Disney Dragons August 2024 Exercise Challenge

75 minutes at the gym last night. Meeting with my trainer is the highlight of my week, y'all. If you ever find yourself coming back from major illness or injury, I highly recommend a functional fitness specialist. It definitely feels silly to go from running marathons to learning how to properly carry groceries, but it's amazingly rewarding.

The team stands at 3,584 minutes and 42%, and our next Disney Dragon is Maleficent ~

Here are some Maleficent trivia highlights, both from the original Sleeping Beauty and the later live-action Maleficent spinoff:
  • Eleanor Audley, who voiced the animated Maleficent all those years ago, has a history with Disney. She also voiced Lady Tremaine (the Evil Stepmother) in “Cinderella” and Madame Leota in the Haunted Mansion.
  • While never mentioned in the film “Sleeping Beauty,” Maleficent’s trusty raven’s name is Diablo.
  • With the release of the live-action film, Maleficent is the first Disney Villain to have a film based solely on them.
  • When filming “Maleficent,” Disney needed a child to play young Aurora, but all of the three and four-year-old performers wouldn’t come near Jolie in costume. They ended up choosing Jolie’s daughter Vivienne because she was the only one not scared of her.

And if you're a big fan, you can even build her in Lego form:

69 minutes at the gym yesterday. I'm using my Fitbit's idea of the time, not how long I was actually there. I got caught up chatting and want to be honest. More honesty: trainer wants me to start doing 10 minutes of stretching every morning, which seems like a really simple ask but - ugh! mornings are not my "most likely to be defiant" time. Do I want to be a person who gets up and does something good for my body? Yes. Do I want to wake up and sit on the couch reading Disney news? Stronger Yes. :P we'll see what happens...

300 minutes since last check in - horses and light strength training

I took a pause from running because I was attacked by ants at the barn. I had over 60 bites and had a really bad reaction, so I rested as much as I could for a few days to give my system a chance to calm down. I'm better now and might start that back tomorrow.
