ABCAngie. I was taken back by the FE thread on the other thread. I too am a newbie and went from lurker to poster to sign us up for the FE list. I am not a big typer and online chatter. When I first read about the FE's... I immediately pictured my StephentheBrave sneaking down a hallway putting some candy in FE's. My wife and son had alot of fun picking the colors for the FE that we ordered off of EBay. We are looking forward to it alot. The worry is that we are over our heads. We are on a fixed budget and can not get extreme on this. We pictured it as more like a reverse Halloween. Some of the gifts that are pictured on different threads are way beyond our means. I read that some folks want a smaller FE list, might I suggest a smaller list with people like us who just want to do some candy, stickers, or something small?

Thanks,

Bill

I just wanted to say that no one should feel obligated to spend a certain amount of money or provide elaborate gifts. I want every one to enjoy their cruise and not feel stressed about the FE. It's really all about the fun of decorating the FE and seeing the little surprises, and also about bringing a little magic to others.

Some people are very crafty and enjoy making things, others are not. I have mentioned a few times that I check out the dollar bins at target, dollar stores, and even the clearance sections at Michael's have some cool things. We also have a local farmers market with a flea market. Some of the vendors have those dollar bins. I have found a ton of things there too.

I agree the group is getting big and would probably benefit from being split. It could take a lot of time to get to all the cabins.

Happy Friday!! Being new to the thread/boardI'd like to thank everyone for sharing their experiences & bringing some great idea's to us newbies. I've really learned some great tips that will make my trip much more enjoyable (ie...pillowcase to guest services / Baskets by Shirley). I never would have known without finding this board & reading some of the interesting posts.

I admit I have been lurking for a little while just to see what it's all about and altho I may not have much to contribute I wanted to say "Thanks!"

We've had our tickets booked since Jan 2010 & it seemed so far away. I am starting to get very excited as this will be our first real vacation since we were married in 2003 (Carnival Cruise). Seemed like the best place to take our 5 year old daughter where I may actually get some rest & relaxation too!!

I'm looking forward to meeting some new friends along the way.

Have a great weekend.

Welcome Bumak!!

As others have stated, the FE is just about the fun and anticipation, at least that's the vibe I'm getting and going with. I'm trying to think of something fun and crafty to do, but my budget does not always match my crazy ideas! I can tell you that the kiddos would be THRILLED with candy. I'd be thrilled with... seriously anything! (and if anyone is driving to the port and decides to do cans of diet dr pepper for their FE gift, I would seriously kiss them :rotfl: ) I like the challenge of seeing just how far I can stretch my little budget for this!

Since we're not doing set delivery dates, etc, I'm at this point fine with the numbers. I think 40 is "fairly" doable, I just might split deliveries up to two different days. Of course if the general group thinks splitting it is better, I'm cool with that too. How do we take a vote? We are closing the list in about 2 weeks, right?

Anyways, I say No Stressing! Have Fun! Get what you can afford and know that it will be appreciated! :yay:

Thanks abcangie87!!

Too funny about the cans of pop! haha I am thinking about ordering a basket for my DD (5) and thought maybe I'd add a few cans of Pepsi for myself :)

So very excited for this trip!!

Roll Call info:

Jay(36), Kelly(turning 39 on May 30th) and Emily(5 at cruise time) Cabin 8118, Early Dining

I don't think we'll be early enough for the meet & greet but I will keep my eyes open for any other information that gets posted. Our flight doesn't arrive at MCO until almost 1pm so we are cutting it very close! We didn't have a whole lot of options flying out of Toronto & didn't think driving across the border would be much fun with a 5 year old!
