DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

:) Both the Vista Cafe and Deck 13 are great spots for meet and greet.....Vista Cafe is a smaller area. Deck 13 is huge with plenty of seating.
:) Sailed with a large group a few weeks back and several of us met up after muster before sailaway at the aft end of the family pool. Someone was able to go up on the balcony above us and take a great picture of our group and then we were all there together as Sailaway started.
:) If people head straight up from muster (which you can do now that you don't need to wear your life jackets to muster) you'll find each other easily and the space should be uncrowded.
:) We’re doing our first meet at 3:00 (about an hour before the lifeboat drill) in the Vista Café - Deck-4 starboard. It’s just up the grand staircase, and across form shutters. Comfy spot, and fairly quiet on boarding day.
Got these from another thread

I am open for any of these ideas. Would some one like to take charge of the meet and greet? There is not a lot of work to it really, it's just setting up a time, place, and a way to identify each other. We are not sure what time we will be getting to the port so I would hate to be the contact person and not be there.

Alright still learning my disboard lingo... What is an FE? :rolleyes1

FE is a fish extender. There is a fish with your cabin number outside your door. People make these pocket organizers and hang them on it. Then an established group from the cruise drop off little presents. It's a lot of fun.

If you click on the link in my signature it will take you to the roll call. Inside the roll call is a link to Virginia's post about the FE and you will see everyone who is participating. She also has some links with good information. Hope this helps.

Hi Everybody! I meant to get on this thread ages ago but I had 5 brain procedures and a few other surgeries this year and just had a new grandson in NC so I've been living in a hotel for a month awaiting the birth last week. NOW I can think about other things.
My last cruise was on the Magic -- it was my second time. I went with my husband. Before I did the Wonder with my sister. Well I'm turning 60 this year and to make up for a lot of lousy things happening until last week we are celebrating by going to Disney for a week and then my sister is going to to the cruise with me and 2 days at Disney so I am a happy camper., I can't remember my room number.
i
I also would love to get caught up on things. The last cruise I arranged a meet and greet and got wristbands for everyone. I"m a little tired to do it all but can help someone with that project if you don't have it going - - wristbands are good identification of the group. I also would like to know what's going on with FE's as I would like to participate in that. I thought that was fun.

So - - I am a Disney fanatic - - been to Disneyland once and Disneyworld about 16 times in the last 10 years and this is the 3rd cruise. I cannot wait to see this ship. I hope to make some friends as well. I am very young at heart and so is my sister.

So - -let me know the scoop in a nutshell. Due to the brain stuff I just don't have the energy to go through all the former posts - - I wear out easily .
One thing I am doing tho -- health problems or not - - I'm doing that waterslide!!!! :thumbsup2
Knowing my sister - she might also. I know she hits the cove cafe often:surfweb:

Hope to hear from you. I will start checking in often now that I got started.

:welcome: aboard. Sounds like you had a pretty rough year. And Disney is the best cure. :dance3:

No need to try and catch up. In the roll call is a link to Virginia's thread on the FE if you want to participate.

This happened to us on the last cruise. We set up a time and place for a meet and DCL bus from AKL got us to the port right before the meet. We went to eat instead. We still were able to meet most of the folks during the cruise. We had a much smaller group then.

Okay I'm totally sucked into my computer trying to get thru all the info on here :)

Since I'm a DISBoard newbie, it says I don't have enough posts yet to send a PM.

SO FishExtender coordinator person, please officially put me, abcangie87, on the list :)

Me, DH, DD7 and DD3. We're from Kansas. I'm totally totally excited.:cheer2: oh and we are in room 9528.

I can tell that I will spend today wading thru the boards instead of cleaning my house or working. So much for productivity :rolleyes1

Are we supposed to fill out some sort of questionaire too? Do I post that on this thread or what?

Thanks for your patience. I'm really a pretty smart person most of the time :scared1:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2322713&page=19 follow this link & go to post 273 for the questionaire. Copy & paste is into a new reply and fill in your answers. It's fun to see where everyone is from & what they are interested in.

As far as productivity, put in a load of wash, come back to computer. Put wash in dryer, start a new load in washer, come back to computer. Put dinner in oven, come back to computer, etc, etc, etc.:lmao:

Hi All, myself, DH, DD (5) are on the Disney Dream in May, really looking forward to our first Disney Cruise!! I've been reading the posts over the last couple of weeks & thought I'd try joining!!

Thanks Chuck. One warning -- I am a total computer idiot. I wrote a message in the FE list but I don't know how to get on roll call. Is that a cut and paste thing? I love how organized this group is - - what fun! I'll catch on.

There is some really great info on the boards. It can become quite an obsession--but worth every minute!

1. Where do you live? Kansas, baby.

2. Are you married? 12 years this summer

3. Do you have any children? Two girls, ages 7 and 3

4. Do you have any pets? We have been begging (we being us girls) for a dog for-ev-er. I think I might have finally wore hubby down enough to get one this summer. I hope.

5. What do you do for a living? Work from home, do cakes/cupcakes/cookies...and mommy!

6. Did you always want to be a XXX? I always wanted to be a wife and mommy. The other stuff has just worked out in God's plan for us :)

7. What is your favorite movie? I am a movie nut, but my favorite is "Couples retreat" and "goonies"

8. What is your favorite book? I'm kind of a smutty romance novel junkie. Don't hate me.

9. What is/are your favorite TV show(s)?: Biggest Loser, Amazing Race, Survivor, Modern Family, Glee

10. What are your favorite foods? Tacos, crab legs, chocolate, and buttercream frosting. :)

11. Any particular cuisines or dishes that you like the most? see above.

15. How many siblings do you have? I've got a younger brother

16. What do you like to do in your spare time? I'm so random. I read, I bake, I scrapbook, I watch movies, I apparently spend too much time on teh computer...etc etc :)

17. Any interesting places that you've traveled to lately? Does iowa count?

18. What is your attitude when it comes to money? Are you a spender or a saver? We are pretty frugal 358 days/yaer, then those 7 days a year we are on our big vaca, we splurge!

23. What was your childhood like? Typical. I am/was a good girl.

24. How many Disney (or other cruises) have you been on? This will be our third Disney cruise.

25. How often have you been to Walt Disney World? Been to WDW six times I think. We became DVC owners in 2009, so I anticipate we'll go a lot more!

26. Post a picture of yourself -- I haven't figured that out yet, or not sure I can yet. But when I figure it out, I'll put one on here ;) For now we'll just pretend I'm skinny and gorgeous. :rotfl:

I just was booking a few things online today and I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions or fun tips on what to do on Castaway Cay?
I am super excited for this and cannot tell you how much I appreciate your help in advance!

Thanks so much!

Honestly? I like to park my butt on the beach with my kiddos, enjoy the gorgeousness, play..and eat the soft serve chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream about three different times :)

Honestly, most people just enjoy the beach and the slides. Snorkeling is always fun and you can rent the equipment there. If this is your first time, there is so much to see and do I doubt you will be lacking for something to do. I park my butt on a chair in the water and have a drink.

Do you have a map of castaway cay? This will help you get acclimated with the island.

:cheer2:Yay for me. I booked the Atlantis shallow water dolphin interaction a few weeks ago, but I was only able to get me in. When I tried to put us both in it said it wasn't available, so I booked it just for me and then booked the observer for my DH. I have been going in occasionally to check but nothing.......till today! The interaction was opened up again and I was able to get both of us booked. Yay!:cheer2:

Just proves that things can change fast on the DCL booking site. Perseverance really does pay off sometimes.

If I couldn't have gotten DH in as more than an observer, he probably would have been just as happy videotaping me. He said, now he has to wear a bathing suit. Poor baby. I told him they give us wetsuits for while we are in the water. He doesn't swim, which is why I picked the shallow water excursion in the first place.
