Caught up with your TR again. It seems if I am gone for even a few days, I miss out on so much. Looks like you have been having a ton of Disney fun. Love that Anakin was able to calm himself. We are working on that with Luke and sometimes its easier than others. What a great accomplishment for you guys! I know what you mean about getting fixated. Luke has the same prob. Sometimes he just gets so hung up on something that he cant do anything else. I can relate to the tv issue. The other day Disney XD was not working and Luke saw that the Phineas and Ferb movie was on it and wanted to watch it. Thankfully, Netflix has the movie, otherwise it would have been meltdown central at my house. Glad to see that Anakin is working through this. Are you using the Explosive child techniques to help him with this or something else?

We are using the Explosive Child techniques. I'm still not done with the book but keep gleaning bits and pieces that are very helpful.

Thanks! He really enjoyed himself. He missed practice this week because of the the day of seizures he had on Wednesday. We hope to take him to the game tomorrow morning!

Good to see you! Has Pete heard back about the interview? Grumpy went for an interview today. It's a job dealing with fish, right down his alley. Just not sure if they are looking to hire a high school kid. There was a test about salt water fish and caring for them. Hopefully he passed that! They told him they would call him whether or not he got the job. There was another person being interviewed later today.

Missing your little Monday adventures!

We are still going on adventures. This past Monday we went to the MK around 4pm. The monorail was shut down til 6pm for construction of the GF DVC. The park was very crowded. Anakin got the last of the 60 cards he "needed" for the Sorcerer's game!! We ate supper at the Poly. I can post pics again after today!

Anakin had a terrible day on Wednesday. I woke up to him having a seizure at 4am. It lasted a couple minutes. He continued off an on til 6am with seizures. His heart rate dropped a little, but his oxygen levels remained great, so we didn't take him to the emergency room.

He woke up around 10. He kept pinching me and himself. He said it felt like he was dreaming. He even asked me how to wake up because he forgot how. I told him we were awake. He wanted to do his math, so he sat down and started working on it. I was getting his "brunch" ready, he began seeing things that weren't there. He couldn't remember his name, but he knew mine. I had him lay down.

A few minutes later he was up doing his school work and finished the whole day's work. He played Legos after. Next thing I know, he was in the kitchen standing, swaying and staring. I stood in front of him and Grumpy got behind him in case he fell. He came to and nearly jumped out of his skin. He had no idea how he got there or why we were there with him. Grumpy took him to lay down and I called the neurologist for the second time of the day.

He didn't get back to me until the next day. Anakin was back to his old self by 6pm and he had a great night of no seizures!! He hasn't had any problems since. His neurologist suggested we make an appointment with a pediatric epileptologist. So I made a phone call today and he has an appointment for the end of the month.

I am wondering if a brownie could have caused all this. We allow him one sugar snack a day and he chose a brownie for his snack. He ate it before bed. And I caught him sneaking a 2nd brownie, which he quickly swallowed. His body isn't use to that much sugar at one time, or caffeine.

I know I can't eat chocolate. I sure hope he didn't acquire my intolerance for chocolate!! He acted odd the last time he had a Mickey bar too.

He has been fine since Wednesday. I am really leaning towards chocolate as the culprit.

It took a month to get all 60 cards. 6 of the 60 he had to get through trading. We went twice a week from our vacation until last Monday.

I hope that Anakin enjoys his time on the baseball team. It will be good for him to feel a part of a team and have fun with the other kids. My daughter was a volunteer with a special needs baseball program and she fell in love with all of the kids.

Yes, we did! Loved them! I don't think Anakin stopped talking from the time he met them to the time they left. I don't know how D feels, but to me it felt like we knew each other forever.

Yes, we did! Loved them! I don't think Anakin stopped talking from the time he met them to the time they left. I don't know how D feels, but to me it felt like we knew each other forever.

I wish I did have "normalcy" tips to share. We just kind of go-with-the-flow and make do with whatever the situation is at the time. John hasn't had a full blown seizure in quite a while but he does have lots of facial twitches, occasional mood swings, and auras. I can always tell when his medication levels are off because he gets really grumpy and nothing is right in his world. I've learned that there's no time for me to worry about the small stuff and take it for what it is.

I am sure that it is very hard for you since this is your child. There's nothing like seeing your child go through something like Anakin does.

I am not sure if ya'll have ever tried this or if it's something that the doctors would consider for Anakin but John has what we call his "magic medicine". (our daughter gave it that name when she was in elementary school) It's Ativan and when he starts to have an "aura" or his facial twitches get too bad, he puts one under his tongue every 15 minutes until it stops. Sometimes, they stop with just one pill but sometimes it takes several. He has his magic medicine in his pocket at all times. Because the pills dissolve easily, we keep them in a contact lens case. It has a rubber gasket on it and it seals off really well which keeps moisture out.
