Do I need a reservation to get lunch in downtown Disney, or do you think we'll be able to walk up somewhere for lunch?

Hello Julie!

We've eaten at RainForest, T-Rex, and Planet HollyWood and have never made a reservation before. Usually we go for lunch at about the 1PM - 2PM range and check-in at that time ... sometimes we get lucky and they take us right in and sometimes we have to wait about 10 to 15 minutes. Maybe we've just been perpetually lucky but I doubt that. I'd say maximum wait time for us was 30 minutes ... but even that isn't bad.

Now if you're referring to Fultons or Raglan Road I cannot afford you any info on those because we've never been ... however, when in doubt call! Better to have the reservation and NOT need it then to just show up and be shut out. Remember also that I am talking about when I go which would be in late April to early May ... depending on what we have to do to avoid the Spring Break melee.

I hope I helped you!! If you have further questions PLEASE do NOT hesitate to ask!!!

If it is Rain Forest or T Rex at lunch is possible to wait and get in or can join their safari club (which is pay for it once and is good forever with discounts/free appetizers etc) and get in sooner. There are also several places that are considered counter service that you can get into at lunch times. In the evening would be sure had reservations anywhere that was a table service meal:worship:

I find Downtown Disney during the day is the best time to go if you want a quick bite. When we stayed offsite the night before our reservations, we chose to go by DTD when the stores opened. (9 am). I personally don't find that many locals frequent DTD because of the large tourist population. A Lunch table should be fairly easy to obtain if you go around the general lunch time. Places such as Wolfgang Puck Express, Bongos, House of Blues, Planet Hollywood open up around 11 am for lunch. The Marketplace restaurants open at 9 am.

Darn...now all that is going through my head is that dang "Imagination..." song/tune, lol.(love that Figment!). Tune Could be worse~~It's a Small World...

To the original poster~eating lunch will definitely be easier at DTD than dinner. But, I think much is dependent on WHEN you are going. Didn't see a date range for you.

It seems like Raglan Rd is easy to get a walk up too as well as earl of sandwich, cookes etc if you are looking for something quicker

I don't know if Earl of Sandwich would be quicker than a sit down.

We stopped by for lunch and the line was out the door. I don't know how quickly the line moved because we didn't want to wait. We were just wanting some thing quick before starting our 17 hour trip home and needed to get moving.

We went to T-Rex for lunch around 1pm on a Thursday in April and the place was empty. No problems :thumbsup2

We were pretty pleased with the pace of the line. They have a person in the line that answers any questions you have, so by the time you get to the front you just order and move along. I really like this because there's no hold up at the ordering station.

Yea there was someone handing out menus at the start of the line. We came in and was like wow what a line. The person was like yea its a big line.

We really weren't ready for lunch and would have probably gotten them to go but we just didn't want to start our trip with a line.

Also we were already behind my schedule on when I wanted to leave WDW. We were staying over night in VA and as it stood we were looking at getting there around 10:30 and that was really not stopping to eat just getting to go and eating in the car.

Thanks! We are going in late April. I really want one day of "unscheduled" activities but don't want to get stuck with chicken fingers either.

Wolfgang Pucks is great for a good counter service meal. I love their spaghetti and meatballs.

Since you're going in April there should be no problem. My mother and I were at Disney back in April of this year. On the day we arrived we headed to DTD after checking into our hotel (Room wasn't ready). It was a Friday, around 11 am. DTD was empty.

You could take the boat over to Saratoga and eat at the Turf Club (very yummy), or OKW for Olivia's or even up to Riverside.

Otherwise, I vote for Pizza at Wolfgang's Express.
