Disney done differently, (BOG dining updates pages 202 and 203)

Love the photos!!! Oooh - our next MNSSHP, I fully intend to meet all 7 of the Dwarfs (and Mickey/Minnie in their Halloween costumes)...

I can't wait to see your next pictures!

D~

I love that you got to meet Ann and Zoe,,.the kids looked like they has a great time together!

Aw I love how kids can do that, be like best friends in about 5 minutes :thumbsup2

I'll take that as a heads up and not bother trying carob. I use to love chocolate. My grandfather made the best fudge. He used Hershey's recipe. And his opera fudge was to die for!! Have you ever tried opera fudge? It's a wonderful PA Dutch confection!! Van Winkle makes the best!!

I have not heard of opera fudge! I grew up on Hershey's cocoa fudge and then discovered my mil also made it. THAT is what I call fudge, not what they sell in candy stores. I have never been able to make it myself though. I even had mil guide me through when she was living with us. However, my youngest daughter has been successful. But now that I am on WW, I guess I will hope that she doesn't make it this year as I definitely can't just eat one piece.

I love the trip down memory lane of the boys! And those pictures of fantasyland...wow! Pumpkin spice funnel cake, adding that to my list for next fall!!!!!!! I did not know you and Ann had a dis meet....

Thanks! The pumpkin spice is sooooo good. Just hope it isn't windy or you will end up with the sugar blowing everywhere. I speak from experience.

We really hadn't planned a DIS meet. But when we found out we had the same party night we decided we'd try to say hi at some point. This worked out great as we got to spend some time and it was more than a hello in passing.

Wow! I had a lot to catch up on.

Ewwwww! On the germs being spread! Yuck! This is why Scotty is squeamish about buffets. Me too.

I would love to do the Food and Wine Festival sometime. They used to have it here at DCA but they stopped during the building of Carsland. I hope they bring it back.

When I get the time, I try to crank them out!

I guess some things are better off not seen, huh?

I hope they bring it back to CA too.

The kids sure looked like they were having fun together. I love how the CMs joined in on the fun.

They had lots of fun. There were so many kids in line and I'm not sure why they all just watched and didn't join in? The CMs were fun ones.

The guy cm you see in the picture took our picture. He said if I'm taking yours you better take mine. I promised him I already got him in some.

love the photos of Anakin and his ladies, they are so cute!

Thanks! Waiting in line never was so fun.

D~

Thanks!! Plan on getting there by 5:30 at the latest! Better to wait two hours before the party then 2 hours during the party for them!!!!

Be sure to follow the MNSSHP planning thread. It will help. Have you ever done the party before?

I love that you got to meet Ann and Zoe,,.the kids looked like they has a great time together!

Their last trip we texted. They seemed to zig while we zagged. Then the guys got sick. Ann headed over to the MK where we were, but then Anakin got over stimulated and we had to take him home. So this night worked out perfectly!!

Aw I love how kids can do that, be like best friends in about 5 minutes :thumbsup2

Yes, they were instant friends.

I have not heard of opera fudge! I grew up on Hershey's cocoa fudge and then discovered my mil also made it. THAT is what I call fudge, not what they sell in candy stores. They sell it at Laudermilch's in Palmyra, and there is a store on 72 by the turnpike exit that sells it too. It's kind of like a buttercream, but much much better. It takes hours and hours to make. My grandfather spent almost the whole day and some of the next when he made it. Lots of stirring involved.

I tried to make the Hershey's fudge too, back when I could eat it. Didn't get the same. He said you drop it in water and that's how you know it's done. Yeah, sure! :thumbsup2

I'm on WW too. Are you doing online or meetings or both? I'm doing online.

So many updates, can't remember enough to comment on each. My memory is awful. So just some random observations: umm too gross about the Epcot stuff  The chocolate sculptures are fantastic, wow! I love your new bag, can't believe they didn't check for your tickets at MNSSHP, everyone's costumes look great, miss those days when making friends was that easy  The pictures of Anakin and the girls are adorable!

Let the Party Begin!!

I went to the party with the misconception that it was possible to do and see everything in the map if you planned it well. That is not true. After talking to people at the party and on the planning thread, I've learned that it takes 2 or 3 parties to do and see everything. Best advice is to pick 5 things you absolutely can't miss. Anything else you can consider bonus.

Around 7:15 excitement began to build as one by one the dwarfs made their entrance.

Anakin teased Grumpy. Told him he sat in his seat. The two of them went at it while the other dwarfs came out. I think Anakin has a new favorite dwarf. I also think that Anakin didn't understand this M&G. He went and high fived each one before posing for a picture. We tried to move him along because there were so many people in line waiting. The cm said he was fine, but I still felt badly for the people in queue.

Even though I felt badly for the people in queue waiting, I knew this could be our one and only time to get all the dwarfs together so I asked if we could get a family picture too.

We stopped to say goodbye to Ann and her family on our way out.

The tip thread had mentioned that if you want candy be sure to visit the trails. One of the trails was at Splash Mountain. Very few people were going through the trail. Most people were in line for the dwarfs. We hit the trail, and boy did we get the candy!!

Heading out from the trail to get out of the area, we passed by the entire line for the dwarfs. It was around 7:30pm and the queue was lined up past the playground area. Definately good advice to wait in line long before the party starts!!

As we got to the road where SM is across from Pecos Bills, there were CM doing wrist band checks. We all had to show our bands to proceed across the road. People who had party tickets but no band were banded here.

As we passed by POTC there was an orange fog looming in the air, and drops of rain started to fall. The rain felt so good as we were so hot. Anakin noticed a candy station as we walked by POTC, so we back tracked it to trick or treat.

DSC_1003.jpg

We passed by Jack Sparrow who had quite a line, but Anakin was not interested in visiting him. So we continued on.

The slow rain continued. Just before we got to Aloha Isle, we spotted Darth Vader!! My young Obi-Wan confronted Vader. They went at it for a bit, laughing and ***-playing. It was a great photo op!!

DSC_1004.jpg

From all this play, Anakin was overheating and the rain was getting more steady. We passed by Gaston and Anakin wanted no part of him, so we continued. The rain was heavier. Anakin was thrilled to use his Star Wars umbrella. We entered Casey's Corner and walked through the stores both to stay dry and cool down.

One of our prioritities was to get the Chip and Dale spell card from the Fire Station on Main Street. It was raining pretty hard and steady. The cm were outside welcoming guests to the fire station. We didn't realize they had the cards outside with them. We assumed they were inside where you would normally get your pack of cards to play the game. We were handed our regular pack and we asked where to get the Chip and Dale card. She told us to the left of the station. Nobody was to the left of the station. They were all lined up across the entrance to the station to try to stay dry.

We did get the cards handed to us, in the rain. DH who is an avid baseball card collector was not happy about this. And even more unhappy when he realized he left the hard plastics in the resort room. He cringed as I put them in my back pack unprotected.

We got our umbrellas back up and walked over to the M&G area. The time for Mickey and Minnie was much less than the line for the Prince and Princesses. Anakin REALLY wanted to see Flynn Rider. We have never seen him. When we first saw Rapunzel at her meet and greet last October, Flynn had already been removed from it. Flynn is one of his favorite movie characters and it was very important to him that we met Flynn.

Against Anakin's approval, we got in line for Mickey and Minnie. His sulking ended when a family with two small girls got behind us. One was dressed as Strawberry Shortcake and her little sister was dressed as a cupcake. Anakin started talking to them right away. There was another family in front of us. They had three children. Anakin also started talking to them. This made time pass by much faster for all our families.

The line moved and we entered the waiting room. Anakin and all the children explored the room. The cm started to talk to the children. By this time the six children were already good friends. The cm asked them if they'd like to play Mickey Says. She engaged them in play. The wait was long enough that each child that wanted got to be Mickey.

DSC_1007.jpg

We moved to the greeting room. Anakin had the kids all be quiet to listen to the rabbit chew. Then excitement grew as the kids continued to play together and see Mickey dressed as a pirate! Soon it was our turn.

As we exited through the gift shop, we took notice that the parade was to start in 5 minutes. DH wanted to watch the parade from the top of the train station.

Up next...Will the rain cancel the parade?

happy you got to see the dwarfs, (we did the same thing and waited early) we didn't get to see Mickey & Minnie though :sad1: or anyone else...
love the photo dueling with Darth! he looks like he was enjoying the evening to the fullest! love that he is engaging with the other kids in the queues!!!
sorry you got rained on too, not as much fun!

BTW - I finished up my TR...

I'm on WW too. Are you doing online or meetings or both? I'm doing online.

That's what my mil told me too. And then when she was here and watched me make it, after I dropped it in the water she looked at me with a look that said, "Well?" Then she said, "Now you have to take it out of the water and roll it between your fingers and see if it makes a soft ball." Well, duh, no one ever told me that part! I would just look at it in the water and think, "I guess that looks like a soft ball." :lmao:

I'm going to WW meetings with my daughter. Joined in March. My other dd was doing it online but quit, she didn't like the points, would rather count calories.

There is a WW thread here. I like that group because we can talk Disney and WW.

What a great update!

I love the pictures of the Seven Dwarves. It's been years since I have seen them. How great that Anakin had so much fun trick or treating. I think that Disney makes it so that you want to go to more than one party, more money. Mickey is so cute in his pirate outfit. What was Minnie dressed as?

You need more hours in your day.

Agreeed!

I love the photos of you and the kids over the years!!! Blond is a good color on you, btw!!! And Anakin... such a cute little guy!

I totally missed the festival center. I would have loved to see the ghiradelli stuff...and the donald merchandise.. we searched high and low for donald stuff but gave up...

I love your bag! Next time I am getting a bag!

I am so glad you got some pixie dust at Pop!!!

Anakin is so able to make friends. He has such a neat personality! I can see why the kids all are able to play so nicely with him. :goodvibes Zoe had the best time waiting in line with him and Audrey (:scratchin I wonder if Audrey's mom or dad is a dismember...hard to tell since we never really even spoke with them, or at least I didn't)

It was so nice to meet with you and your family, btw!!! I really regretted it not working out in December!

Trick or Treating near splash mountain was very cool! Sadly we had been near the front of the line to see the dwarfs when it rained....and there was a total mishap (I will have to share on my TR...WHEN I finally start it :rotfl:)

The rain cancel a parade at Disney? Never!!! The best parade I saw at Disney was in lashing rain :rotfl:

I love the dwarf pics and I think it really depends on the CM and photographer you get at the dwarves as to how much time you get. When we went to MNSSHP we had the grumpiest photographer ever who was like one photo then get out. At MVMCP they were lovely and let us spend as long as we wanted there. But definately you need to queue before the party starts.

Great pix of the 7 dwarfs and Anakin!!! I agree there is sooooo much to see at do at The Halloween Party!! I have gone twice and have not seen it all !!!

Loved seeing the Dwarf pictures! And M&M all dressed up! Ani was so cute playing with DV too!

So, where do they line up exactly? I know next year will be different, I am sure. And how long did you wait in total? It seems like it was a long time?

Yes, very gross at Epcot. Not something you'd expect at Disney. Very shocked about the tickets. I wonder if anyone snuck in, with that cm it would have been easy. Thanks!

I don't remember reading about MNSSHP on either yours or Judy's TR, but I remember you telling us it did not go well with the downpour.

Sorry you missed Mickey and Minnie. It was in our favor that their M&G is now indoors. So sad you didn't see anyone else either. Did you ask where they were meeting in inclimate weather? I read on the tip thread many will meet in another location.

Everything we did was excellent. We ALL enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. The rain really didn't dampen our experience. Anakin was more than thrilled to hold an umbrella. Probably one of the highlights of his night. Never saw anyone so proud to hold an umbrella. The only thing the rain did was affect the first parade and make us miss the Villians show. But it did not get us wet.

That's what my mil told me too. And then when she was here and watched me make it, after I dropped it in the water she looked at me with a look that said, "Well?" Ahhhhh! So that's what the step about the ball means. ROFL, no wonder mine never formed a ball in the water!!!!!

That's so wonderful that you have someone to attend meetings and do the program with you.

Thanks for the link. I will go check it out!

It had been years since we saw all 7 too!! In fact, I think Grumpy was in kindergarten then. We were walking past Germany and there they were with no wait!!

I'm not sure. I guess I will have to check out Kennythepirate's description of the costumes. Here is his description http://kennythepirate.com/2012/10/0...umes-at-mickeys-not-so-scary-halloween-party/ For the parade, they worse another outfit.

Apparently they have 3 costume changes. One is the pirate,

The platinum blonde eventually happened because I kept getting my hair highlighted. And she kept trying to cover my gray. At some point I should have had low lights put in, but didn't. Now I color my own hair.

Next time you are searching for something, drop me a text!

It's girls that he is able to get along with instantly. He has trouble with boys sometimes. The kids at church bully him, which is where I would not expect bullying to occur. He can't keep up with them in the games, physical things they do or reading.

I'm so sorry to read there was a mishap!! I'm so sorry!

If there is thunder in the mix, they will cancel. Thankfully there was no thunder but it did affect the parade.

Thanks. We didn't get to see that many characters, but the ones we took their time with us.

Great pix of the 7 dwarfs and Anakin!!! I agree there is sooooo much to see at do at The Halloween Party!! I have gone twice and have not seen it all !!!

Thanks! How fun!

Back when we first started going when we moved here, I know we did almost everything. And back then they had more shows. A castle show and one at tomorrowland's theater, and possibly there was another show at the Horseshoe Saloon too. I guess it's good they offer more. That way there is something for everyone.

Loved seeing the Dwarf pictures! And M&M all dressed up! Ani was so cute playing with DV too!

So, where do they line up exactly? I know next year will be different, I am sure. And how long did you wait in total? It seems like it was a long time?

D~

Thanks! It was the exact same line as the Woody and Jessie meet. We waited exactly 2 hours. Got in line at 5:15 and they came out at 7:15. It was a very long wait. But as I mentioned before it's better to spend 2 hours before the parade waiting than 2 hours during the parade.

Just FYI, they let party goers into the park at 4pm with their party ticket! So if there is a day you were saving you can use the party ticket to enter and save a park day for another day on your MYW tickets.

Next time I can't find something, I will totally text you!

That is horrible that the boys would bully poor Anakin! He is such a sweetie! However... yeah... boys... they are into those physical things and do tend to "measure up" in that way, where girls just are much more "social" I can see why he puts the girls at ease and is fast friends with them since being nice is more important to them than jumping and climbing. :goodvibes

I am sorry to hear that Anakin gets bullied at church. That is so sad.

hope the bully's are getting a talking to!, how cruel of them!

we both wrote about our MNSSHP...the main reason we didn't do the characters was Megan not wanting too...I did insist on the dwarfs though!
think our timing was off the whole night, didn't get into position early enough for the parade, did see the fireworks though...did rides and we did leave around 10ish since we were so wet and tired.

will have a better game plan when we do MVMCP next year!

You do that, lol!

I started to stay with him the whole time. That way I can help him with the reading. But the few times I left he got taunted for his ear phones, touched because they know they can get a rise out of him, and excluded because he can't keep up.

The church we go to is an amazing church. We picked it because it was the best fit for Grumpy as he was growing up. Maybe we will have to pick one for Anakin that is less stimulating and more serious?

He did well sitting in the santuary with us. I love family worship, but also would like him to be able to participate in the kid's stuff.

I am sorry to hear that Anakin gets bullied at church. That is so sad.

Me too. Thanks. We haven't really been going. He stresses so much about what might happen the next time he goes.

hope the bully's are getting a talking to!, how cruel of them!

They aren't really. When I am there I explain things to the children. I think most of it comes from ignorance. The few I have talked to have stepped up and helped him.

We got into postition 5 minutes before the parade. DH just chose a lousy spot. And our 5 minute wait turned into much much more than 5 minutes. But that is to come.
