disney dollars....

i'm very new to disney. its been almost 10 years since i've been, so i realize SO much has changed. can anyone tell me what exactly are the disney dollars used for? are they worth getting? thnaks

Disney Dollars are cash you can purchase at the Disney store or at Disney. They come in denominations of $1,5,and 10. They are sold dollar for dollar (no extra fees). It can be a way to save up and not tap into the money because it is only good at Disney and their stores. The dollars are good just about everywhere at Disney, the resorts, the parks and the restaurants as well as most stores. We find them to be very worthwhile especially for our children. Once they convert the money to D$'s they can't spend it on a whim. It helps them to save up. We also ask anyone who doesn't know what to get us for a special occasion to just get us Disney Dollars. They can fit everyone's budget and they really come in handy since we frequent Disney.

I have a ? relating to the Disney Dollars. Is it possible to get a DC discount on your Disney Dollar purchase at the Disney Store? Just wondering???

Disney Dollars are cash!! You are basically exchanging US Currency for Disney Currency. You can us Disney Dollars for all your purchases on Disney Property, with the exception of non disney owned stores & restaurants in Downtown Disney.

Because they are cash, you can not get a discount on the "purchase" of Disney Dollars. You can however get any discounts you are entitled to on purchases you make when using Disney Dollars to purchase.

We use them as little treats for dd...we put some in her stocking at xmas, her birthday cards, rewards for good grades...she loves them.
