Disney Dream 12/29/2011

Are any of you planning on booking Remy or Palo? I'm trying to plan anything we need to book as our 90 days out is getting close. Just wondering. :)
I'm sure both but with what frequency I have no idea.
I am also wondering how dressed up everyone is planning on getting for New Year's Eve. Any plans yet?
New Years Eve is casual for us. Shorts, sandals, out on the open deck enjoying the atmosphere.

We are casual as well. We're the grandparents. Not yet sure what the parents have in mind but I'm sure I'm watching the children. GD age 8.11 by time of cruise. GS age 4. Lots of fun. Here's hoping we have good weather. :goodvibes

Greetings All, (From P.leilani AKA PrincessandtheMommy)

Been a while from the last time I checked in, So thought I'd swing by to say hello. I cant believe how fast time has flown... We are less than 6mo away from our trip. So here are a few random thoughts and info

It was almost this time last year when DD4 and myself were preparing to go on our first DCL trip (Breezin to the Bahamas 9/2010). And we are so ready to do it again....

On our 1st trip the water was a bit rough for us to dock at CC so we missed it, glad we have 2 chances this year.

Anyone know how the weather generally is in December. I am starting to mentally pack?:scared1:

This trip will be very special, DD will turn 5 on the 29th, The 1st New Years DD for the Dream, our 1st full family vacation.....AND the best part we will be spending it with you all:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I noticed there is another family coming from Ann Arbor MI, we are coming from Metro Detroit area.... Depending when you are departing and arriving we may be able to split transportation...:confused3:confused3:confused3

As far as New Years Eve attire... I think we are going to go all out with Sparkle and Shine, it is DF (fiancee) DD and I first family trip his 1st cruise, now that I think about it our 1st New Years eve together in 7 years...hmmm:eek: So think I am going to look for a sparkle cocktail dress!!!

So excited about decorating the room for DD birthday, as well as late Christmas... Oh boy sounds like I will be over packing...:rolleyes1

I am so not a DCL expert, but if anyone has any questions feel free to ask, and I can share my bit of knowledge from my previous trip (traveling with a 3 year old, the kids clubs, flights, Pre and Post trips, FE hanging bags, FE gifts etc, how much fun it is running around the ship handing out your FE gifts lol:eek: and so on...again not an expert...but feel free to ask.) I am going to make it check in here more often.

Well that is if for now.... Sending a little Pixie Dust from Michigan..:tinker:

I got as far as realizing that I need to have this cruise paid off by September 15th so I can book Palo, even though final payment isn't actually due until October. We're definitely planning on brunch and/or dinner. And a pedicure. And a chocolate martini. Beyond that, no plans. Just relaxing with friends on a tropical beach. Twice :)

Guess who is adding beer tasting, scotch tasting, martini tasting. . . .Let the corrupting of the son in law begin.

This is our 4th NYE Cruise . . . but first time on the Dream.

As for NYE attire, it ranges widely . . Everything is welcome. Some dress up in suit and tie, formal gowns, etc. Others wear shorts and flip flops. We kinda meet in the middle, and wear a tuxedo with flip flops. JK, we wear pants, shirt and tie, but not a full suit.

All 3 previous times, they have offered fairly large Lobster Tails on the NYE menu at the regular restaurants, and so we have never even tried to book Palo for NYE dinner. We love the lobster tails in the rotating dining on that night.

NYE deck party is also mixed attire . . although I drink a TON of the free champagne hahaha, so I barely recall. I just remember that Theo and I danced as if we knew how!

We have been to the Bahamas a ga-biz-illion times and after a while it gets to be old hat, so Theo and I may stay on the ship, and enjoy that there slippy slide water ride while at port. But if I don't get going on this diet, I may get stuck in the slide tunnel lol.

We can't wait until DISNEY . . . and look forward to meeting everyone. As a matter of fact, Theo and I are throwing a HUGE welcome aboard buffet for everyone to enjoy .. . .feel free to eat all you can hahahaa.

Haven't been on in ages. Will be sailing with you all. Me and my dd (3). This is my first cruise and hope the weather is great! Just booked air so now it's for real!

It's official. We cancelled this cruise - sons would have all missed the first 2 days of a new term if we kept it, and none of them wanted to miss so early into a new term. :guilty:

P.Leilani -

I remember two years ago on the Magic NYE cruise we were passing by Miami around midnite and it was very windy on deck and a tad chilly. If your sparkly cocktail dress is sleeveless, I'd bring a wrap with you.

Or drink enough of the free champagne that you won't even feel the chill. :)

LMBO...I will remember to tell the CM... I don't have a wrap to match my sparkly dress but the bubbles in the champagne glass complement my dress perfectly so keep the bubbly coming. :Lol. KuyaRome- I'v read several of your post and I see you have a fun lovable sense of humor. I see know you will keep this group livey and fun. Can't wait to party with you. I have a feeling you are the life of the party. :rolleyes1

When do we start with payment dates and advance ressies? That should be coming up shortly.

New cruisers are 75 days out.
Silver CC members are 90 days??
Gold CC members 105 days??
Platinum CC members 120 days??

I'm still on the fence about Palo. I'd like to go but I want to experience all of the dining rooms. Maybe we'll just do brunch. Will they have brunch? I forgot this is a shorter cruise.

What is everyone else planning? Excursions? Spa treatments? I'd like to splurge on a cabana but I don't think that will happen with the few available.

This is our first family cruise for us. How do you sign up for the fishextender?

Hi all. Time is winding down. Just addedn another day to trip. So we will be arriving at WDW on 12/23. I don't think I will be making any ressies for Palo since I am the only adult. My grandson (4) and son (11) will probably be MIA most of the time so I will be on my own. I will keep my son up on NYE so we can ring in the NY and his 12th birthday at the same time. Grandson will be asleep in a chair. :lmao:

I don't think we will be getting off the boat in Nassau. I hope the weather is great at CC on both docking days.:worship:

See everyone soon.

Ah, there you are! Glad to see you join roll call.

Oh Wendy...I'm sorry to hear this. I was really looking forward to meeting a fellow Disney cruiser close to home. First Denise, now you...next it will be Goofy's_Gal, just kidding. I totally understand. School has a way of changing plans now and then. Our middle schooler will miss 2 days but luckily our high school is out that week. Hope to meet some day.

Welcome aboard Gater! I've added you to roll call and to the FE. Feel free to add some details, or not, about you and your family :-) I have 2 daughters that are always curious about whether or not there are kids their ages going on this cruise.

Well, school has started and I am busy trying to catch up on a lot of things and getting no where fast. I'm starting an internet based business and waiting for for the programmer to finish the program. In the mean time, I am building the page contents and patiently waiting for a landing page so I can announce our website. It is so easy to get distracted as my mind is going in many directions. I thought we were going to have the website up and running by 9/1....I don't have the landing page yet, so I don't know when we are going to launch. I've gone from 9/1/2011 to Fall 2011. Hopefully, I won't be changing that to Winter 2012!

Anyway, l am certainly looking forward to this cruise. I've changed our youngest daughter's flight so that she will come out early with me so maybe I will sneak in a day or two at the parks while we are there. Once Christmas break starts, I probably wont do a park. Looked at the pricing for MVMCP and don't know that I'll be able to do that for the 4 of us. The 18th is the only day we would be able to go as a family.

Anyhow, we will probably be pretty casual for the New Years party. If it's formal night, might keep those clothes on as we have late dining any way.

We are not telling our daughter that w are all going on the cruise. Does anyone have any good ideas how to surprise her. Our daughter is Lauren she is 10 years old but will be 11 when we cruise. She started 5th grade this week. Since this is our first crusie I will take any tips or ideas. We are a huge Disney Family. My husband and I got married at Disney World 14 years ago. Can wait to meet everyone.

Hi Gater. Our daughter is 10, her name is Laura, she started 5th grade last week and will turn 11 just before we cruise! That is AWESOME.

I can't tell you how to surprise her because I can't keep a secret like that, lol. However, for our girls' first cruise, we had a sand pail basket waiting for them in the stateroom when we arrived. It was awesome. Here is a thread that talks about Shirley's baskets: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1723220&page=24 Jump to the last page of that thread and there are recent photos of her sand pail baskets and the joy of the children receiving them!

Here's a thread on how some have surprised their kids: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1898625&page=2

I'm sure there are other threads on this also. There are threads up here covering oh so many topics. If you have any questions, an answer can be found.

Seeing that the cruise happens just after Christmas, you could wrap up the promotional DVD and put it in her stocking. Whether you tell her before or after watching it, you'd know best. Our kids were younger their first time - we bought a Cinderella Castle Hallmark ornament and wrapped up the tickets for WDW.

Thanks for the idea! I just can't wait for the curise and ready to party the New Year in!

We just booked this cruise today!:banana:

I'm Lauren and coming with me will be DH, James, and DD, Lorelei (2). We're from West Virginia. The only thing left was a Category 5GTY. We've never done GTY before and I hope I can stand it not knowing what room we're in, but I'm just excited that we were able to get the vacation days for this trip.

We're getting ready to go on the WBTA so all my planning efforts are being focused on that right now. Once we get back I'll have to get all sorts of planning done for this trip. Can't wait to get to know you all. :goodvibes
