Disney done differently, (BOG dining updates pages 202 and 203)

Since we had the afternoon free, I made a resie for Biergarten. We were seated right at the stage area, on the lowest level! Anakain navigated the steps down, slowly. But he did really great! A huge improvement just from March to now.

The lunch buffet is $25.99 for adults and $13.99 for kids.

We arrived just before noon. Our ADR was for 12:20pm. To pass the time away, Anakin and Goofy played with Anakin's new light toys. They tried to make a Mickey head.

Anakin got a new button to wear today.

100_3396.jpg

I tried something new for me today, the salmon salad. It was very good!

100_3397.jpg

The restaurant was pretty empty! I was able to get pics of the whole buffet!

Anakin being silly

100_3424.jpg

Anakin loves to dance. When they called for people to grab a partner and go on the dance floor, he begged and pleaded for me to go out there with him. I don't know how to polka!!! He doesn't know how to polka!! Yet, there we were, the 2 of us, and only the two of us, on that big dance floor. I was never so thankful that the restaurant was not full!! I had to have been a zillion shades of red. But he was so happy and had the time of his life. He said it was the best day ever. Could this day get better? It did. Details to come...

We went to Biergarten in September; unfortunately, were very unhappy with the food, but that chocolate cake in your dessert pictures was to die for.

I'm glad you an Anakin got up and danced. His smile when he is being silly just radiates the good time he was having.

I noticed I missed part of the buffet. But that's the part I don't like. The salmon in some kind of white sauce and the meat balls, YUCK!!!

I know what I like and stick to just that. But I was adventurous with the salmon salad, lol.

Service has always disappeared, usually around the time our drinks need refilled. But we are use to that.

For some reason our server was very stingy with the straws. Wonder if they are trying to save money by not using straws?

A mental picture of you & Anakin polka dancing put a smile on my face this morning! Glad you guys had fun.

Biergarten is on my "to avoid" list for our trip. My boys hate dancing, and can't stand music most of the time. As a matter of fact, I just got in "trouble" for absent mindedly whistling a tune. So an oompa band during lunch would be just about the worst thing ever for us!

I just cancelled Coral Reef for Beirgarten for lunch ADR, thanks for the pics!!!!

I hope you are not disappointed! We didn't see much of our server. We did have to ask for refills and straws. The show starts at 1:15, our ADR was for 12:20, but we arrived early and they seated us at noon. So we took our time eating to wait for the show. I'm not sure if the shows are hourly or not?

I highly recommend the chicken spatzle, though sometimes it is pork spatzle. I smother it in hunter's gravy...YUM!!! The meatballs are just ok, nothing special. The green beans and herbed potatoes are pretty good. The cheesecake is sooooo good!!

You will be seated at a community table that seats 8. I hope you have great table mates. Ours were very quiet until their Octoberfest liter beers kicked in, lol! Biggest mug of beer I've ever seen!!

The price is definately more reasonable than Coral Reef, and includes your beverage of soda or juice. It's all you can eat, so you won't leave hungry!

I'm glad it made you smile. Every time I think about it, I laugh!

I can understand that about the music! Anakin was like that at Voices of Liberty, where we went after Biergarten. He wore his ear muffs! But he loves music and dancing. More to come about Voices of Liberty, and the magic due to rain, rain, rain, that came down, down, down.

Anakin is fascinated with patterns!! He loves them. Whether it's in his math assignments or patterns on floors. They intrigue and entice him. We walked into the American pavillion to see the Voices of Liberty and right away we lost him. He bolted faster than you can imagine and ran around the pattern. There were circles and stars. He was completely unaware of anything else, or anyone else, in that room. Goofy had to go get him and explain how he could run into someone or trip over the people sitting on the floor. We sat down. Within seconds a CM came up to us and asked us to move to another spot. We complied. Moving to another spot was very confusing for Anakin. Before the singing began, I got out his ear muffs for him.

All week he had been singing Yankee Doodle. I forgot they sang it here! He was so excited he could barely stay seated on the floor when they began singing. The intro into Frances Scott Key's America song, had tears welling up in Anakin's eyes. I noticed he was a bit emotional during the song, once he understood what the words were about.

100_3437.jpg

100_3435.jpg

After their singing, they greeted the audience. Anakin was thrilled when the soprano who hit all the highest notes came up to him! She asked if she was too loud for him. He said, "YES!" She said it looked like he enjoyed the show and it was so nice to see him smiling and moving his head to the music.

Coming up next, magic in the rain!

Thanks for all the details!!! Our adr is for 1:35pm so we will probably get there during the show or if we get there early we might see the start. I have never seen the show so I am excited. I didn't even know they had a show!!

As for food selection, we are not too insane picky and I really like buffets because I can get a little of everything. I also like buffets for the value too. The price is usually more than 1 plate but I can get dinner, app, dessert and possibly a drink too.

We both love German food, I know it won't be the same as our local German place but we love the style. AND THE BEER!! Dbf is looking forward to this!!

If the shows are hourly then you'll see one around 2:15. Your server will know the show times.

We don't drink beer, but I noticed that Disney's menu site had the drink menu posted. I think that liter beer was $12.50.

When we left Germany and headed clockwise, he sun was shining and it was becoming very hot.

100_3430.jpg

100_3431.jpg

Watched the Fife and Drums.

100_3432.jpg

100_3434.jpg

Our next stop after the American Pavillion was Japan. Goofy and Anakin went to the Kidcot Stop while I zipped over to Morrocco, then back to Japan. In that little bit of time the sky became ominous looking.

100_3438.jpg

I stopped to watch the candy lady

100_3439.jpg

100_3442.jpg

Then met back up with Anakin and Goofy.

We decided it was time to try to head to the car, if we could make it before the rain came. We got to France and it started to drizzle, we sped up. We got to UK, and it was a good steady rain. We no sooner ducked into the 2nd set of stores and it was a full downpour!!

We headed back to the kidcot stop, and that's where the magic began...

100_3445.jpg

It rained cats and dogs while we were in that store!! So much so that it flooded at places around the World Showcase! Water started to come in one of the doors, so they ended up shutting the door to keep the water out. This storm lasted a long time. We spent over 2 hours in the store. You would think it would be very trying to entertain Anakin for 2 hours in a store, but that wasn't the case.

100_3457.jpg

100_3456.jpg

100_3458.jpg

He began by drawing at the kidcot stop.

100_3462.jpg

100_3443.jpg

Then Tigger stopped by.

100_3448.jpg

He made his own Duffy

100_3453.jpg

There was a very loud thunder and both Pooh and Tigger got frightened!

100_3460.jpg

100_3461.jpg

Tigger said goodbye to everyone, and left with a giant umbrella.

Anakin switched from coloring to playing with Goofy's blackberry.

100_3465.jpg

Cast Members opened up the meet and greet to allow children to sit and color

100_3464.jpg

Anakin got tired of brick breaker and started pin trading.

100_3466.jpg

After about 2 hours the lightning stopped. It was still raining. We decided to get wet and head home, since it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon.

100_3467.jpg

100_3472.jpg

And we made it to the car.

100_3476.jpg

Anakin, while soaking wet, still declared this was the best day ever!!

I know I already told you but I just LOVE that day at Epcot! You made lemonade out of not being able to do OT and what a delicious drink it was! The Biergarten looked like fun, my tree guys would have loved that food...us three girls...not so much! But THEY would have loved the dancing, I wish I could have seen a picture or video of that!!!!!

It was a delicious drink!!

It was fun. I love vinegar, so the red cabbage and hot potato salad were right down my alley!

I can give you a frightening mental picture of the dancing. Even though my mom taught me to polka when I was little, I couldn't remember. So I drew my inspiration from Jim Carrey in Mr. Popper's Penguins, ROFL!! I did step ball change around the floor. Muahaha!!! I'm sure it was a sight for sore eyes!

Benjamin used to have those little finger flashlight things...I think they've all been lost by now, but man, he loved them!

You and Anakin polka-ing...what an awesome memory for him!! :goodvibes

Sounds like you guys managed to have an awesome day, rain or not (And MAN, what a lot of rain!!) I love Tigger and Pooh being comforted because of the storm - too cute.

It brought a huge smile to my face to hear that Anakin declared it the best day ever. :goodvibes

He watched alot of Phinneas and Ferb, lol!

Did you find those finger lights to be super bright? They hurt my eyes! But oh, he loves them!

It may be an awesome memory for him, but it's becoming a Nightmare Fantasmic for me, rofl!!

I really need to learn how to polka. Just wait 'til August when we eat there. I put down that it's our Anniversary, it will be 20 years on Aug 10. They will probably make Goofy and I go to the dance floor. And he dances less than me. I'd rather have a cupcake though, tehe!

Snakes, why does it always have to be snakes?

Anakin and I were having a wonderful afternoon by the pool. He was showing me all the strokes he is learning at his swimming lessons. Grumpy came outside and they began to catch lizards. We had seen 3 in the pool area the day before.

As Grumpy was trying to catch the biggest one, he had a surprise. A snake. If you like snakes this one is actually a beautiful snake. It was a full grown ring neck. About a foot long. (Usually when we see them they look more like black worms and are about the size of an earth worm.) It's body is black on top, he had a yellow ring around his neck and his underside was orange, red and yellow.

Grumpy hates snakes and spiders. Anakin is fascinated by them. I don't mind them as long as the snake isn't poisonous. Ring necks aren't poisonous. But I didn't want it in the pool area. We even have a caged in pool.

Eventually Grumpy got him out of the pool area and into the yard. They caught 2 of the 3 lizards. We wondered if our intruder ate the 3rd?

I love living in Florida, but the wildlife has been a big adjustment (snakes and insects). I do like watching the egrets, ibis, great blue herons, and pelicans though! They are so beautiful!

We didn't get to Epcot as planned tonight. Looks like Tuesday we're off to the MK after swimming lessons. ADR is made for The Plaza. I hope Chef Ken is working! We love him!

P1060494.jpg

Our ADR is for a later lunch than I'd like. If our bellies won't hold out, it will be Cosmic Rays for chicken and ribs.

We had a wonderful day at the MK today. Another "best day ever"! Anakin rode an attraction he has never gone on before. I tried a snack I had never tried before. And we saw a celebrity! Report and pics to follow.

We arrived at the TTC around 11:30 am. We were thrilled to park in row 73, near the front, easy walkng distance to the monorail!

I was shocked to see how long the monorail line was. So we got in the shorter Ferry line. The queue for the ferry was unlike I had ever seen before. It weaved this way and that!

100_3513.jpg

100_3516.jpg

100_3531.jpg

There were 3 ferry boats running! They were not doing finger scans at the gate either to expidite people through.

As we entered Main St. the street trolley show was in progress, so we went into the candy store to cool off on our way to The Plaza. Oh what wonderful goodies they have in there! The smell of the store is so sweeet!! I spied the cake Mickey Cake pops! And there was a vanilla cupcake with my name on it! Saw the creamsicle fudge that Grumpy wanted to try. He usually wants Krispy treats, but wasn't interested in these beautiful $16.95 ones. Nor the $12.95 plain ones.
