Disney Dream 12/29/2011

Planning on driving down from MD since I can't find a decent air fare.

Just checked and Southwest has a $133 fare on 12/28 from Baltimore. That's pretty good and a lot quicker than an 18 hour drive. You should be able to get the return flight for $89 or less.

And no parking charges at the port!

My wife Melissa and I will be on this one as well.

We're actually doing back-to-backs with this cruise and the one after, so we will be on the Dream for 10 nights over 2 cruises including New Years Eve.

For this cruise we will be in an 04D and moving to an 00T for the next one.

We arrive into MCO on 12/26/11 and are staying 3 nights at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando before driving out to the port on 12/29.

Oh, we're from Ann Arbor Michigan. Go Blue!

Anyone looking to book this cruise, there's now some openings in 11 A-B-C, as well as 10 A. Didn't look any higher, as I was amazed some "cheap seats" were available. The next cruise (Jan 3) is SOLD OUT as of right now.

I am craving the spare ribs from The Flame Tree barbeque in Animal Kingdom!!!! Or a burger from the Big River Brewery at the Boardwalk.

Gosh . . . this diet is killing me . I crave good food.

Right about now, I would even be happy with the Cruise room service - the quesadilla salad is pretty good haha.

Somebody get me a Creme Brulee

Are we there yet?

DH, DD and I did a B2B on the Dream in April and had a wonderful time (Spring Break- full ship).

Our wedding anniversary is Dec. 28- we had our honeymoon at WDW, so we decided to make Disney a part of this celebration as well :yay:!

DD (11) is pretty sure it's against the law to take a Disney cruise without a kid, but is okay with it because she gets to go and spend the week with her cousins where there is real winter (little does the Georgia kid know about Wisconsin winters!!!!:rotfl:). We'll be on the Wonder in April 2012, so I think she will survive the injustice of it all!

See you on the Dream!!!!

(Oh- I guess I have to update our ticker!)

For anyone who loves coffee and has been on the Disney Dream:

We have done the NYE Cruise on the Wonder for several years in a row now. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the cruise and although it is quite pricey compared to other times, we enjoy the NYE cruise the best (partially because we got engaged on the wonder on New Year's just after midnight).

Here is my only complaint about the cruise:

No Real Brewed Coffe :( I am a starubucks guy. I literally go every single day, as I like fresh brewed strong coffee. However, it seemed that on the Wonder you can't get a real cup of coffee anywhere. The coffee they serve appears to be that "syrup based" stuff that many places use to server large groups easily.

I just don't like that coffee.

I was very happy and excited when they opened the Coffee Bar on the Wonder (Cafe Cove or something??) So last NYE cruise, I went up there very excitedly and ordered myself a large coffee.

Guess what? I was shocked at the response I got: "We don't have coffee here, only the specialty drinks". Sure, they had mocha latta chino frappe coolatta's and all that stuff. . . but you still can't get a simple cup of coffee.

So he made me a double expresso and added hot water . . sigh :( not at all what I was looking for.

How about the Dream?? Anywhere they offer fresh brewed coffee?

(Please don't say at breakfast you can get coffee lol . . . That may be coffee for some people, but a true Coffee Lover will understand what I am trying to say)

I don't drink coffee (except for the very occasional cappucino after a good meal) so I've never been aggrieved by this situation but I know my friend Tracy and her husband -- who are from Seattle, no less -- complained about it on the last cruise (we happened to take two together, which is how we met, and she'll be on this one as well; must get her to sign up here!).

I will ask how they handle the situation or what advice they can offer.

I do like the Chai Latte in the Cove Cafe, however. I heard it was good and waited until the last night to go get one because I was afraid I would be in there every single day otherwise!!!

Hi Tiffany and welcome aboard! I've added you to roll call also. I went back through the posts and now remember you signing on. You can start sending pm's when you have reached 10 posts so a couple of replies up here should do it for you. Where are you getting married?

Linda

I am getting married in Houston on the 28th, we are flying out to Florida the morning of the cruise! :-)

Just back from Florida. The weather was great if you like heat and humidity! I didn't mind too much. I was where I love to be. Any hoo....

Linda,
I haven't been on the thread in a while. I need to let you know we will not be on this cruise anymore. :sad1: We switched to an Alaska cruise. After going on the Repo in April we decided, as a family, to switch. It was a difficult discussion to make, but Alaska won out. We will be leaving people we know on this cruise, which is sad, but we were able to join good friends for the Alaska one.

I know you and everyone will all have so much fun on the Dream. Someday we will meet. Tell your husband we said hi.
denise

Denise, I am really bummed about this. You will love Alaska though. We will meet someday... Mike says Hi as well. Thank you so much for your work on the logo...it is awesome and will be using it if you don't mind :lovestruc

Hi Linda,

I PM'd you with additional information for the roll call but I don't see my info. Please let me know if you didn't get it and I'll resend.

Thanks!

Hi Laurie! Thanks for keeping me in line! I did get the PM and immediately forgot about it. You are updated now ;) My daughter is 15 also. She is known as Tink*Girl if your daughter would like to get in touch with her.

Ok here we go . . .

Tomorrow, (July 5) begins my OFFICIAL DISNEY NYE CRUISE DIET lol!

Time to get down to business so that I can eat 24 hours a day and have fun. Vacations are for letting go and now worrying . . so you will always have a munching buddy - cause we LOVE FOOD !!!

Oh yea . . . and we LOVE the free champagne at the NYE party too hahaha . . anyone ready to DANCE the night away?

lol...I need to start mine tomorrow too!

We are also on this cruise pacurn 50something DH, DD19 DD25 and DSIL 28. Planning on driving down from MD since I can't find a decent air fare.

Welcome aboard pacurn! I've added you to roll call. Airfare has not been nice. I'm flying in earlier than my family so I can use my points. I don't think there will be many bargain fares this coming holiday season.

My wife Melissa and I will be on this one as well.

Welcome aboard! Another B2B...one day I will be able to do a b2b! :cloud9:

We'll be B2Bing with you!

I've added B2B'ers to the list on the Roll Call. If anyone else is doing a B2B on this cruise, let me know and I will put you on the list.

Welcome aboard! Yep, our girls think the same thing. I think they would disown us! We are on the April 1 Mexican Riviera with you! Can't wait to get a head start and meet up!

-----

Let me know if I missed anything on roll call. School starts here in 2 weeks. It's been a very busy summer for us. We are usually home bodies, but this year lots of commitments. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Linda

Hi, fellow cruisers!

Are any of you planning on booking Remy or Palo? I'm trying to plan anything we need to book as our 90 days out is getting close. Just wondering. :)

I am also wondering how dressed up everyone is planning on getting for New Year's Eve. Any plans yet?

I got as far as realizing that I need to have this cruise paid off by September 15th so I can book Palo, even though final payment isn't actually due until October. We're definitely planning on brunch and/or dinner. And a pedicure. And a chocolate martini. Beyond that, no plans. Just relaxing with friends on a tropical beach. Twice :)
