Disney Dream 12th January 2012

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

This is not only our first Disney cruise, but it's our first cruise ever! We are so excited. A year seems like a long time but I'm sure it'll be here before we know it! My 11 year old daughter is an only child and I'm a little worried that she'll be bored just hanging out with me. She's pretty friendly and outgoing though so I'm hoping that she'll make some new friends. If anyone has any good tips or anything for us, please feel free to let me know. Thanks!!

We will be on our first Disney Cruise as well. Kids 20,15, 13 an 10 at the time. Hoping to make friends on board!

So excited to finally have some company on this thread! I'm really looking forward to the cruise on the Dream, even more so after watching the christening today. So do you plan to do any extra days at Disney before or after? I think we're going to do two days after the cruise. Welcome to thread and looking forward to more DISers as well!

We are thinking of going to WDW for 2-3 days prior to the cruise. We can't wait! The video just came in the mail today, the kids are very excited!!

We are in the early planning stages of booking the cruise. It will be a large family gathering to celebrate the first Disney trip for our soon-to-be newborn!!

My wife is on the Dream as we speak with my parents and younger sister. They called me as soon as they boarded the ship and told me to start planning!! They said the ship is fantastic! Cant wait!!!

You'll have to give an update on how their cruise turned out. I'd love to hear it! And congrats on the baby (and next year's Dream cruise!)! :yay:

Joining!! We haven't confirmed our reservation yet, but hope to get that taken care of in the next few days. This is our first cruise of any sort. I am so excited!

DH - 36
Me - 40
DD - 4

We are planning on a 4-5 day WDW stay before the cruise as well. Unfortunately, reservations for WDW won't open up til sometime this summer so I will only be able to obsess over the cruise portion of our vacation for the next few months. There's so much to figure out and it's pretty overwhelming. I have no idea how the dining and show times work...early vs late?? Huh??

We are DL AP holders! DH and I have been to WDW back in 2005 before DD.

Hello, everyone! Just booked this cruise (doing a B2B with the 1/8 departure). I've been on one cruise so far (Disney Wonder last October), but this will technically be my 4th by the time it happens. #2 will be the westbound transatlantic this September (wow, 2 weeks of pampering! :yay:). Then the B2B will be #3 & #4. I think I'm addicted!

Just made my reservation and paid my deposit! I guess we are really going. I am so excited! Yay!

We're going too! This will be our first Disney cruise although we've cruised before on other lines. I am going to try and surprise my kids the week of the cruise. I am taking my mom on this cruise along with DD15 and twin DS 12. Husband says he can't get away in January, but we'll see as it gets closer. We are also booked at the BC for two days after the cruise. We are whisking away DD as soon as finals end. What a nice way to end a challenging week!! Plus it's my mom's 66th birthday and my DD sweet sixteen.

I can't wait to go. I'm trying to keep it a secret from DS (7) and DD (5), but both can read and I'm always on these boards!

This will be my first cruise ever, and of course it has to be Disney. :cheer2:
We booked the 3 day cruise because we weren't sure about sea sickness... But since it is my 60th birthday (and all my BIG birthdays must be Disney), this seemed the logical choice. My sisters and friends will be with me, so it will be fun, I know!!!:dance3:
Would like to know how the dinners work. Do yo have to eat at the deisgnated restaurants on designated days? Can you eat at any restaurant?

First of all ronniek: :welcome:

Disney does what is called rotational dining. Each night you are scheduled to eat in one of the three restaurants and your servers and waitstaff will rotate with you. When you get on board there is a place where you can check to see what order you will eat at each restaurant. There are other options as well-Palo and Remy are adult only choices. They do cost extra (as they are not included in your cruise fare) and you have to make reservations. I can't say anything about Remy, but DH and I did Palo and loved it when we were on the Wonder.

I know others on this thread have more cruising experience, and they can help you as well. Congratulations on your birthday trip!:yay:

thanks for the info. we are so excited.:yay: been to wdw many times but this is all new, and we are a bit nervous.
so we are appreciative of any tips or hints that we can get. we are staying over night in port canaveral pre-cruise, to get the lay of the land. renting a car from airport, and leaving it at the hotel and taking a shuttle to terminal. hope that is a smart thing to do. :goodvibes
so thanks again!
