Disney Dream 29 June 2012

I will add you to the FE list...can you PM me your names of who will be participating and cabin #'s.

Then I will send you the link to the google document

Dawn

My wife and I just disembarked from The Wonder in LA, and booked this cruise on my iPad while waiting for the plane to take off. Bringing our kids this time-- DS 21 and DD 19. Our first cruise as an adult family, and our 8th DCL cruise since 2000!

We had originally booked 9 nights at SSR, and we are now shortening that down to 4 nights after this 5-night cruise. Looking forward to meeting y'all and sailing on this beautiful new ship for the first time!

Jerry aka: DVCNuts

Count us in for FE gifts!

I just added a few more friends to our FE list under AyshaO name. Just didn't want them to be overlooked :)

Dawn

Thanks Dawn!! I am always looking at our FB page and havent been on this page in awhile!. Thanks for updating it.

Those that are participating in the FE one question and one request. Someone in our group is requesting last names to personalize a FE gift, so if ok with that, please send me your last name to post on the google document. Even though I can see your last names on the FB page, I won't just assume you want your last name posted, so please let me know :)

Secondly...when should be our last day to stop taking more people into the group. I know some order gifts or purchase items, so we are down to 7 weeks before the trip. I was thinking like 4 weeks before? What are everyone's thoughts?

Lastly, I am not going to do a schedule for delivering your FE. Please just do it when you have some free time when on the cruise.

I have an a Navigator from match 24th. The order is diffent this one. It went Nassau, cc, Sea, then CC. The fireworks were on the First CC day. I just looked at our cruise summery and it say CC, Nassau, Sea and then CC. I am confused too. Not sure if it will be the same day or not.

Has anyone received their GTY cabins yet? Just curious.
Looks like the GTY cabins will be assigned about 13 days in advance of the cruise. I am in the same boat. Pun intended.

I just read a post on the Cruise Forum about a lack of programming for young adults 18-21.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2917655

Our kids are 19, 20 and 21. The 21-year old is not a drinker. I noticed that we have a few 18 year olds in our FE group. I know my kids would enjoy meeting some other college-aged adults. I can attest that they are friendly, and not trouble makers.

If you think your young adult might be interested in making some friends ahead of time, please feel free to PM me and I would be happy to provide contact info.

Hi :)

We are going on this cruise and I am looking for ideas for July 4th, since we get off the ship on the 4th. We live about 10 hours away and do not want to travel home on the 4th. I would love to hear anyone's plans/ideas. We live in NC so If we leave the port I would want to go in the direction of NC and not to far mabye a couple of hours at the most or we could always stay in Cocoa Beach for a night or two...Any suggestions would be great  I would love to hear your 4th of July plans as well. We have never been to Cocoa Beach so I am not sure what there is to do or if they have any 4th activites. I have also thought of St. Augustine??

Thanks in advance:banana:

This is our very first Disney cruise and we are SO EXCITED! I've heard that there are facebook groups for some cruises and fish extender sign ups. I don't know what a fish extender is, but I'm about to search the forum! I can hardly wait until we leave for this vacation! I'm an avid Scrabble player, so if anyone is up to play a game while at sea, please let me know!

Hello everyone! Another excited first time DCL cruiser joining in!

From reading pages 1-3, I see the excitement that has been brewing! I am very looking fwd to this cRuise with my family: DH and DS(5). No cabin assignment yet, so nothing to share about that yet! I found out about the DIS boards as I cancelled our DCL plans in late February 2012 and joined in shortly thereafter.

Yes, I said cancelled. My parents, brother and uncle were booked for a July 4 Dream cruise with us since Sept. 2011 (this was after not finding a room last year (because I was booking too late and too many of us!) and going to vacation at Atlantis instead). Around January 2012, my mom started getting cold feet. I kept hearing "reasons" why I should re-schedule the cruise for 2013. I felt that I had been waiting too long (and that's without the DIS boards- the anticipation was killing me) to cancel. My five year old (then four) was asking "when would he get to ride the aqua duck" and " when would he go on the Disney cruise" and " can he watch pelican plunge on YouTube". I thought that it would be unfair to him - especially that they were not valid reasons to cancel, in my mind.

DH said that he still wanted us to go, but it was up to me. So I cancelled them and kept our reservation, just kept their room, since it had a verandah. This mAde our price go up significantly, due to their room. DH was not to happy about this, and since vacation excitement is my thing, any cruise line/length/accommodations would have been fine w him (until he arrives, that is- then I get critiqued on my selections).

I wanted to pay a week in advance, and DHwas definitely not happy w the price per day! I desperately looked around online, and then found a VGT for this June 29 cruise! It was perfect! one extra day for 1200 less...couldn't ask for more!

There is other thing : I never told my folks that I didn't cancel! It will be a surprise to them as well as my son. He knows that we are going, but the "when" will be revealed on the 29th!

Now I've got to read the rest of this exciting thread!:hourglass

BTW - I still have the old ticker! It took so long to figure out how to post that I haven't created a new one! Shame on me!

We are surprising our son too!!! I cannot stop thinking about driving over the bridge before the port and seeing the Dream!!! He is going to loose his mind!!! I told him we couldn't talk his dad into a cruise. Well, that was true at the time. Come join us at FB.

Got our GTY room number: 10012 :cool1:

Exciting! I am waiting for our VGT room number but I think its gonna be a few more weeks... I can't believe they still have VGT rooms available (as of yesterday anyway!!!) for the same price! I am thinking this cruise is not going to be very full??

Yes, I know...wishful thinking!! :rolleyes1

We are suprising our DD6 as well. I cannot wait to see her face when we pull up to the port:yay: Whenever she sees the ship on a commercial she will say I wish we could do that one day......I always say mabye one day but It cost so much:) She is going to be soooo happy:banana: I love suprises!!

This is our families first cruise ever :cheer2: I am soo excited!!!!!!

I hadn't given the "surprise" much thought, until now that I read your posts! I saw some YouTube Disney & Disney cruise surprises and WoW - some parents really put a lot into the "reveal"! I was just thinking of driving close enough for him to see it (?). Now after seeing the YouTube videos, it doesn't seem as exiting as I had imagined all of these months!

What are you guys going to do? Your DD is about as old as my DS, I love surprising him, also :woohoo:

SkyW, how old is your DS?

It's getting close...June is right around the corner!!! :dance3:

Also, this is our first "family" cruise, because My mother , one brother , uncle , & son semi-surprised* my dad with a fathers day cruise summer of 2010 aboard Liberty of the seas. DS doesn't remember (although he had fun) & DH couldn't go, so it will be very special for us and hopefully very memorable :goodvibes

*semi surprised because he had to get over his fear of the ocean :scared: within one month prior to sailing (that's when we told him)!

My son is 8. I have no idea of how to do the surprise him. I thought just seeing it would do. Guess I need to do some Mom research.

I have been trying to figure out the best way to do the suprise for our DD6. I have been searching the internet for ideas. One of my ideas was to schedule the call from Mickey around the time we would be getting really close to the port and tell her the phone is for her and then an few sec/mins later she would see the ship. We would really have to have our timing right for this one;) Our DD6 wants to go on a Disney Cruise so bad I think just seeing the ship would make her scream with excitment..(At least I hope so:yay:)

I will probaly keep searching the internet & DIS Boards every night until we leave for more ideas
